The Walking Dead: 5.13 "Forget" (open spoilers)

If they never out right said it, it was strongly implied but yeah it is technically speculation on my part.

Sorry if anyone thought it was a spoiler of some kind.

Have we heard the number of people in Alexandria? It’s curious that outside of congresswoman, there are zero leaders in the community capable of holding positions of authority. Rich and Michone are cops. Maggie is congresswoman’s understudy. What’s Abraham’s job?

This episode was meh for me because it mostly just a lead up to whatever Rick and Carol are cooking up. Definitely interested to see where it’s going, though.

Have they show the Alexandrians growing food, or raising chickens or anything like that? Yeah, I get there are a lot of stores in the area and flour is probably good for years, but I’ve known people who raise chickens and I can’t imagine it’s that difficult, an easy way to get fresh eggs and meat, and a far smaller plot of land for chickens over cows. They must have some place for animals if Daryl was going to bring a horse back.

Well, we know they don’t have chickens, because people were shocked to hear that Carol could make some using applesauce as an egg substitute. And the mere thought of cookies was also enough to get a 9 year old boy to follow a stranger through the dark.

It sounds like apple trees (from Aaron’s spiel to the group) is the only nod they’ve given to “sustainable food source”.

That was the part I loved. Other than that it just seemed like a week or marking time.

Opinions on the last scene. Longing for the outside from Rick? Simple desire to kill more walkers? Or both?

Also, someone last episode said “we were almost out their too long.” What do you think they meant?

It was Glenn who said that, though Michonne has voiced similar sentiments. Both meant that extended wandering periods, in constant jeopardy, can lead to paranoia and a loss of civilized ways.

So, did Sasha leave for good? It looked like Janeway gave here some ammo and let her out. But there didn’t seem to be an explanation of what was going on.

And I think “Janeway” is perfect for Deanna. She irritates me for the exact same reason Janeway did. Her aggressive optimism and know-it-all attitude is very off putting. She needs to calm down a bit and step back.

I want Rick to have a conversation with Janeway that says something to the affect of “You are in control because I allow it.”

I like Janeway for the same reason I liked the original Janeway. Short woman in charge of a post apocalypse remnant of civilization? She’d have to be aggressive and in your face. I loved how Janeway would stomp right up to an alien twice her size and give 'em what for. Smart, strong, good at poker - what more do you want? I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s not at all surprised at everything Rick & crew are up to.

The Carol thing though, stealing guns that aren’t hers and threatening the kid - that could be a deal-breaker.

Keep in mind that a “deal-breaker” means the Alexandrians get either exiled or killed. Rick’s group isn’t leaving those walls for anything the Alexandrians do.

If Team Grimes tosses out or kilks the more numerous predecessors in Alexandria because TG doesn’t like the way the joint is being run-- which they can probably do–then they have become the villains.

It’s all about survival. There are no villains anymore.

Hey, he told them that on video.

“Evil Carol” made for good TV watching, but it didn’t make a lot of sense. First off, Carol should have been savvy enough to NOT be followed. Second, she should not have left the window open, just in case for some reason she WAS followed. And Third, a frightened young kid is not a predictable young kid.

“Really Evil Carol” would have shot him.

I find myself hoping that Carol planted the chocolate on the kid

chocolate missing
kid has it
kid claims an encounter with Ms Jr League is where he got the chocolate
kids claims Ms Jr League made a horrific and outlandish threat

grown-ups => 0.o

Thinking long term, let’s say they integrate and spent years (lol) with this community. That threat to the kid will be sitting there, festering, the whole time.

“Look at the flour, Sam. Look at the flour.”

Why not just lie to the kid? Say she came to steal chocolate for cookies, and was putting some guns back she forgot to return. Kid don’t care about guns, he wants cookies.

Seems cookie mix is missing in the zombie world. Can’t find a fucking chicken or an egg anywhere, much less a working freezer with cookie dough in it.

Life is hard.

Frozen cookie dough might have gone bad in the early days, but there should be warehouses full of boxed stuff.

Surprised they don’t have chickens. They’d go feral and be all over the place. Of course the animals would make noise (unlike the children) and give off a smell that would attract a million zombies, but whatevs…

Carol’s scene was the only decent scene in an otherwise crushingly boring season.
