Things that go bump in the MMP

Just a note for people who like to do weird shit: The (Almost) Annual Shotglass Exchange is going on elsewhere in this forum. More participants would be nice. You get neat swag from strange people. Just sayin’.

No exposure notice yet - apparently the kid with the COVID cooties was in the room a couple of hours before she was and they disinfected between classes during lunchtime. The day’s not over yet, but the kids have been cleared by both the school and the dentist to get some teeth pulled this evening, which is sure to be a laugh riot for each of them.

They both have braces being put on next week and both are at a point where the braces really can’t wait for the rest of their baby teeth to fall out or their mouths will major need surgical rearrangement. Overlyboy’s already does given that his canines are growing down through the roof of his mouth like a vampire’s teeth gone rogue. Poor kid.

I take care of emergency triage (gaping wounds, broken bones, high fevers, “throwing & going,” possible poisoning scenarios, etc.), so my husband will manage this one. He’s great for calm in non-emergency planned situations that may cause temporary discomfort (shots, dentistry, etc.). So I’ll be wringing my hands at home. Or at my mom’s, who is mad at me for not having both put under with general anesthesia during the procedure (they’ll use local).

Ah, well - I hope everyone’s had a good day or night so far. I’m going to go work and try to ignore the fact that my husband is doing amateur plumbing and our neighbor is obnoxiously revving his muscle car outside.

Imaging has been done and I ache all over. Got my flu and shingles shots, too bad I couldn’t get my Covid booster today as well. If I’m going to have a bad day or two, might as well do it right!

Your schools Covid precautions are rather underwhelming, overly. Are you sure you don’t live in Arizona?

Oh my goodness! Magnetic shoes sound like an awesome way to find my needles! I thought you were giving me a link to a magnet on a stick, which I already have.

Yay for the vision improvement nellie!

sari, they don’t want my blood either. Some of the meds that I’m on plus the conditions they are given for put me on the banned list.

unknown, the magnetic shoes would help when I drop brads and eyelets in the carpet if I actually wore shoes in the house. :stuck_out_tongue:

Irked, came home, walked Nelson (he had a little visit with his girlfriend and her sister in the next building) and et. The week’s half over, thanks be.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

overly My canines came in above my front teeth, like some weird vampire… Went to the orthodontist who said I’d need many teeth pulled and braces for many years, because the canines are the cornerstones of the jaw. Went to a dentist and he said pull 'em out. So I’ve got no canines.

I’m gonna get the booster soon, what are they saying now, 6 months out? I got my second shot in March, so I think I’m due.

Irked hard today, much climbing of ladders and drilling into bricks to hang signs in the clients restaurant. Looks good, though. I actually dripped sweat a few times, even with the AC blasting in the place.

Stay safe and happy, all!

Howdy Y’all! Laundry got laundered and put away, even. Sup got cooked and et. Nappage and sloth ensued. Thus was the day at da cave. How do we keep up siuch a pace!

Nellie yay for good news from the eye doc and for bein’ less itchy!

I can get the booster at anytime since my second shot was in February, but I’ll let the doc do it next month along with the flu shot. OYKW has a doc appointment next Tuesday, I think, and will get shot then. We could also go to the pharmacy and get the flu and booster done and over with. Sump’n to ponder, I suppose.

I got my second vaccine dose in mid-April, and I think my co-morbidities make me eligible for a booster (same things that made me eligible in the spring). I’ll have to ask my PCP and my surgeon if they have any recommendation regarding me getting a pre-op booster.

I got my flu shot a few weeks ago, when I went to my PCP to discuss my new (and fabulous) lab results. I usually don’t bother, but I last year I got it in August and I didn’t want to wait long to get this year’s…I am not trying to mess with the flu these days.

The health system I use has an app where you can track all of your appointments and test results and notes: I’m in there pretty often, and I noticed that last week — once I turned 50 — I started seeing messages saying that I was overdue for a Shingrix vaccination. I guess I’ll ask someone about that at some point.

I had every intention of doing my laundry today, but forgot until I got caught up here (and it’s too late to start it now). Tomorrow I go to the office, so it’ll have to wait until Thursday. Tomorrow’s outfit might be a little on the creative side…

:open_mouth:

I don’t think my heart would have stopped pounding until this morning!!

Haven’t read anything.

Woke up out of a sound sleep to the sound of water dripping into the sink.

From the ceiling lamps.

So glad we’re in a hotel, and it’s somebody else’s problem.

Except moving rooms at 5 am.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave, then a beer run. I watched The Addams Family cartoon movie after hockey. I laughed.

Pfizer makes you magnetic, SpikeVax turns you into a 5G hotspot(I’m Team SpikeVax). I need to get my flu shot.

Yeah, that happened to me in 2015. It sucks(even if it was the apartment management’s problem to deal with).

Eons ago (well, around 2004 or 5 I think) I was sent to Houston for a training class. Since I booked an early flight home, I changed hotels the last night to stay near the airport. Imagine my delight when the smoke alarm in my room started beeping around 10 or so that night. I called the front desk - they apparently had problems finding the maintenance guy, then he had problems finding a ladder (the room had really high ceilings, for some reason. Eventually, the maint guy installed fresh batteries and I was able to snooze a wee bit before leaving - it would have been easier to move rooms but I guess that wasn’t an option.

I had another pretty good night, except that I forgot to turn off FCD’s 11PM meds alarm, so that was a rude awakening. He’s still crashed - I’m giving him another 30 minutes before he has to get up for therapy.

Not sure what I’m going to do today. My shoulders are sore so I’m guessing tylenol is in order. And I need eggs, so a grocery run is in order. Beyond that, guess I’ll wing it.

Happy Wednesday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 62 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 91 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. Second Summer is here. Today we shall lay in provisions and I have some church janitor Junior Warden duties to perform. OYKW wants to go to the hog trough Golden Corral, so we shall do so for N.O.L. Any need to feed after that will be via forage.

I was at a trainin’ in Etlanner in 1990 at a Day’s Inn in downtown (it was all class as it had a Waffle House attached to it) and the fire alarm kept goin’ off at night. Every night. All four days. Needless to say that trainin’ venue rated somewhat less than satisfactory.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas, alack, and oh so much bother, I suppose I must purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public attire. Oh, the struggle!

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Well, no therapy today. FCD is in a lot of pain. I’m about at the end of my rope - his neurosurgeon asked him MONTHS ago to get a CAT scan or MRI, or one of those things to see how his last spinal surgery is going. He refuses to schedule it. Meanwhile, he has pain in both legs, both knees, and both feet. Gee, what do they all have in common? Um, his back??

I need to call in a little bit and cancel his therapy, and he’s got an appointment at 8 with our family doc. I won’t fillet him, but I am having a really hard time being sympathetic. deep cleansing breath

Sorry, didn’t mean to spill all this here, but, well, you know.

Good morning!

We all gotta vent sometimes, FCM. Spill away. I am sorry that FCD is continually in pain.

Well, I made it back from Yakima and am home. However, I’m not DONE with the crap in Yakima. What a freakin’ debable. I have to approve funding for increased labor costs associated with the badly loaded CONEX. Damn, I’m just sick of this shit. I have OTHER stuff to do. There’s more, but I really just don’t even want to get into to it.

My sweet Adam turned one yesterday. They had a little birthday party for him to make his day special and on Saturday we all get to celebrate together. I’m looking forward to it!

We actually do have things that go bump in the night and sometimes day with no plausible explanation. We often hear running or walking on the second floor when we’re downstairs and it’s not running of the four-footed variety either. Things are moved all the time. It usually happens in the short hallway between the laundry room and the kids’ old bedrooms. Sometimes it’s in my bedroom.

The trip back over the mountain pass was mostly pleasurable. I lucked out again and didn’t really have traffic in front of me and the few times I did come upon someone they pulled over so I could pass. I couldn’t believe it. It was raining in the mountains and damn cold at the summit. If it had been four degrees cooler the rain would have been snow. Once I hit the populated areas adjacent to the mountain traffic increased, and that really was the longest part of my trip because traffic was bumper to bumper.

I had planned on being home earlier but had to attend a meeting so that delayed my departure from Yakima.

I think I am going to take Monday off, assuming that the government is open, that is.

Up, logged into irk, on my second cuppa joe, and I’ve changed the the cat’s water in the catio. Still ‘night’ here.

When I was in the catio, I think I heard an owl. The doves go ‘Hoot hoot hoot!’ The three calls I heard were ‘HOOOoooo!’

Taters I’m glad the return trip went more smoothly. I hope that the rain will start helping fight the fires up there. The rain did not make it my place, but I think the North Bay got some. I’m thinking positive.

I managed to forget that was looming. Boo! You should take Monday off though - because you deserve it!

My hotel horror story: I was staying at an airport hotel in Munich. They had those trendy “sill-less” showers. The fantastically huge floor drain is supposed to make up for that. It didn’t. My hotel room flooded, and they had nowhere else to put me. I should have asked the travel agency find me another hotel, but I didn’t for some reason (group meetings maybe). I spent the rest of the trip on a wet rug. I was not happy.

Today my eyelids are starting to de-puff - huzzah! I’m on benadryl round the clock until Friday, and using my inhaler. I probably won’t be using that particular medication again. The doctor did say we might do it again if the medication works for the headaches. It sounds like a bad idea to me, but if it helps with the head-stuff and they can manage not to kill me with the meds then I guess that’s what we’ll do.

I’m supposed to take the dogs over to a daycare/boarding place for an evaluation. Yoshi has only met other dogs on leash. It’s been ok, but who knows how that will go off-leash. Akiko used to love the dog park, but we haven’t been since the before times. I’m not sure how that will go either. My mom might get stuck taking care of them. I take care of theirs when my folks travel, so it seems reasonable to me. She doesn’t seem enthusiastic though… I do have rather a lot of them. :woman_shrugging: :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Other than the pet care situation, I have things in order for the trip I think. Laundry today. Car wash and fill the tank. Pack and leave tomorrow morning. Pick up 'Beamer and Neice from school and off we go. I kill me. Traveling with the family is never that easy. I’m already telling myself: it’s just a trip, don’t stress if we do almost nothing we have planned. Just. A. Trip.

Happy Weds Day everyone!

I hear owls in our neighborhood - well, when we can leave the windows open, that is. I think it comes from a yard to the north of us, but it may seem that way since my bedroom window faces north. In any case, I think it’s neat.

Eons ago when making one of my far-too-numerous treks up or down I-95, I stopped at a motel in NC. Yes, it was a cheap place, because way back then, I had to be frugal. Anyway, there had been some serious rain the day before, and much water seeped from the deck, under the door, and saturated the carpet. It was too late and I was too tired to care. At least the bed was dry, and farther in, the floor was dry. But I no longer go frugal - I go for comfort.

I have tread the mill. Now I’m just waiting for CVS to informs us that FCD’s meds are ready for pickup. Then I’ll swing by Food Lion for eggs and corn. I added veggies to the broth and shredded the last of the pot roast to make soup last night, but I didn’t have corn! The horror!! So I’ll add that today.

FCD made his imaging appointment - for tomorrow morning! HUZZAH!! We’ll have to leave here stupid early because the imaging service his surgeon is associated with doesn’t have a facility in our county. So we start our day with a 45 minute drive into Calvert County. Dammit. But I’m glad he’s finally getting it done - long overdue!

And the peasants rejoiced!

Tooth yanking was successful last night and both children, overlyboy particularly, now look like very young hockey players. Apparently it didn’t hurt a bit and both got vanilla milkshakes for dinner, which seems to have made the whole experience worthwhile. To them, anyway. I am not looking forward to the bill.

Anyway, going to Iowa tomorrow to see Dad. My sister is coming in today and we want to get as much time with him as we can while he remembers us, which apparently will not be much longer. I don’t even know what to think about that. We’re not close. He wasn’t a big part of my life so he’s more like a close acquaintance, but it sucks nonetheless.

Waddlage has been accomplished for the day. It’s supposed to be beautiful and hot, hot, hot, so glad I got it done early. I’m excited to see my sister again. The circumstances suck, but she’s a good egg.

Happy Hump Day!

Got the dogs off to daycare. Ripple was so damned excited to be there that he dragged me out of the truck.
That’s Echo’s job.

Wait until he finds out he has to see the vet today, for his distemper shot and yearly checkup.
The daycare ladies are going to put a muzzle on him before the vet gets there.
I wonder why there are no daycare men?

Nice day though, bright 63 degrees.
We have to pick up groceries at 2:30.

My son needs to get his license. I never know what time he is getting off irk now that the busy time is over.
That might be part of why I am so tired.
I doubt I have covid. I think I’m just tired and bored.
I do have some stress, nothing major, just lots of minor bullshit.
Every day it is something.

Looks like the VPN server went down. The company’s Internet is working, as I was able to make a call to a cow-orker. She also confirmed that the Internet is up. I used Outlook online to send a message to IT Support.

Because men don’t want to work for slave wages?

FCD is napping. Still waiting on CVS to fill his meds. So I guess I’ll knit for a while.
