**Bunny **- it wasn’t a matter of calories or sugar, it was a matter of not having bought any. Silly me - I bought bread and lunch meat and some veggies, but I completely missed the ice cream aisle!!!
The oatmeal cookies are done, and that’s another recipe I can ignore. They’re too cake-y. I prefer my oatmeal cookies chewier and thin. But it was a small quick batch, and they don’t taste bad, just not something I’ll bother making again.
I have one load in the washer.
I ate some lunch, which was a good thing because I was getting shaky from not eating.
Now I need to get motivated to go get my script.
I found out that the chair part of a living room set I like is sold at Staples. Same price as ordering it so I may go get it. If I like it I can order the other pieces to go with it, if I don’t I can put it in the living room (which is tiny) and look for something else.
Another day driving round droppin’ off newsletters. Did manage to amek it to the last few hours of the stoodent fair. Took a while to get in- since they moved it from the Union building to the town centre, they’ve got a bit pickier about who gets in.
Was chaos in there, there’s a crazy number of societies, most of which made us look organised. Didn’t do much useful bar give everyone a lift home after, as there turned out to be 3 of 'em already there. It kind of turned into an unofficial meeting.
Got loads of sign ups, and the good news is the Union has agreed to rent a room in a circus/dance practice space in town for us, until the big room is available again! So we’re not in a broom cupboard after all!
I have sore feet from all the standing round, and I think ai shall have an early night.
A combination of new carpet smell at irk and ragweek is makin’ my sinuses hurt. Glad it’s Firday. Maybe sinuses will settle down over the weekend. ICK!
I wants to head toward da cave. Come on go home time!
Mooom’s mention of making cookies makes me want to make cookies. I have some new cookie cutters (Halloween shapes) that I want to try out, but I think I’ll wait until next month.
I just delivered my crocheted goodies to the store, and **FCD **and I walked around looking at the other stuff there. Someone has a ceramic bowl - nothing fancy or special about it, it’s just a bowl, for $40. It’s stoneware - at most, there’s $2 in clay and maybe another $2 in glaze (tho that’s being really generous.) Obviously the rest is for their time. I wish them luck, but there’s no way that’s a $40 bowl. It’s just not that nice - just a plain, thrown bowl.
When I got home, I took the t-shirts off the lines, but some of the jeans are still damp in the thicker seamed areas, so I’m leaving them out for another couple of hours. I think supper will be chickie salad, using the leftover chickie that I rotissed the other day. And Amish 'maters. And I don’t know what else, but I’ll figure something out - perhaps something with rice?
Swampy I thought Staples only had the chair, it looks like they have the whole set. I wonder if they have to order it or actually have it in stock?
If I order it from the store in Gaithersburg, OAOASO can pick it up and bring it out to me on Sunday. Then I’d have something to sit on besides the stairs. My butt gets sore after awhile.
I never know furniture shopping could be so hard. After you find something you like then you have to decide which pieces to buy.
**sari **- it’s so pretty! And I’m with you there on buying furniture. We absolutely loved our living room furniture when we sat on it in the showroom, but having lived with it, I wish we’d gotten something different. Oh well - not gonna fret over it - it’s not like we do all kinds of entertaining. But I will say, I lurve the recliner love seat! You definitely need one!
You, Sir, are obviously a slacker when it comes to sloth.
Dindin has been ingested. YUM! The N.O.T. turned out pretty good. I won’t say better than fries as it’s hawked on facebook, but still pretty dang good. Plus there’s ice cream for later.
Sari I forgot to say earlier, but I like your new digs. Looks very homey and cozy. Nuts I say the room with the bay window should be the Mumper guest room.
CVS is now on The List. I called in on Tuesday for a refill. They said they’d contact my Dr to approve a refill and it’d be ready today. Liars!! Apparently they’ve not contacted my Dr. I will be out of pills on Monday. With luck, I might get the meds on Weds. I am not happy. Dammit.
It’s my lipitor - I’ll just swipe a couple of FCD’s pills in the interim.
On the plus side, supper was good. All laundry is in and put away. Dishes are done. And I think I’ll start on another shawl this evening, or maybe another pair of slippers. Something.
Yeah, I’m *decimating *the little aloe plant on my balcony. Fight my ignorance, please: how does one, exactly take an oatmeal bath? Just add instant unflavored oatmeal to the bathwater? Mix it up as usual in the kitchen and then dump it in?
Wouldn’t that clog the hell out of the drain?
New Guy** and I are planning a multi-day camping trip a couple months from now (road trip!) so we decided this weekend we’re going to someplace close by and have an overnighter, just to make sure we know how to get the tent up and down, check all the gear, etc. And go fishing again! The weather’s supposed to be nice, and I have a few stressful events coming up next week so it’ll be good to de-stress ahead of time, and try to take my mind off them.
Yes, I’ll wear sunscreen this time. :o
** I’m gonna have to come up with a new name for him eventually, aren’t I? To be honest, at first, I wasn’t sure if it was going to work out between us long enough to bother coming up with a way to refer to him here. (Coming on half a year together, I guess we’re in it for the long haul.) That’s not an indictment against him; rather an acknowledgement that he and I are very, very, very different people. Different backgrounds, different family histories, hell, even different taste in music, movies etc. The Other Shoe and I were so similar in so many ways, it’s … I dunno, both challenging and refreshing at the same time to be with someone so different from me.
Wow, didn’t know that was going to turn into a mini-novel. Just wanted to pop in and say I’m goin’ fishin’ and campin’ and pop back out. Oh, well.
[color=purple]Shoe[/purple] does not have to sit in a tub of Quaker Oats [sup]TM** in order to have an oatmeal bath. You could, however, enjoy a bowl of Quaker Oats[sup]TM[/sup] if you desire. Anywho, if you are so inclined here’s a step by step guide to makin’ an How to Make an Oatmeal Bath and Soothe Itchy Skin]oatmeal bath. Or, ya know, just go to the sto’ and buy some. Aveeno[sup]TM[/sup] makes a nice one.
We shall now retire to the bedroom to watch teevee and see what else comes up.
They are the original hardwood floors Nuts, 100 years old and showing every bit of their age. I’m not sure how I feel about hardwood floors in the kitchen but I’ll see how it works I think the kitchen is a bit ugly but I’ll adapt. I want to put another set of cabinets on the other side of the fridge.
Thank you Mooomm and Swampy. You can tell it used to be one big house. I get two of the attic windows and the neighbor gets one. About 4-5 feet of the patio of the deck out back is mine. I have no idea what happens down the road when the house has to be repainted or something. I guess we can agree on colors or we each go out own way.
I think I can make the pretty room the visiting MMPers room. Sah-son said he wanted it but I have a feeling he may change his mind.
My apologies to anyone else that I missed. It’s very busy here. I do manage to read sometimes, but it’s hard to keep up. RT got a surprise Friday off, literally only the 2nd one since I’ve known him and so he came home Thursday evening and actually doesn’t have to be back to work until Sunday morning. Yay!
He’s in his music room and I just finished reorganizing our living/craft room. I may be heading to bed soon. Do I know how to spend a Friday night, or what??
