The Unofficial Start of Summer MMP

We got home yesterday from southern West Virginia (thank God my wife and I look alike so we blended right in  ) and today was smoker overload in the old Brinkman. I did about 20 pieces of chicken, 5 pounds of ribs and a 3 pound loin so we gots us eating for the week and more. I ran mostly apple and hickory and kept it to about 200 for 6 hours and then browned everything over the firebox side. Now its time for a shower and some well earned burps.

Army Boy and I moved this weekend. Now we’re in a two-bedroom apartment we’re sharing with a friend that’s in a quiet part of town (two streets over from where we were living), a roommate that isn’t psycho (long story I"ll tell later) and a cute kitty that comes over from the neighbor’s place to be cute and roll around on the front porch. We had a huge barbecue today with a bunch of guys playing spades. Good times.

I have to go back to work tomorrow. I don juanna. I really need to find a new job that doesn’t involve dealing with morons, excuse me, the American Travelling Public.

I’ve been productive today! …between the naps anyhow.

First of all, I didn’t go to bed until 4am last night because I just wasn’t tired (probably because I took a nap from 7 until 10pm). And I got up at 10am, drowsy but awake. Which was how I was more or less all day. I would lie down for a while, get refreshed in about five minutes without sleeping, then get up. Weird.

Anyway, I did four loads of laundry, and even put all but one away, vacuumed out my car after my dad power washed it, and cleaned up the pile of doom around my computer so it’s now just one neatly organized bin, a bag of projects, and a few piles on stuff that didn’t want to deal with.

And I was working on going through my music while I organized.

Hawks win! I survived irk, more tomorrow.

Spaz!

: waves at Spaz :

I just saw a job posting today for a private school out in the boonies (3 hrs away from Seoul). The salary is tempting but it’s so far away and I don’t have a car. I don’t know if it’d be worth being away from my friends and family here. It IS a good position though. I think I’d really really enjoy the job itself. Maybe I’ll send in a resume and see how it goes. Hm.

nothing ventured, nothing gained

btw - where are you teaching now? HS? College? my friend’s daughter will be studying in Seoul this summer

I’m teaching at a private academy at the moment. College gigs are almost impossible for me because they insist on people with a foreign passport (don’t know why).

Firstly, a belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY! to Coyote and apologies for missing you yesterday.

Welcome back, Spaz! Glad to hear from you, though I have been keeping up on facebook.

Up and caffeinating this morning, ready to head back to work. Ready, but not wanting to! LOL Happy Tuesday all … at least it’s Tuesday, not Monday.

Good Morning Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. Gonna go busy in the yahd for a little bit more and job hunt. Such is the excitement of my life.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Good morning all! Still sleepy, but slowly steeling myself for the day. Need to finish locating breakfast and pack lunch. Would really like to stay home, but… Maybe another day this week.

Happy not Monday!

Pulled over by a cop while driving my son to school. He claimed I was talking on my cell phone, which I wasn’t. I had my elbow on the window sill of the drivers door and my hand on the side on my head (as if I was propping up my head). He thought I was holding my phone to my ear. Warning ensued (to not do what I wasn’t doing anyway).

Was able to teach my 15 year old how to handle a traffic stop, so that was good!

Not fun though.

Good morning! Kinda blurfy this morning. First thing I had to do was clean up grosss dog poop. Blaze got sick last night, poor thing.

Feels like Monday, but it’s not! Yay! Only a three day work week for me this week.

Hi, Spaz!

I can haz blufz?

Busy day today, I have 158 projects that need to be marked so I’ve been preparing marks sheets for all of them and getting them assigned to people for marking. They’ve mostly been sent out now so that’s one large job off my list. On to the next one now!

The poorly eye is better today which is a good thing, I’m on day 3 of the drops so only a couple more days to do and it should all have cleared up by the time I see the doc next week.

It’s Fat Club tonight and I am not hopeful that I’ve lost anything this week. I had quite a bad start to my week (entirely self-indulgent, of course) but things improved in the last few days so it might not be as bad as I think.

In other news, we have a sweepstake for the World Cup. I got Spain. Apparently that’s good.

Is it quit o’clock yet?

I’m late! I’m late! Sorry everyone! Therefore, appropriate Rosie’s Sig all around.

Quite and somewhat rainy weekend around our place. The highlights were some aigplant parm that I made on Sunday and some new tahrs for my car. Other than that it was just sit around and eat.

The diet starts today.

We’ve got a SteamVac carpet cleaner, so bring on the doggy barf and worse. I’ll have it cleaned up before you even find a parking spot at the maul.

I hate shopping. No. I detest, loath and abhor shopping. And I really don’t like going to shopping malls. They seem to bring out the lowest IQs in people.

Had a wet Memorial Day at SIL’s house. Plenty of medical and fire calls throughout. They didn’t need to go out for any of them, but there was no shortage of trouble breathings, car wrecks, downed power lines and one call of smelling gas.

I’ve got a big box of groggies here. Our dog remains terrified of storms and she spent last night trying to claw her way into bed with us and hudding up on our heads while quivering. Hell of a way to wake up - being smothered by a 60 pound dog. No idea what she’s going to do on the Fourth. We tried benadryl a couple of years ago and it din’t help much. Just seemed to make her a bit dopier than usual but still panicked.

I HATE being accused of something I didn’t do. Probably has something to do with childhood trauma, but if a policeman did that to me I’d probably burst into tears. :smack:

Tomorrow’s election day so we all get the day off! Boyfriend has decided we’re going to go racing off on the bike up north. NORTH. As if we weren’t close enough already.

It was old-time hockey – just like Tony Esposito and Bobby Hull. Terrific game!

I spent most of the mornin’ goin’ Joan Crawford on a Sago Palm and three Bradford Pear trees. Then I hauled off the branches and limbs to OYKW’s place cause I can put 'em in his alley and they’ll get picked up. Plus, I mowed OYKW’s yahd while I was there cause it needed it. WHEW!

I’s all cleanded up and lunched. I’s tahred. Country fried steak, smashed N.O.T., steamed cabbage and steamed squish for dindin tonight and probably tomorrow too. 'Twill be nummy! Specially all the farm fresh veggies!

I’m back! Did y’all miss me?

Thursday was just crazy at work. Friday I was off and spent a quiet day by myself recovering from the insanity of the last month or so. Saturday we both kind of chilled a bit. I had a meeting with a couple of guys who are trying to get a chapter going for the alumni association of our college. We tried a Mexican place for dinner Saturday night. I liked it a lot - great chiles rellenos - but KT said his enchiladas were only so-so. Sunday after church followed by a nap, we washed the windows. Then took a quick trip to the arboretum to see the peonies (I LOVE peonies!) and then back home ‘cause I was going out for a girls’ night to see the new Sex and the City movie. It wasn’t great, but it’s silly fun and it made for a fun girls’ night. KT biked to the airport and took the plane out for some night flying. So he had fun too.

Monday we went to the zoo relatively early before the crowds got out. The three-banded armadillo was even awake! He’s a cute little bugger who runs around making a tap-tap-tap noise with his feet, but he’s only awake in the morning. We were there right at noon, and he made one last round of his pen and then dove under a pile of hay and went to sleep. Which is how we usually see him in the afternoon when we normally get to the zoo. I think we’ve only seen him awake once before. Really funny to watch a small armored critter running around.

Then I spent yesterday afternoon making food for the next couple days. I’ve got a chicken jalfrezi recipe that’s much better if it sits for a day to let the flavors blend before eating it. So that’ll be dinner tonight. Then I made spanikopita for Wednesday, which is KT’s birthday. So that’s in the fridge and just needs to be popped in to the oven on Wednesday. Easy peasy.

I also tried two recipes from the link that Sticky posted last week with the rosemary chocolate cake. (Which is almost gone and which is on the Must Make Again list.) The flavor of the broccoli crunch salad is great, but you’ve really got to drain the broccoli. Mine turned out really watery. Bleh. The chopped miso salad is ok. The shallots are a waste of time as the flavor totally gets lost. And it’s a little sweet for my taste. But the basic idea is good so I think I’ll just change it up a bit and try again some time. And overall, I *really *like that website!
