The Unofficial Start of Summer MMP

Yay Conga rats to you both Meeks & wishes for lotsa love luck and rainbows!!

Nothing special – the usual 15 or so amusement parks, riding my motorcycle, visiting relatives – just the normal life for us.

Work today so I’m out of here shortly. Will catch up later.

Our dryer is weird. A while back, it started making a gawd-awful noise and vibrating rather badly when we ran it, but it dried the clothes and there was no smell to suggest fire, so we put up with it. This morning, it’s running like usual - no noise, and drying faster than it had been. Not sure what the problem was, but YAY for it disappearing!

**FCD **is snoozing again. I’ve finished 2 loads of laundry, with #3 in the dryer and #4 in the washer. The ibuprofen seems to be helping my back, so that’s good. When all the clothes are done, I just might try to nap - I had a broken night last night and I’m in semi-zombie mode at the moment.

No rain yet, but I expect some soon. Hope it’s not as heavy as last night - that was terrible!! We shall see.

[assorted curses] AC decided to conk out. We have a week of “high 90s crowding triple digits” ahead. Starting today.

DH has diagnosed a blown fuse on the outdoor portion of the HVAC system (neither of us really knows what to call that), with a big fan that I assume is involved in heat removal. Fortunately, Home Despot (as we call them) is in fact open today, and the part will be about $6 totalling in sales tax. It’s also pretty much a plug&play replacement.

We shall see.

Happy Memorial Day, everyone!

So far, I’ve washed and put away a sinkful of dishes, and those dishes have been replaced with the breakfast dishes. Breakfast, BTW, was scrambled cheese eggs, a toasted light English muffin, a banana, and tasty life-affirming bacon. Mmm… bacon. And coffee, the staff of life.

I have to put more people into rooms today, then print labels and reports, then flake for a while. Dinner will be turkey burgers, corn on the cob, and assorted vegetables. Then further flakage will ensue.

Happy Moonday!

Happy Memorial Day!

It’s a sunny 73 degrees outside, looks to be a pretty day.

I’ve got a pretty big blurf going on again today.

Summer vacation plans? Nothing planned.
Well, I have plans, but they don’t include a vacation.
More like goals, pay off some bills, get Sah-son out and about to try to help him overcome his shyness, maybe even get him to get his driver’s license.
I have to sell the boat, which just sits out there collecting dust and leaves.

I found a picture of what I want my yard to look like, that is going to take some money and planning.

I’m hoping my friend’s friend Roger, who lives in OK, comes out to stay with her again this year. I’m going to see if he will spend a week with me and help out with some stuff around the house that are beyond our skills. He’s a great handyman and an even better decorator.

I need the basement stairs either fixed or replaced. Sah-son doesn’t like them and he won’t let me use them. When I was younger and stronger I would have tried to do it myself, but I’m not up to that kind of stuff anymore.

I am thinking about this http://www.fast-stairs.com/. I think Sah-son could do it, but he has no confidence in himself. I need to find a handy man that I can trust.

Fortunately there’s nothing down there except the furnace and hot water heater. He goes down about every other month to change the filter, run some water in sink to fill the trap, and check the dehumidifier.

So, most of my summer plans involved fixing, cleaning, and improving stuff around the house.

YAY! Meeks! I’m happy for you!

Good luck with the surgery tomorrow FCD

Threads merged!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Howdy Y’all! Been a semi-lazy day except that we went to [del]the hog trough[/del] Golden Corral for N.O.L. OYKW had a gnawin’ and a cravin’ and hey he bought so I et.

As for Summer plans, I shall be on permanent vacation as of July 29th. YAY! I shall continue to do some irk on a part-time (as in when I want to I will, when I don’t want to I won’t) basis but I’m lookin’ at maybe September or October for that. I want a few weeks of bein’ a big ol’ slug and drain on society first.

Meeks congratulations!!!

Congrats, Mika!

Airman and I were married by a JP and it’s the smartest thing we’ve ever done. No muss, no fuss, and we’re still married after 14 years.

I believe that is the compressor. Refrigerant is compressed, giving off a lot of heat. The compressed refrigerant is pumped into the house, where it is allowed to expand, becoming cold. Air is blown over it to cool the house.

Blown fuses may be a symptom of trouble. You might want to have an A/C guy check it out before Summer.

And my vacation plans? Driving up to Lawn Guyland for the hockey comvention, and to [del]be axe murdered by[/del]hang out with The Cute One[sup][sup]TM[/sup][/sup].

I ordered a bunch of random crap, just so you wouldn’t be bored.

Congrats on the impending slothitude, swampy. I can retire on July 29th*.

Nettie, hope it’s a quick fix.

I spoke too soon. My dryer is dead. Dammit. It’ll run about 20 seconds, then all the lights flash and it beeps. Unplugging it for a while didn’t help. Letting it sit and cool down didn’t help. It’s dead, Jim. And according to the tag inside the door, it’s 11 years old - I guess that’s a reasonable lifespan. At least these days…

So off to shop on line for a dryer. Meanwhile, the stuff that was in the dryer is hanging on the line. If it rains, it’ll get an extra rinse. Otherwise, it should be dry tomorrow when I get back from the hospital.

Always something. Dammit.

butters, if my oven went out during AC season, I wouldn’t know it until fall. :stuck_out_tongue:

Congratulations, Mika!

Appendages crossed for getting your AC fixed quickly and inexpensively, nettie. It’s nice to have someone around the house who know sh!t from Shinola about that kind of stuff.

I’m irking today. Why, I don’t know. Fortunately what could have been a nasty workload from this weekend’s counts was very light. Unfortunely, I still have to wait until tomorrow to finish them so that I can touch base with the folks in that department who know anything about them to come back.

While my town’s parade was at 11:00 am today, there will be a short service at Veteran’s Memorial Park (we just built it this year) at six, so I’ll likely walk over.

You are most gracious!!

Oh, and my plans for summer vacation?

One week, I will likely be moving to a different apartment.

In July, I’ll either go up north for the family reunion or my high school reunion. Too bad they’re not on the same weekend.

There will be weekend trips in between to the hills and possibly to NYC to visit with a rugrat (they come here more often though), along with the usual rides to wherever.

I have a roast in the crock pot. I wan’t stew beef but there was none at the store so beef roast it is. I will add some carrots and potatoes when it is nearer to being done.

Lazy day here other than the grocery trip this morning. I think hubs went to clean out and organize his work van. He is still tired but said this morning he will not lay in the bed even if he sleeps standing up. We got to get this medicine sorted out.

FCM there are worse days for a dryer death. I bet there are some awesome deals at Sears and Home Depot today for appliances. Why there are appliance sales for Memorial Day I do not know, but it seems to work that way.

We were going to go to the Tetons and Yellowstone with my sister and her kids, which would be awesome, but I think instead we will move to Oregon, which is awesome in a different way.

For today, I got nothing beyond the usual planned, laundry and groceries.

Heartfelt congratulations and best wishes Meeks. May you have many happy years together.

So, Rosie, how’s it going?

Do you need anything? Axes, chain saws, body bags, concrete blocks?
I have a nice, well balanced axe here, just gathering dust.
Postage is on me.

I have achieved nappage. I considered goin’ out to the cee-mint pond but ‘tis really hawt out and da cave is nice and cool. I know, I know. Yes the water would also feel very nice. Still it would involve havin’ to put on a bathin’ suit and slatherin’ myself with sun screen which is just too much irk. It’s hard to out lazy da bear.
