The Welcome To Autumn MMP

Up, caffienated, off to work. Booster Club meeting after work.

Nut, sorry about the juggling thing.

Good morning, my favorite band of imaginary friends!!! I’m home, in my robe, fighting off cats and a pug who are demanding my attentions, trying to clear up 4 weeks of stuff on my computer, including dust!

Yesterday’s arrival in NYC was initially uneventful. I woke stupid early, and at 4:30AM I was on my balcony taking pictures as we passed under the Verrazano Narros bridge. I also took some shots of Manhattan in the distance, but I expect they’ll just be dots on a field of black. When the ship turned, the Statue of Liberty was right there in front of us - also a blur of light on a field of black, I expect - I haven’t downloaded those pictures yet.

We had to vacate our cabin by 8 and we weren’t to be let off the ship till 10, so we were sitting around for quite a while. I called my sweetie a couple of times - he does not like Brooklyn or the associated traffic. I don’t blame him. He arrived shortly after 10, and we were still sitting, waiting to be let loose. When they finally called our group at 10:35, Mom and I charged out (but not before her cruise card gave her troubles again!!) and were were first to retrieve our bags and get in line for customs. Oddly enough, there were hardly any people in the barn, and we were processed in minutes. I don’t know why we were kept waiting so long.

Once we got outside, I called **FCD **and he said he’d meet us in the pick-up area - as soon as we got there, we saw him, so yay!! Mom had packed her bags so full, they wouldn’t fit in the trunk, so one had to go on the seat beside her. Who cares - we were going home!! Getting out of Brooklyn was a challenge, and we didn’t stop till we were almost out of New Jersey - **FCD **spotted a Cracker Barrel, and we stopped for lunch. He hadn’t eaten all day, and we’d had breakfast at 6, so by 12:30, we were all starved!!!

After we ate, it was only an hour or so to Mom’s house. I transferred all the photos from the thumb drive to her computer, I talked to my sister about the afghans I’m going to make for her daughter and future son-in-law, then we headed out. We had to stop in Baltimore to pick up Higgs - she’d spent the night with my bartender sister and her menagerie. Then we got to fight traffic in Baltimore (thanks, construction!) and we were finally on our way. Amazingly, the choke point near Waldorf wasn’t nearly as bad as some other times, so we got home while it was still light out. Yay!!

After unpacking and giving of presents and miscellaneous chores and stuff, I got a shower, then watched a little TV before surrendering to exhaustion. It was so wonderful to have an adult-sized bed and my memory foam and comfy pillows!! The windows were open and it was cool and I slept great! Guess I’m rested enough to attack all that dirty laundry I brought home, altho I do have enough clean stuff here for a few more days…

I do need to go to the grocery store - the fridge is bare, and we’re out of wet dog food. I think I’ll wake FCD, make him take me to breakfast, then get back into the swing of life at home. I’m glad I went with my mom, and I’ll never do anything like that again. It was just too much togetherness. And, oddly enough, her last comment before I left was “At least we didn’t fight.” Weird…

Anyway, I’m back!

Happy Toosday!

It’s a chilly 47 degrees outside.

I’m running a bit behind but I stopped in to say HEY anyway.

I guess I will be signing the lease and moving in today - or starting to move in anyway. OAOASO is planning to come by and change the locks and bring a TV for me. The cable guy is scheduled for tomorrow.

Who knows though, maybe we will settle today. I doubt it but who knows.

I am friggin exhausted, dog is still keeping me up all night. Last night I put him in theliving room with Sah-son with strict orders he was not to come back in my bedroom

Welcome back Moooommmmmm

Is that a Canadian “blurf”?
Welcome home, Mooommm. I want you to know, I’ve been good & used coasters, unlike some [del]people[/del] heathens whose name I won’t mention; isn’t that right, FLYTRAP?
Speaking of eggnog, I picked up a bottle of this :stuck_out_tongue:

Welcome Back MOOOOOOM! How’s it feel havin’ a pug and two cats glued to ya?

We have the orifice more or less back in order. The new carpet (carpet squares actually) is kinda busy. Blue with little flecks of what appears to be brown/beige/orange/red/gray/gold. And maybe green. Weird stuff.

Anywho, we be back in bidness!

**swampy **- busy carpeting can hide a host of stains and such. Surely you know that…

I’m having a hard time getting in gear. And no one has come by to offer me a beverage - can you imagine???

Welcome home, Mooom.

Blurf.

Surreal life?

Have a glass of tea, Ma’am.
I do apologize for the lack of coasters.

Yay!

Just got a phone call asking to me start the leaflet job on Thursday happy dance! Woulda been tomorrow, but I gots another interview, this one for a security receptionist job at a local theatre. Could be good.

Doesn’t look like I’ll be irking firday though, so I should be able to help out at the student fair.

Maybe it’s possible to harangue the union into a better room, or at least the promise of one later. It is a bit annoying though- the club was finally starting to get back active again after building works messed it up. Last years committee just weren’t up for doing much (I can hardly blame 'em, out of the three, one was in the last few months of his PhD, one was in France and the third was just getting sick of being the only one who did anything), so it was just drifting along, shrinking away, as some people left, but no-one new found out about it.

Anyway, I made blackberry and apple pie. Hopefully it’ll be cool enough to scoff shamelessly soon! I’ll send Mooooom a welcome back slice.

Welcome home Mooom!

Is it Tuesday already? I need to catch up. The semi-blurf will slow that down.

Yep, sounds like standard office carpet. Simultaneously innocuous and ugly, hides small stains except for that spot by the restroom door where someone dropped their coffee cup and didn’t let Corporate Properties know, so the sugar in their coffee didn’t get cleaned up and is now a big black stain.

At least that’s how it is at my office. Or was, since I’m now a full-time telecommuter. Yay!

MOOOOOOM and gotti I full-well know the idea behind busy carpetin’. I suppose it’s the reason behind layin’ carpet squares in a random pattern that looks like somebody chugged a twelve pack and then laid carpet squares.

gotti yay for full-time telecommutin’!

I am bein’ whined at by somebody who lost his ID badge for his trainin’ place. As if there’s anything I can do about that. So, da mean ol’ bear told him he would need to inform TPTB there and find out what he needs to do. IOW, “You are a grown up, so deal!”

Welcome home, FCM! I’m glad you’re back, but have to say that I really enjoyed all the trip narratives. Everyone pretty much behaved here, btw. Coasters were on the table at all times, or at least at all times that I observed them. LOL

Yay for full-time telecommute, gotti! That’s so much better than a long commute. I think my brother was on one of those trains that got stuck last month; he’s in Walnut Creek and works in downtown San Francisco, so he’s got a long commute.

So glad it’s the first day of Fall, first full day, that is. LOL Fall is my favorite season, I think. Having a Fall birthday helps of course, but I like the leaf color changes and the brisk air as well. Yes, we have color change in Albuquerque! Just not as dramatic; but if I want dramatic, Colorado is not far away.

Have a good Tuesday all, and good luck, sari!

Yay for Fall! My favorite season. Halloween (candy and dressup!) My birthday! Thanksgiving! Daughter’s birthday! NOT HOT! I repeat - NOT HOT! Did I mention I don’t like heat? My mom was having a little joke on me when she named me (yes, the sun is actually referenced in my name - amuse yourselves by figuring it out).

DH and I are off to meet with the school about my son’s IEP. This is the plan for managing his autism at school and keeping him in the regular classroom. So far new school has been going extremely well, so I am hopeful this will be productive. But, also a little gun shy. Last year the principal brought the police (yes, I said that - my son was 8 at the time) to a meeting and informed me my son’s only problem was that I wasn’t disciplining him enough at home. The police ended up agreeing with me. We switched schools for a reason. So I admit to a feeling of dread about this, hopefully without cause.

Sari - have fun with the new house.

Well, that was entertainin’. Oh and howdy from da cave. The entertainment was a big, loud KA*BOOM followed by no power at the orifice. A transformer blew. [del]Minion[/del] assistant and I took it as a sign to leave. Ok, I still have irk stuff to do, so do I shall. Woe.

'Tis taco night at El Rancho Da Bear Cave.

That seems to happen quite a bit at the orifice.
Are y’all sure that a big ol’ clumsy bear doesn’t tump something over?
:dubious:

I just finished skimming the MMPs that I missed, and there were a lot of things I wanted to comment about, but I only remember one. **Nut **- aboard the ship, the emergency number is 9-1-1 since it’s an American company. Same way the currency on board is dollars. So if my mom had a medical emergency, we’d call 9-1-1. However, for our plumbing emergency, the number was 6000. In fact, that was the number for any maintenance issue.

**Taters **- you were right about this not being the choice vacation for those who want to explore. It was a great way to get a peek at places to visit later, but I really don’t feel as if I’ve seen much of anything, really. And I think you commented about photos - I’m going to make up a photobucket album (did I say this already?) and post a link. It’ll probably take a few days - there are a LOT of photos to review - like 5 Gig of files, I think. Altho some of those are videos. Anyway, that’ll give you all something to look forward to, if you’re interested.

I just stuck a chickie in the rotisserie. **FCD **is in the shower. Higgs is melting down, but she doesn’t want to go outside to bark. First day at home is winding down.

And **flytrap **- no icebergs. Closest I came was in Quidi Vidi - one of the beers we tasted was supposedly made from pure iceberg water. Called, believe it or not - Iceberg Beer. It tasted just as nasty and bitter as the rest of the beers. But the blue bottles are pretty.

Tomorrow, I go to get blood drawn for my Dr appt next week. Exciting, huh?

Oh lordi, the last week has been crazy busy with meetings and freshers stuff. Today I went to the main dept meeting to introduce myself to 257 shiny new students. Fun but very tiring and I could have done with spending the time at my desk. I have work coming out of my ears but that just adds to the fun, or so that’s what they tell me.

In other news, 'im indoors has booked our big holiday for next year, we fly into San Diego and out of Calgary and we have 17 days to travel beteeen the two. Now to decide where to go, what to see and how long we need a car for.
