I don’t know about the guy in the watchtower, but if you have a helicopter you don’t need to be within walking distance.

The way it was shot, it looked to me like Rick saw the helicopter, followed its path and came across a new camp of people. And Rick was on foot. But it hadn’t occurred to me that it was the trash people. Because that would be a stupid thing to do, wouldn’t it? Like, didn’t she try to kill him once?

It’s poss8ble that Gabriel intentionally ate some of the guts to make himself sick so he could have an excuse to get close to the doc.

I agree that this was the best episode of the season, but damn that’s a low bar to hurdle. This episode was still weakly written - just not excruciatingly so.

For example, are we really to believe that there is yet another large camp of people within walking distance of.the main supply line between Negan’s sites, and no one has heard of them until now? People that operate a freaking helicopter? Or is there something about that I didn’t understand? The guy in the watchtower was part of a new group, was he not?

And with all that’s gone down, Rick finds a strange new camp, and just walks up to them in broad daylight? Has he learned nothing?

The fight between Rick and Daryl was ridiculous. First of all, they then blew up those guns and explosives that would have been ever so useful in the future, because they were being idiots. Second, Daryl is now completely evil - no better than Negan’s bunch. Last week he shot a scared, surrendering teenager in the face for no reason. Now he wants to kill a whole bunch of innocent noncombatants, just because. And he’s willing to defy Rick to do it, even after being reminded that he would be murdering people who had done nothing to him and who presented no real threat. He should be out of the group on his ass.

Negan was right - people are a valuable resource. If they can’t put together a critical mass of survivors, humanity ends in a couple of generations. So I can see Negan’s logic - when every single person is critical to the survival of the community and ultimately the human race, well, if you have to kill to keep order it’s better to kill one or two spectacularly than to kill a whole bunch putting down an insurrection.

Rick, on the other hand, is willing to order his people to sneak into a facility and commit mass murder of precious remaining humans in their sleep, just because they are on the wrong side. The only reason Negan is more ‘evil’ on the show is because the people he killed are characters we liked, and because Jeffrey Dean Morgan hammed up the character into a caricature of a manic insane leader.

A couple of points. Rick blew up the weapons, not “Rick and Daryl”. His motivation, such as it was, was to stop Daryl from deviating from the Big Plan. Also, Rick is trying to save what he considers the innocents among The Saviors, but I can see why he feels the need to eliminate the soldiers. This is war, and in the ZA a “take no prisoners” approach is not unreasonable. Negan only doesn’t kill people if they are willing to be, essentially, his slaves. I’m not seeing that as any kind of virtue.

Daryl wanted to use the explosives to blow up The Sanctuary (is that what The Savior’s call their HQ?). Rick took the pack with the explosives in them and threw them into the vehicle, expecting them to explode there and deny Daryl the ability to alter The Plan. That’s why Daryl attacked Rick.

Also, all Daryl had was the motorcycle, so he had no way of transporting that big gun anyway. And with the explosives, he figured (I’m guessing) that he didn’t need the gun. Best to leave it at The Black Rock and just take the explosives.

I thought Rick was just tossing the explosives back into the pile of stuff they wanted to prevent Darryl from taking off with them. Would Rick destroy the machine guns? I thought they were important in his plans for the war. You do make an interesting point though.

That’s my take. Earlier in the scene they showed Chekhov’s Leaking Gasoline, and it was just a matter of time until the vehicle blew up.

After the fight with Daryl, he couldn’t get the jeep started so he said “looks like I’m walking.” And in the previews for next week, we see Rick talking to Jadis, trying to make a new deal. All part of the plan that’s slowly unfolding. As for the helicopter…we don’t know yet who it was.**

Rick was trying to prevent Daryl from taking the backpack, that’s all **Second, Daryl is now completely evil - no better than Negan’s bunch. Last week he shot a scared, surrendering teenager looked like an adult to me…an adult who fired shots at them, then tried to surrender after Rick and Daryl gave him a false promise about a car in exchange for info on the missing guns in the face for no reason.Can’t leave anyone alive at the outposts - all part of the plan. This is war, after all Now he wants to kill a whole bunch of innocent noncombatants, just because. I don’t think throwing him out of the group in the middle of an attack would be the best move.

At the time, they thought the one outpost was the entire group. They had no idea there were hundreds more Saviors. The only reason Negan is more ‘evil’ on the show is because the people he killed are characters we liked, and because Jeffrey Dean Morgan hammed up the character into a caricature of a manic insane leader.I see your logic here but unlike Negan, Rick doesn’t have several wives, Rick doesn’t burn faces with an iron for violating rules, Rick doesn’t have people beaten half to death if someone escapes, Rick doesn’t force people to work for points, Rick doesn’t hold people prisoner and force feed them dog food, Rick doesn’t throw doctors into a furnace. I think you’re forgetting that Negan’s entire survival is based off the backs of others. They extort other communities for food and supplies. Remember Tara’s visit to Oceanside? They mentioned how the Saviors killed all their men. Anyway, my point is…Rick isn’t even close to Negan’s level of “evil.”

Yes, but he was taking off with them in order to blow up The Sanctuary, and probably kill the workers (whom Rick wanted to save). The Plan is to kill the soldiers, but try to covert the workers.
