The Unofficial Start of Summer MMP

Off to work.

I don’t see how people in cervical collars can stand it! Of course, this one could be the wrong size for me. As long as I’m still, it’s fine. I’ll try to sleep in it and see how it goes.

I just ordered a dryer from Lowe’s. They’re supposed to call to let me know when it’ll be delivered. It’d be nice if it comes tomorrow…

Howdy Y’all! We did have some cee-mint pond after all. The sun was peekin’ through the clouds and 'tis hawt out so we hung out there a couple of hours. Proof I was in the cee-mint pond is on my facebook page. Steak, baked zucchini and summer squish, corn on the cob (except I shall have corn off the cob), and cheesey bread for dindin. Plus watermelon for later! YUM!

ruble the happy funeral march sounds like fun!

Irkweek is finally over
Time for a beer.

Supper was salads from WaWa. The clerk was a n00b - I had to tell him that I didn’t get charged for the dressing - one comes free with each salad. So don’t try to hit me for 29¢ each, dammit!!! :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve slept most of the day and I’m hoping I can sleep most of the night. We’ll see if the collar helps.

Dindin has been ingested. We’s stuffded! Maybe watermelon later. Or not. The rain has not appeared yet. Now the weather PTB say tstorms overnight. We shall see. I will believe when I see/hear. :dubious:

Got the tags on the car and promptly went and got tapped in the passenger door when changing lanes. :smack: The other driver and I were jockeying for the same spot in the middle lane and the corner of his bumper touched my door. He took a look at his and said that five minutes of buffing would take care of it. When I touched the paint left on my car, it came off on my hand. A couple of drive thru napkins finished the job and we agreed to leave it go.Whew!

I hit the farmer’s market for the first time this season. Got some black seeded Simpson lettuce, green beans, new N.O.T.s, yard aigs and farm cured bacon. Supper will be wilted lettuce, green beans with bacon and new spuds, yellow squish (from the farmer’s market too) and a poke chop. I can’t wait until the end of the month when the maters and sweet corn come on.

I ventured out to the CVS for some sinus medicine and have done nothing else except sleep and be a slug. I am determined I will not be sick. I leave for my GA trip on the 16th and have a bunch of irk to do tween now and then dammit. Plus, one of my clerks, an older lady just had a heart procedure a couple weeks ago and her Dr told her not to be around any sick folks for a while. Cannot be sick.

We are still expecting a deluge come Moanday-Wednesday. May even be a named storm by then and if so I will not have to irk.

Yay for no damage and needing the cops and insurance woes

Rosie’s sig

Did you argue over $0.29? :dubious:

I didn’t argue, I just told him I shouldn’t have been charged and he voided the dressing. No muss, no fuss.

I am thinking New Orleans; I hope mine has hints of that when my time comes.

Sometimes I think we must be. But there is that silly buying food and stuff thingy ------
Well, its a hockey night in Pittsburgh ----- well somewhere else actually ----- and I don’t care all that much ------ but did I <hic> mention that Paradise Pak assortment of beers? And I got a couple jars of stuff that passes for whiskey. Or “shiskey” as it said before I checked the spellcheck. Damn good thing that spellcheck. <hic>

Can someone request a drunken belch smilie form the PTB? I am sure people other than me could use one here now and then.

When some folks were offended by the Orthodox Jewish Guy? Do you seriously believe they are willing to offend imbibers and prohibitionists at the same time? Oye vey.

ruble maybe :o could pass for a drunken belch smiley. It looks like it’s about to throw up.

And on that note I shall bid you all good night. We are retirin’ to the boudoir to watch teevee etc until sleepy time.

Nitey Nite Y’all!

Funeral marches can be… interesting. I attended the funeral of a guy who had been the head librarian at the high school I attended. His name was Mike Printz, it’s possible it might be recognized as he had many professional honors to his name, and a YA book award is named for him.

The funeral was held at the Episcopal cathedral that I now belong to. As the coffin was borne from the church a slow dirge was played. I thought to myself that I shoucl recognize the tune but it took me a while. Finally it came to me, it was a slow time rendition of the school song.:stuck_out_tongue:

gotti, I am so sorry for what you are going through. I watched my mom have to do it, thank goodness she had us daughters to lean on. But sometimes I miss my dad so much and don’t want to tell her how down I feel about it.

Damn, there I go, talking about myself. Sorry.

All I can tell you is take literally those people who ask “What can I do to help?” Make a list of tasks to be done, and start matching people up. Errands to run, stuff to be mailed, a house to be cleaned. If folks bring over food, ask for disposable dishware, so you don’t have to worry about doing dishes. My mom taught me that one. Ask for plastic forks, paper towels and plates, and ziploc bags for leftovers.

Paint my house.
We have been there.
There is not a damn thing anyone can do.

I wouldn’t hit your for 29¢, Mooommm. OTOH, I’d pay a lot more to hit flytrap. :o

Mazeguy has our old smilies, plus a lot more. Don’t quite know how to get them to show in here, though you could URL link to them.

I can come by in the afternoon, as soon as I pick up some Pepto-pink paint & purple polka-dots. Or are we doing the polka-dots in multiple colors? Another option is to do the whole thing to look like the old fruit-striped gum

Twas a long, exhausting day. Home from a Bar Mitzvah for a family that doesn’t know how to celebrate an event.
The aunt didn’t make it because her kid was graduatin’ from college…& the cousin didn’t make it because she ran off to the other coast to be with her daughter who gave birth on Thurs!

I went through something much like that at a biker funeral; I know that tune. What is it, what is it? It was the Harley-Davidson National Anthem played really slow.

Born to be Wild

In white for those not in the know.

Pens lose, and I am happy.

So you’re rooting for crayons?

Took me a moment to realize what you were referring to. The nearby town of Pittsburg (no H) has temporarily renamed itself Teal Town to avoid any confusion with the more well-known city with a similar name.

Meanwhile, there’s a bottle of Makers Mark that is calling out “Hey, open me!”
