Things that go bump in the MMP

My father used to work closely with Billy Joel’s father - I think there was some mentoring involved.
Anyway, he used to tell stories about being at their house, and “this young kid” would play piano to entertain them.

Well, having whined incessantly about $$ woes, I now find myself with more shifts than I know what to do with!

If I don’t get cut early, I may wind up with a whole hour of overtime, despite the shenanigans earlier this week. :upside_down_face:

Woo-hoo! Yay for Roxy!

Shoe yay for money! :money_mouth_face:

I’m tired, but that’s par for the course. Last night we stayed up until 12 watching a new show. This morning I am paying the price. We had dinner last night with my parents and my sister and gang. It was fun. 'Beamer will be off on the bus in a bit, and then I must pack for our trip. We’ll aim to leave by noon. I got a pet sitter for the big dogs, and the little ones will stay with my mom. Pixel had another seizure last night. I’m hoping things go well for him while we’re gone.

Morning all. Up at 7:30am this morning, so perhaps I’ll be a little bit more motivated to do stuff today (the kitchen needs some attention). One of my soccer games got cancelled, the other team did not have enough kids due to Fall Break this coming week, and my 12U team may be undermanned as well. Why they need a break the first week in October of 2021 is still a puzzlement to me…

*nellie, hope the itch goes away. And the gunshots.

shoe, may your paycheck make you happy after work; do you get paid weekly or monthly?

FCM, nice getting money back from the utilities. And Yeah for Roxy!

Unknown, been to Olduvai Gorge in Tanzania years ago while on vacation, it’s a rather nondescript site, but know the Leakey’s had been there and what they found… I am greatly impressed by your working for them. And we’re not a bunch of Spring Chickens here, either…

OK, need to break fast and perhaps put the sprinkler on the lawn, so all y’all take care.

The imaging was quicker than I’d expected. The only downside was their CD burner was down, so FCD didn’t get a copy of the images. But they’ll be available to his Dr on line, and that’s what really matters.

Once we got home, I set up the sprinkler for the grass seed I flang about the other day and I tread the mill. Now I need to empty the dishwasher. Supper will be the veggie-beef soup I created the other day. FCD is going to try to sleep - he’s just back from picking up some meds that should help. Fingers crossed.

I guess after I tend to the dishes, I can knit. Or I could do something else, but I think knitting wins.

Heaved, then had to pull stuff for some of the package cars., including for (non-Canadian)Dave. Which meant I got to heat him yell “FUCK” every minute or so when he scanned a mislabeled package. And speaking of mislabels, about 3 cars worth of stuff got sent to the 200 boxline, instead of Door 82 and Door 46. Big fun fixing that. And I’m starting to wonder if one of my coworkers has a little crush on me.

Been there done that. Glad you didn’t get nicked by stray rounds.

:champagne:

Woke up a little after one in the ayem to urinate. It seemed a little dark (the room, not the urine). The clock was off. Apparently the gale we were warned about Tuesday finally decided to make its appearance and it knocked out the power.

After attending to the physiological imperative, I got my phone and set the alarm for 0420 and went back to sleep. I woke at 0417, and the clock radio started beeping. So I discovered the clock has a failsafe in case of a power outage. It was beeping instead of playing the radio, but that’s good enough.

I usually drive away from the beach in the mornings, and I did today. The cross street had street lights. I decided to go ‘around the block’ (this is a 2-mile walk when I walk) to see what’s what. The ‘major’ street also had lights. I went down to the beach and turned up the road. I saw a light lighting a flagpole, so they had juice. Shortly beyond that, the road was closed. About a half-mile up the beach, at the street we live on, I could see the bright lights of repair trucks. I turned around and headed to irk.

No coffee, of course, so I stopped at the gas station/mini-mart for my 30 ounces. Only cost 99 cents. (Well, $1.08 with tax.)

The Missus reported that the power was back a little after six.

Happy Thorsday!

Chilly 48 degrees at the park this morning.
One big dog fight, as in two big dogs, which involved blood, not my dogs, not my blood.
I hope the guy who got bit is okay, I saw blood on the gate when I left.

I think my ex-neighbor, R, is coming by today. He didn’t come over the weekend because the other ex-neighbor’s, C, father was rushed to the hospital Friday night and he passed on Saturday. R said he was coming today around 5, but he texted asking if earlier is okay because his nephew died Tuesday, and he needs to spend time with his brother. Then he texted me last night that his niece’s husband was hit in a head on collision yesterday.
I expect he won’t be visiting at all.t I took off irk early so if he wants to come by, he can.

Shit like this always makes me sit back and put my own petty problems into perspective.

Got da jungle shit straightened out.
Waiting on checks from the old mortgage company, the phone company, and OAOASO.

FCD has Been sleeping for about 3 hours. That’s the longest he’s slept at one time in eons!! Better living thru chemistry.

Well, I’m still here, so obviously no drive-by shootings. And no word on any arrests or injuries, so hopefully just someone letting off steam or something. I slept in and woke up with my ol’ pal, Itchy. I really want to break off this relationship.

I’m going to grab the umbrella and babushka cart and head to the store today to get ingredients for soup. I forgot to mention yesterday that I took the cookie recipe to the manager, and she said the (new-ish) secretary couldn’t recall my name, so they had to watch security tapes to see who I was so she could get the recipe. I thought that was funny.

FCD, yay for Roxy! And a very quiet cheer for FCD getting some sleep. When will you get the MRI results?

flyboy, glad power was restored. I so appreciate utility workers.

Oo! Do tell! Is this someone you’d want to have a crush on you, or is it Creepy Marvin whose greasy hair is always falling in his eyes?

Sari, wow, so sorry about R’s nephew and his niece’s husband. That’s a lot of tragedy in one family. And the dog fight sounds horrible.

Grr to the shipper of a product I need. I just got the “your item has shipped” message, and when I check the status it says delivered. I never actually made it to the shop today, cuz I was working for the restaurant client, so who knows where it is. Hoping for a box on my stoop in the am. Had they sent the Item has shipped message when it actually shipped, I would have gone up and received it.

Boo to Creepy Marvin!

FCM Those imaging videos are kinda neat. I, somewhere around the house, have a video tape (yeah it was that long ago) of the arthroscope surgery of my ACL replacement. I managed to watch it once.

Everyone else, boos, yays, and so forth, as needed.

I guess it wasn’t the gale that knocked the power out. While electricity has been restored on our street, there are still a few houses on the beach that were still without power at 08:50 according to PSE’s outage map:

  • Start time:09/29 11:50 PM
  • Customers impacted:6
  • Cause:Accident
  • Last update:09/30 08:50 AM
  • Est. restoration time:09/30 10:00 AM

Accident? The speed limit is 25 mph along the beach, but people have been known to ignore it. I suppose it’s possible someone had a little too much at the bar. Or maybe they were blown off the road by the gale. I don’t know. But it’s interesting to see ‘accident’ as a cause instead of ‘tree fell over’, and that the outage seems to have started before midnight.

Finally got shelving unit 1 of 2 assembled. Will start loading it soon (I need to empty a plastic storage tub to get it out of the way to put together unit 2). Still trying to figure out reasonable storage for the knee scooter DH acquired before his second leg surgery (stupid thing does not fold and is too wide to put on top of the shelving I’m putting in).

R came by with his pug puppy. Ripple and Echo were delighted to have friends come over. Kodi is still tiny, but fearless in the faces of two dogs 5-6 times his size. Ripple loves puppies, but he looks scary when he plays with them. He really won’t hurt them, but it took R a little bit to relax.

I’ve been looking at houses online and saw some new ones. I was checking out the floor plans and saw something called a ‘Stuff of Life’ room. Fancy name for the closet under the stairs.

The dog fight was a bit scary as it was between a rottie and a hound, who was just about as big as the rottie. The hound started it, the rottie is a big baby. The hound has not been neutered and that may be part of the problem.

Beautiful 70 degrees outside. To bad the mosquitoes are so bad.

Howdy Y’all! Just so you all know, I did not sloth all day. Besides makin’ sup, which has been et, I rummaged around in da freezer and found a small pan of dressin’ which will go nicely with the turkey boob I plan to roast Sattidy. Also, I tidied up the place where the pots and pans live as it had gotten very unruly in there. So, see some productivity.

MOOOOOOM glad FCD’s appt. went okay and that the meds helped him sleep. Also, yay for accident free RoxStar day! Hope the yay didn’t jinx today.

Nettie yay for the shelf assembly!

Nellie glad you did not get shot. Hope you are less itchy today.

sari YIKES! Glad there were no injuries in the dawgfight.

flyboy glad it was not a long power outage.

VanGo I have pictures of my colon. I keep offerin’ to enlarge and frame ‘em so folks can have their own print but I keep gettin’ told no thanks.

I’m midway through unit 2, and have to take a breather. This one’s every bit as stubborn as its twin.

That’s strange, now you know what you are doing and how its supposed to be done. The second one is usually easier for me because I have already made all of the mistakes possible on the first one.

I’m glad **FCD’**s appointment went well and that he’s getting some sleep. Wednesday, I had three MRI’s done and it was exhausting. I am noticing that medical offices are scheduling better. I think that’s because they don’t want patients hanging around and giving them COVID. My imaging session only ran an hour and a half from check in to walk out. Last time I had this done, it was over three hours, most of it spent waiting.

I apologize to everyone for my bragging session yesterday. While I’d like to blame it on the mead, its still very embarrassing.

It was a CT scan and I guess once the surgeon has a look, he’ll let us know if there’s anything of concern. If not, we’ll see him in February.

FCD is fascinated by all that stuff. He watches videos of the procedures that he’s getting so he knows what the surgeon will do. Me, I just want to go to sleep, then wake up bandaged.

We both went to pick up Roxy, then FCD wanted soup and salad at Olive Garden, so we took Daughter and Granddaughter with us. Just got home a few minutes ago, and shortly, I will assume the knit position on the recliner. Much chorage tomorrow, but chillage tonight.

seanette, you made the right call re the celebrity interaction in the wild. I’ve lived around Nashville for the past quarter century and running into celebs at the grocery store or somewhere else you go to on a regular basis is pretty common. They need milk for their babies or want to enjoy Chinese food on a Monday evening with their family same as us.

Yay for an accident free day for RoxStar Mooooooom!

Irk was disjointed today, what with a half an hour safety meeting this morning, followed shortly after with a fire drill. The company did treat us to the Buster’s ice cream truck this afternoon though. The coffee-oreo was rather tasty.

I was so bushed that I took about a half an hour nap this afternoon once home. I swung through the apartment office on the way in from irk to inquire about all of my maintenance work orders and let the manager know that if no action was taken, given that there was record of them being submitted prior to re-signing my lease, I would have no issue breaking said lease if they weren’t taken care of. She said that she’d try to have someone here tomorrow for several of them.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

The sun came out and it warmed up when I was heading to the store, so while I got the ingredients for soup, I think I’ll hold off until Saturday. A friend called and invited me to go hiking near Rainier tomorrow. I’m not sure about the wisdom of going with the itch, plus I have an eye doc appointment at 4 for the contact lens issue, but she promised to have me to the appointment on time, and I’ve been wanting to do this hike for ages, so I’ll wear sunscreen and my big hat, take along meds, and hope for the best.

Still no word from the allergy clinic, even though I left another message this morning saying I’m in itching hell and really need an appointment. If they’re too busy to even call me back, this doesn’t bode well for my getting an appointment any time soon. Why is this so hard?

red, I hope maintenance shows up tomorrow. I wish the manager had said she would have someone there tomorrow instead of she’d try. Fingers crossed!

Heh.

Jeez! What a run of awful news in a row. I’m so sorry your ex-neighbor - and by proxy, you - are dealing with so much bad stuff at once.

Indeed.

Now, see, I can find a whole new set of mistakes on the second go-round.

I hope you enjoy your hike! Hopefully the fresh air & change of scenery will do you some good.

I’m thawing a box of frozen samosas (peas & potato filling) that comes with some tamarind chutney … very much looking forward to that. There are also two avocados on the counter, and I think one is nearing or possibly already within the brief window of ripeness.
