Back from a weird week in the middle of Arkansas. On the plus side I did get to go in the only underground sand mine in the country.
mr ems is still in TX but his Mom is home from the hospital after her stay for pneumonia and the antibiotics are working, the staples are out of her head wound where she fell and they set her wrist in a cast yesterday as the swelling had gone down. Looks like he might be home Tuesday. He and his sister have got it organised for someone to come in during the day when his sister is at work to take care of his mom despite his Dad’s objections to having a stranger in the house. ‘Tough noogies’ he was told as he is to frail to help if she falls or needs any assistance. mr ems sister is a nurse and only works 3 days a week so she will be there the rest of the time.
House crazyness starts next week with inspections, radon testing, stucco inspections, appraisals, market analysis so they can list it for sale. Fun!
Bumba sorry your MIL had to go through all that but glad it was not the mean nasty thing. I agree. It was all our good vibes, mojo and prayers what did it.
Rebo have you not learned to never leave tasty doggie treats on the counter? I mean you practically wrote a note on it all that said, “Come and get it Lucy!”
Pool time was fun. We laughed. We drank. We laid in the pool. It thundered but nuttin’ happened. :dubious: Dindin got et and everybody went home. The kitchen is all cleanded and we’s tahrd. Matter of fact we’re about to go lie upon the bed and watch teevee. I got a feelin’ I’ll be asleep within half an hour of doin’ so. I be a tahrd bear!
Bumba glad it wasn’t as bad as you thought! Re: the Kindle, I’ve got a ton of ebooks and I’m willing to share. PM if you want some.
Haven’t felt like doing anything today, but I’m doing alright. Dad slept most of the day so now he’s vacuuming which hurts my ears (actually it feels more like I’m driving up a mountain - that sort of pressure) and gives me a headache.
Sorted laundry, have three loads done and folded, and three more to do. Picked up my room so I can walk in there again. Photographed a couple of kimono to put on eBay tomorrow along with two other things. Washed dishes. Helped my mom with a project. Emptied the computer stuff out of my bag from Memorial Day weekend. Cleaned off my thumb drives. Harassed the cats. Started a Wordpress blog and portfolio, although I still need to think of a name for the blog (the site is Curiously Lydean). Faxed in my time card. Set up four email addresses on my two sites.
Have to finish the portfolio, laundry, and clean the bathrooms this weekend.
I’m going to probably be getting together with the ex-boyfriend tomorrow for a few hours since he’ll be passing by. Don’t know what we’ll do - maybe just walk the mall or something.
**BBBobbio **- file this for future reference. Lenny’s Restaurant across from the Wildewood Center is a good place for steaks, and the prices aren’t too terrible. Their seafood is a bit high to my mind, but the steaks were reasonable and quite good. That’s where we had supper tonight. I’s stuffded!
Gonna get me all showered, then we’re going to watch another episode of Dexter. That is one creepy and addictive series! Yay for Netflix or I’d have never discovered it.
First half of my weekend is gone. One day closer to retirement.
Two coats of primer on one side of four cabinets doors, two coats of primer on the cabinet in the untility room, figured out how to reach to finish cutting in around the shower/ceiling in the little bathroom, painted the door frame in the little bathroom, washed the two bathmats.
Productive couple of hours! Tomorrow will be put two finish coats on the cabinet and the doors, then hopefully flip the doors over to prime the back sides. Need to go to the grocery store which I might do tonight or early tomorrow. I went to Target earlier today and spent $320  I did get a shark steam vacuum on sale so tomorrow all the tile in the house will be steam cleaned I also need to vacuum and dust and wipe down the kitchen.
Supper tonight will be either fajitas as I thawed out some chicken boobs or tukey chili as I thawed out some ground turkey as well. Whatever is not tonight will be tomorrow supper
We did Rustic River yestiday for lunch before going to the MVA for driver’s licenses. I wound up proposing to the waitress. VWife’s reaction? “You can have him…”
MVA was a Pitworthy experience. They gave VWife all kinds of hell for not having her marriage license to prove identity. Odd part was it was NOT listed as a required document. I honestly thought she was going to strangle the clerk and the Ass Manager before it was over. The Site Manager intervened, and we now have MD driver’s licenses. I’m out $90 for the pair.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ YAWN Actually been up a while. I went to sleep at seven-thirty last night so I guess that has sump’n to do with that. I am in the process of waterin’ the back yahd again. Well, I am in the process of goin’ out to the garage and manually turnin’ on both sides of the sprinkler system in the back yahd. Anywho, second side should be about finished now. ‘Tis 73 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 101. ICK! Although, yestiddy, it did not get as hawt as predicted and we did have a kinda nice breeze goin’. Still, we need rain!
BBBobbio glad y’all got your licenses. I’m bettin’ the marriage license thing is a throwback from a long time ago when it was required and that clerk and Ass Manager have been there forever and still think it’s a requirement. Ya just can’t get away from the dumb.
I transferred the pasta sallit into a nice glass bowl to take to the church house. We can’t just show up with Tupperware now can we? Of course not. We’re talkin’ Episcopalians. They’d talk about me over cocktails if I showed up with a Tupperware bowl.
Now I shall seek out caffiene. Also, rumbly tummy wants to be fed.
Wait a second - *she *needed a marriage license as proof of identity but you didn’t? How does that work?? And, for the record, when we changed from FL to MD seven years ago, I know they didn’t ask for the marriage license because I wouldn’t have had it yet - it was still packed away. Maybe if VWife didn’t look so much like a terrorist…
Scruffy must die. Bad enough she woke me at 5-ish to go out, but to wake me again a little after 6 when I finally dozed off again! grrrrrrrrr
Today is good deed day. FCD’s work gives one of their offices to the county women’s shelter admin folks, and they asked last week for volunteers with trucks to help move stuff to help move some donations. So we’re going to hook up the trailer to the pick-em-up truck and go help out. But that’s not till 2, so in the meantime, I’ve got a little more work to do on the sailcover. I’ll probably end the day doing some laundry.
Whoa - it just started raining! Wonder how long that will last? We need a good shower here.
All purtified for deheathenization. Pasta sallit is now in an acceptable glass bowl. I am still all gobsmacked at how much pasta sallit that is. I filled up a six quart bowl!
Pasta salad sounds good, Swampy. I think I’ll add that to the menu this week. Working on menus and grocery list this morning.
Yesterday we bought new lampshades for thenew lampsthat we had to have when we got new side tables for the futon in the office. They look nice! The side tables are actually file cabinets.
The Mom of The Boys is here visiting today. I was being social, but then I found out that Culinary Boy went into my wallet and took my $10. Now I’m upstairs so I don’t kill him in front of his mother. We watched Drive Angry last night, so I know the consequences of killing people in front of their parents. That’s a really good exploitation flick, by the way. It’s gory, but it’s pretty cartoonish. I didn’t have to look away at all.
I will kill Culinary Boy later. And he knows this.
Been awake since 5AM. For a Sunday this is not good. But got the bed stripped, comforter just finished in the washer and sheets are ready to load. I have also put the second coat of paint on the first side of the utility cabinet doors so they can dry for several hours so I can turn them over and prime the reverse this afternoon. I also got the first coat on the cabinet itself. Now I am having some quick brekkie before I go buy more paint to finish the job and go grocery shop.
I forgot to mention that **FCD **bought a new toy last night - a pressure washer. He used it to wash our cars today - looks like it did a good job. I’m going to use it on the deck and railing. Beats scrubbing by hand, right?
I’s hongree. I had leftover quiche for breakfast, but I’m ready for lunch. Pizza would taste good - too bad the pizza fairy is a slacker…
Moooooooom, Swampus, the thing about the marriage license is apparently a new requirement to establish ID after a name change, supposedly enacted with the last week or two. Only the state MVA website makes no mention of it. We looked last night just to make sure.
IT mattered not a whit that she had Social Security cards in both maiden and married names.
Did I mention that we independently had the same thought? If we had to go fetch the marriage license, that we’d bring back the humongo framed one and say, “Scan this, bitch…”
No reservations that I know of. I move that swampy take the vote.
Sorry about the stress with Culinary Boy…
Brother, nephew and I went to Local Best Friend’s house last night so that she and hubby could go out to dinner to celebrate their anniversary. They came home around 11 or so, but we hung around until 1. LBF and I chatted while the little boys roughhoused (they had built a fort in the living room, then wrestled, then chased each other around the house, then picked up the little princess’s baby dolls and had them boxing and wrestling (good thing she was asleep; she would have been VERY UPSET). Then there was a marathon game of Labyrinth among all 4 guys while we sat and chatted and commented on their progress. After the boys got tired of the game, the dads continued playing for about an hour.
We had a big storm come through last night and found some huge branches down in the back yard this morning. Fortunately, they fell in places where almost nothing was harmed.
So there will be garden clean-up at some point today. At least it’s much nicer today - not nearly as hot.
The thing that kills me about proving ID - birth certificates and Social Security cards are not photo ID, and even if you had a birth photo, chances are you’ve changed since then… Nor do marriage licenses have photos - at least none that I’ve ever seen.
Thanks for takin’ care of the vote Rosie. It’s important to make these things all democratic and official like.
Spaz takin’ money out of someone’s wallet is a murderable offense.
Ya know that biiiiiiiiiiiiig bowl of pasta sallit? I brought back enough to fill up a pint size container. Guess it was not too much after all. Plus, pasta sallit for lunch tomorrow! Win-Win!
MOOOOOOM I have an electric pressure washer that’s great for stuff like washin’ down the back porch, washin’ the storage buildings, washin’ vehicles etc. I likes my pressure washer.
