Things That Go Bzzzzz In The Night: A Ghostly MMP

Holy bananas. I was on fryer so didn’t see what was happening behind me … until I had five seconds between tickets, turned around and … {gasp!} there were easily twenty tickets on the pizza line.

TWENTY TICKETS. Our ovens were hoppin’ tonight, lemme tell you.

For a brief bit, we had a 45-minute wait. “You wanna pizza? Sure, buddy, whatcha want … but it’s gonna be a bit, we’ve got a 35-45 minute wait time.”
"Whhaaaa … ? "
{hangs up}
Okay, good talk, good talk. (A Midwest term I’m learning.) Frees me up to deal with … aaaallllll the rest of this lineup.

Like, dang y’all!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 58 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 83 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. Sloth, day drinkin’, nappage, and tackleball are on the agenda for the day. I shall also make the casserole for tomorrow. I can warm it up in the nukelator in the mornin’. Oh, and we shall actually cook sup, which will be grilled ham steaks, green beans, scalloped N.O.T., and rolls. On the plus side, no reason to leave da cave today. Yay for that.

MOOOOOOM glad fCD’s Bday celebration went well. RoxStar knows how to give good gifts. Glad Tobester enjoyed the cake.

Bumba meant to reply on this yestiddy. Sounds like you had a good friend there, so sorry for your loss. Also, Hill Street Blues was a great show. I was addicted to it and to St. Elsewhere back in the day.

Nellie glad your doc appointment went well. Purgatory is not a Whiskypalian thing. It it were I’d probably have a deluxe suite so I could be comfy cause I"d be there a while.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah,

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

Unlike a fridge, I don’t consider a dishwasher to be a critical appliance. If I have to wash dishes by hand, so be it. Not my favorite activity, but I grew up hand-washing dishes, so it’s not that big a deal. I can afford to take my time and wait for a sale.

It took us back to when our daughter was about her age, and wanted to get her dad some “blue grabby things” - which translates to pliers with blue hand grips. To this day (more than 3 decades later) he still uses his blue grabby things. So I think it’s genetic.

Mel helped me sleep thru much of the night, so yay! I was finishing my toast this morning when Roxy came toddling out. She’s out of jammies, in clothes, and eating toast and a glass of milk. Shortly, I’ll plant her in front of TV and get a shower. And in an hour or so, we’ll head out, dropping her off on the way.

Hope we’re not too long with the in-laws today - FCD needs a break.

Happy Saturday!!

Good morning.

It’s currently 43 degrees and cloudy with an expected high of 49. The day will consist of cloudy skies interspersed with some possible rain showers. It was a very wet, soggy, and windy day yesterday. Two rivers down in the valley below me reach flood stage but are supposed to start ebbing back somewhat.

bumba, I’m very sorry about your friend.

FCM, I’m glad the birthday celebration went nicely and I sincerely hope the in-law visit is short today.

nellie, I’m glad the doctor’s appointment went well. I hope the healing is quick and the bruising disappears soonest.

sari, this is going to sound crude, but you seriously need to dump that bitch. She causes you endless grief and at some point, you’ve got to take care of yourself. Friends don’t constantly harass and abuse you.

I need to finish my coffee and get a move on. The kids and grandkids are coming down today. It’s going to be a busy day.

Thanks for the kind words regarding my daughter. She’s on the mend, so, there’s that.

Swampy, yep. I need to talk to her about that. One of those ‘Come to Jesus’ talks. This is serious business, you know! Oy.

I’m having the last of my coffee, and trying to figure out my day. I know there will be laundry. It’s all in the hallway, outside the laundry room door, waiting on me. The dogs had to jump over the piles, on their way to, and from, our bedroom. Jeez. So, that’s on the agenda, for sure. Plus, I need to have clean clothes to wear to our Heathen Breakfast Club, in the morning.

There will be vacuuming to do, at some point. At least the Halloween stuff from the front porch was taken down, yesterday. My daughter did that. Good thing.

As of this morning, we’re under a ‘High Wind Advisory’. 40 to 50mph gusts. I guess there was a massive BOOM! of thunder, earlier this morning. I missed it. Damnit. My daughter said it was so loud, and so sudden, it made her jump, and scared the piss out of her. LOL
We’re supposed to have rain for a bit longer, this morning, and that might be it. We’re in dire need of some rain, though. We could walk across the creek, and not get our feet wet. It’s pretty pathetic.
It’s supposed to get up to around 70F. Not bad! It’s supposed to drop to around 43F, tonight. Also, not bad! I can deal with it just fine.

I’m trying to decide what to make for dinner, and I’m pretty sure it’s gonna be cheeseburgers. With bacon. Also, LOTS of onions, mustard, and maybe even some pepperoncini sliced up on it. With a side of plain Lays chips. That’ll work.

I read all, and retained very little. I wish everyone a good, pleasant, uneventful, safe day. Please take care. You’re all the ones that are getting me through, a lot of the time!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 10c/51f with a predicted high of 12c/53f today, and cloudy. Weather app says “It’s fucking black over Bill’s mother’s house outside today” which is pretty accurate although where I come from, you don’t need to say any more than “It’s a bit black over Bill’s mother’s”

I was up early to feed and medicate the cats, do the litter trays and get some granola for my breakfast before heading to the gym. Three classes done, and I called in at the pet shop on the way home to get 90L of cat litter so I’ve hauled three big bags of litter around today as well. I am having a restorative cup of tea, then I need a serious amount of purtifying as I’ve got to go out and about amongst the public. Errands in town must be accomplished, chief amongst which is getting spare keys cut for the catsitter.

We are going to Scotland later this month and I’ve booked a lady from Kitty Angels to come and look after our mogs while we’re away so that we don’t traumatise them with the cattery. We had to have the locks changed on the two front doors recently so we only had one spare set of keys which live with my Wednesday pub friends. Another spare set will be useful, and the catsitter can hang on to them as I hope to continue using her company when we’re off on our travels.

Right…must go and do stuff before I seize up again!

Good afternoon!

Weather forecast originally said rain would end by 9:00. It lied. It’s almost 3 in the afternoon, and it’s just tapered off. If it stays like that for the next half hour, I might convince hubby to go for a quick walk.

Washed the sheets, so we should probably make the bed sometime. Might be a good idea to do that before our walk.

Went to the store, and they had pieces of butternut squash on sale. I bought 4 and put them in the oven, and now I have 1 kg of puree for breakfast/baking, etc. Since they were only pieces, I didn’t have to deal with the seeds, strings and stems. Not too shabby.

Still have lots to do today, but at least I found the tickets for Wednesday’s concert. We bought the tickets a year ago, so I’m glad I didn’t misplace them. I thought my friend was going as well, but she’s not sure she actually bought a ticket. If she did, she doesn’t know where her ticket is.

Yesterday I did a health check at work. Not good news, but nothing I didn’t know. So I should really move my butt, regularly, and eat less. Easier said that done.

Speaking of moving, it’s that time.

Have a great Saturday!

I’m sorry for your loss bumba. Your friend sounds like the kind of person anyone would be lucky to know.

sari, BarkyMom is making demands on your time. If you’re not getting a paycheck or it isn’t reciprocal, she needs to back the eff down. Just my $02.

Well, it’s been an adventure this morning already, mostly before coffee.

When I went to unlock the deadbolt to take Nelson outside this morning, it didn’t work. :open_mouth: There had been issues locking it over the years (maintenance had done a repair on it once), but never unlocking it. I tried the emergency maintenance line, but no one answered at 0600 on a Saturday. After messing with it for another hour, I called the non-emergency line for local law enforcement. Before they sent someone, I finally got it open with a couple of screwdrivers. I called back to cancel, but will try calling maintenance again in a few minutes.

It was scary to me, given that it’s my only door exit. Also, examination with the flashlight revealed the half-assed installation of said deadbolt (the plate screw was put in at an angle and breaking the surface in the lock hole, plus pennies to shore up the jamb plate. WTF?) I’ll just be glad to have it replaced.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

The power went out for a second last night. Mr. Coffee made a sound like a dying electronic spring. I reset the time and the brewing time when I got up to urinate, and pushed the Delay button so we’d have coffee this morning.

The Missus complained the heater wasn’t turning on. I checked the propane tank, and it was at 55%. The pilot had gone out. I’ve re-lit it, and the furnace is warming up. I wonder if the wind somehow blew it out? Maybe hit the exhaust just right? I hope that doesn’t happen when we’re on vacation.

Busy morning here. Mow-mulched the leaves, 2 loads of laundry, with a third on the way, about to head out to Trader Joe.

red Hope the door gets fixed soonest. That is kinda bad. A couple of weeks ago I had a similar situation with my garage door.

It was a reasonably shot heave today. The odd item in overgoods today was a box of Communion wafers. [Homer]Mmmmm…sacralicious…[/Homer]

Coupla years ago, a Doper mentioned that you can buy Ash Wednesday ashes on Amazon.

Well, my silly butt went “ferrealz?” and checked. Yep, ferrealz.

Also, my Amazon had the weirdest suggestions for me for a while.

And I was raised Catholic. But still.

Home again! FCD put the new tags on BIL’s car after buying a mounting bracket for the front - FL doesn’t have front plates but MD does. While he was doing that, I helped BIL with his resume and job app, then cleaned their living room rug. I put down a couple of old sheets so we could put their furniture back in place without worrying that it’d stain the clean rug. They’ll take the sheets up before bed tonight so the rug can finish drying under the ceiling fan.

FIL was halfway out of it today - talking about going into the neighbor’s apartment to look out the window… weird. After we left, we stopped for lunch and I got a call from BIL that their TVs were messed up, so we went back after eating. Somehow, the input had changed so they were getting snow on one TV - I fixed that one. BIL wanted to be able to hook his laptop to the TV so he can watch his rasslin’ channel - FCD figured all that out and showed him how to change inputs. After that, we finally came home.

We got out the mulcher/vac and hooked it to the mower. Tomorrow, FCD is taking Roxy to lunch and to see Lyle, Lyle Crocodile and while he’s gone, I’m going to suck up leaves. But the rest of today is dedicated to chillage. And reading.

Remember, remember, the 5th of November,
Gunpowder, treason and plot.
I see no reason
Why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes, 'twas his intent
To blow up the King and the Parliament
Three score barrels of powder below
Poor old England to overthrow
By God’s providence he was catch’d
With a dark lantern and burning match
Holler boys, holler boys, let the bells ring
Holler boys, holler boys
God save the King!

Anyone lighting fires tonight?

My grandkids got haircuts today.

I think Roxy is adorable - I’d been hoping she’d get her hair cut for some time now:

Tobias before, with the man-bun unfurled:

And after - so much nicer:

… despite the reported squirminess.

I can now stop biting my tongue - they’ve needed haircuts for ages - so glad it’s finally done. I know part of the problem was finding someone who knows how to do mixed hair - I think my daughter found a good one.

OK, back to chillage.

Afternoon all. Taking a break between referee jobs, did three this morning and early afternoon and have one more at 5:30pm. Rained most of the second game but I missed the biggest amount of rain by being off from 10:30-1pm (not sure if smarts or luck were responsible). Was a 'Assistant ref" (one of those folks running the sideline) and all the games were close (2-2, 0-0, and 3-2) so I was working extra hard to make sure my calls were good (or at least looked good). Reward was 3 cookies at the Soccer Central…will eat more once the last game is done.

FCM, lovely pictures of the kids. Enjoy the chillage.

Y’all moving boxes of BB’s now?

red, glad you were able to break out of your house. Sounds like they owe you a properly installed deadbolt.

shoe, sounds like the place was busy enough that nobody was worrying about your blowup a couple days ago…

nellie, glad to hear everything went OK and visit with the youngn’s went well.

OK, need to get redressed in Referee garb and head on out. Take care all.

Howdy Y’all! I got stuff done. For me it was a whirlwind of activity and I needed a gin and tonic whilst sittin’ out on the back porch after it was all over. I mean, I made a casserole and cooked sup! I can’t keep up a pace like that. It takes away from my sloth cred! Right now I am takin’ a tackleball break. I feel like this Jawja-Tennessee game is goin’ to take fifteen hours to complete. Really hope the second half goes a little quicker. On the upside, right now my dawgs are slappin’ those Vols around good.

ace she needs to come to Jesus right now and repent of her sugar in cornbread demon possessed ways. Also, I know from the book of faces that your power is out. Hope it’s restored soonest.

BooFae are you plannin’ on blowin’ up Parliament since it’s Guy Fawkes day? Given the events of the past few months, I could see where Parliament might deserve to be blown up.

red YIKES! Hope that is fixed pronto.

doggio were the pumpkin spice Communion wafers?

shoe I have a couple palm trees. Maybe I should start my own Ash Wednesday ashes bidness. I have access to oil of Chrism which makes the ashes extra smeary.

MOOOOOOM glad the visit was relatively (get it? relatively? I crack me up!) painless. RoxStar and the Tobster do indeed look spiffy with their new dos!

Getting hungry, and it’s only 15 o’clock.

Mooooom, both of the kids’ hair look great, but I’m loving Roxy’s. I would like to find a stylist who works curls like that.

The maintenance guy showed up at 1400 and replaced my deadbolt. Still, having no way to lock my door kept me in all day. :frowning:
