I’ll have to hurry home in my ottermobile.
Speaking of which… 14:18. I guess I have another hour to go.

Last night I stayed home with the porch light off and the front of the house dark (the living room light was turned way down, plus the doors to the 2nd and 3rd bedrooms were closed so the hall light wasn’t visible). Still got one determined person knocking on the locked storm door, but they were easy enough to ignore. The front door is just a few steps away from the couch, but one nice thing about having a locked storm door is that it muffles the sound of knocks.
This morning feels like it was a week ago. And there were a couple of hours at the start of the day when I truly thought it was Wednesday! Confused the heck outta one of my direct reports, when I asked her to show me the draft of an email that she doesn’t need to write until tomorrow. Heh. There’s no real reason for things to feel like this, which is weird (and also annoying). I think it’s just going to be one of those weeks. I’m taking next week off – partly to be available on election day if needed as a reserve election officer, but mostly because I really need a break – and I can. Not. Wait.
Happily, I’m done working for today.
Now I’m catching up here, and killing time until I need to leave for my in-person post-op support group meeting (another 30-40 min). I thought about skipping it, especially since I also have my first therapy session this week, but putting “real” clothes on and leaving the house is good for me. As is talking with other bariatric patients. So, I’ll go. I know I’ll be glad when I’m there.
That would drive me a little crazy! Both the sound, and the not knowing the source!
You weren’t kidding! ![]()
If ads for debt consolidation services are to be believed, the average person has $10K in credit card debt…but when I Googled “average credit card debt” just now, the first result said $5,769. I don’t find the higher number hard to believe, though!
Yeah, Bailey gets one, too: a “regular” Milk Bone cookie (vs the Milk Bone brushing chew she gets every morning). These days she doesn’t always eat them, but she always takes them from me and happily trots into the bedroom (where I later find them on the bed). Such a polite doggy! ![]()
*exhales* ![]()
That is very cool! I often daydream about doing things like that, but am hardly ever able to actually pull them off.
Time to give Bailey her dinner and get ready to head to my meeting. Hoping to have a chance tomorrow to catch y’all!
Glad the surgery went well nellie.
I love watching kitty tag JtC!
hippy, the last few years that I camped, I had double stacked air mattresses because sleeping on the ground didn’t necessarily mean that I could get up from said ground sans mechanical assistance.
nettie, does bitter apple work on cats? I coated a number of things like cables with it in preparation for getting Nelson when he was 3 months old. It seemed to work.

Congrats to OverlyGirl wordy. Glad you enjoyed yourselves.
Irked, came home, walked Nelson (he got skritches from the neighbor at the other end of the building who was cleaning out his car) and et. Such excitement!
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
I’m not sure. Also not sure it would help with inappropriate scratching, since I would think it would rely on taste. I’m leaning toward something citrus, since cats tend to dislike it, but it would be just my luck to find out he LOVES it.
When I was in high school, my mother had a puppy who tended to chew on wood furniture, so my mother applied Tabasco sauce. You guessed it, the furry little mutant liked Tabasco. ![]()
Happy Toosday!
Another quiet morning at the park. It was 56 degrees, wet, and foggy.
Only three people and five dogs. All of them were a bit sluggish today. I don’t know if it was from the rain or because they played so hard yesterday, they were still tired today.
Today’s agenda is to finish yesterday’s agenda. At the rate I’m going, it should be finished sometime next week.
{{{BooFae}}}
Congrats OverlyGirl
Happy you are home Nellie
Weird event taking my son to irk
Once I turn onto the main street off mine, I go about a few blocks and get in the left turn lane.
Somebody was coming up behind me and I guess I wasn’t going fast enough for them; they passed me on the right and then swerved into the left turn lane ahead of me. Kind of ridiculous because we are still within the city limits to be driving that fast. When the light turned green, the two cars in front of them moved, and they just sat there for a few seconds, and then sped off.
I’m thinking asshole.
They had green lights under their car, so even though it was dark it was pretty easy to see them, as they sped down the road ahead of me.
I turned onto the road where I hit the deer, it’s a pretty dark road, woods, corn fields, and industrial stuff. I go part of the way down the road and green lights is sitting on the side of the road.
I thought all that damn speeding and now you are sitting in the middle of nowhere.
So what do I see? They are putting somebody into the trunk of the car!
The road is not that dark, and it’s pretty well traveled, so not the place to do something like that.
The guys are young, and the one getting in the trunk didn’t look scared, then again, I was driving by at 40mph.
I had no idea what was going on, but I sure wasn’t stopping to look.
It could have been something serious, it could have been some kind of prank or game.
Then they were following me. I have no idea if they know I saw something or not.
I tried calling the police, but my phone kept going out.
Then they turned off into the big gas station/diner on the corner.
The police called me back, I told them the story and officers were being sent out.
When I drove back by, I didn’t see their car in the parking lot.
I guess it won’t be too hard to find a car with green lights under it.
When I was looking for something to stop GG from chewing on cords, folks recommended bitter apple…except for the person who told me that her Golden loved bitter apple, he ate everything she sprayed in on, he found and ate the bottle and then dragged the box out of the trash and ate that too.
Wrap your corkboard with foil. You can still stick tacks through the foil so it can serve it’s purpose, but most cats think that foil feels icky to their feets. Please do notice that I said most and not all.
How cool that the otters are figuring that your yard is a good place to hang out flyboy. When you are able to get pictures, be sure to share!
This morning they hurt hubs because GG was “hiding” behind the loveseat and VBC hoped up on the arm of the loveseat and batted him on the head. GG is too big to turn around back there, so he backed up as fast as he could to get away from her while she scampered to the other side of the loveseat in time to tag him in the butt. He came flying out from behind the loveseat like he’d been shot out of a gun, skidded on the laminate floor, bounced off the wall and spun out down the hall. Hubs should not be laughing that hard until his ribs recover.
I have three cats. I had to go on oxygen 24/7 so I trail oxygen tubing everywhere I go in my house. Then I’d notice I was breathless and sure enough, somebody had chewed lots of teeny tiny fang holes in my oxygen tubing when I wasn’t looking. I got some angostura orange bitters from target and wiped down the tubing periodically. Cats hate orange peel. I didn’t want to resort to the bitter apple or other concoctions because that tubing got handled by me constantly. Less then $10 and has worked like a charm with no nasty side effects for humans. I think a bottle will be a decade supply. I just saturate a cotton ball with it and wipe down the tubing. Then I store the cotton ball in a wee little container in the fridge door til the next time. It’s the normal cocktails bitters company, just their orange version.
Plus I’m ready for the most sophisticated of cocktail soirées.
JtC, the adventurers of VBC and GG always gives me a grin and the last story made me laugh out loud. Hope husband-unit is ok.
Sari, you do live in an…interesting…neighborhood.
nellie, happy that ths surgery went well and that you didn;t try to travel too soon. Take care and ease on back home.
Oopsie, I occasionally mix up days now and then, so know the feeling.
talkie, conga-rats to overlygirl for her swimmin’ triumphs.
Wet one, good luck on the job hunting. Reminds me I need to stop by B&N for a book that should be out now (Just part of a SF series I collect).
Bought some supplies at Staples and mailed a small box of leftover treats to a group that provides them to military folks, so that took care of my good deed for the month real early. Then pedaled a few calories and took a short nap before dining at Texas Roadhouse (I concur with FCM, their rolls are great). Home now and sloth is taking over.
Catch all y’all tomorrow.
I’m home and unpacked and in my comfy PJ’s. The train ride home was fun, one of those rare times when most of us in the car bonded and had a good group conversation.
I forgot to mention that I ate goat for the first time last night and loved it. My son ordered dinner from their favorite Indian place, and it was wonderful. My DIL made pumpkin gingerbread that was soooo yummy. The doc said no vigorous workouts for 2 months, so I’m probably going to turn into a blob.
JtC, thanks for another funny GG story. My daughter will love it.
Sari, yikes! That was spooky! Glad you got the cops involved. Even if it was a prank, it was a dangerous one.
We’ll be right over.
Up from naptime, having Redneck stirfry for dinner tonight.
I made my Manhattan with orange bitters tonight.
sari, that’s plain weird.
Glad you had a good trip, Wordy.
Welcome home!
I’m physically a $%=× better, but am also currently dealing with my mother, which is … where ARE those pointy spiders, and can we send some to Texas?
Cabrito!
I lost track of the spiders, but would an emotional support honey badger help? Hope your dad’s doing better.
I was rear-ended today.
End of the express lanes on the 5 NB in Seattle. There was a crash on the shoulder. People slowed down. Then after the crash, people stopped. I stopped. The guy behind me stopped. I looked in my rear-view mirror to watch the guy behind me to make sure he stopped. Then I heard an impact and then felt it. The Mercedes behind him hit him and pushed him into me. Then I heard a secondary impact. A small SUV hit the Mercedes. Then a semi hit the SUV.
No damage to my Prius. The front license plate of the guy who hit me was slightly bent. His rear bumper suffered some damage, but nothing to speak of. It might actually buff out. Or just take a coat of paint. You could see the six-inch Mercedes imprint. The Mercedes didn’t fate so well. There were parts on the road. The SUV fared worse. The semi was missing some plastic off of his bumper.
The ‘official guy’ from the previous crash said we had to wait for the State Patrol. After he checked on the SUV driver and the women in the Mercedes, he talked to the guy who was behind me. I came up and said, ‘He and I were both stopped. No damage to my car.’ The statie looked at my back bumper, saw no damage, and asked me if I wanted to be a part of the report. I said I didn’t, and he said I could leave.
Meatball sandwich, and Baken-Ets with ranch dressing for dinner. One of Wifey’s homemade truffles for dessert.
I think it’s about bedtime.
Bows and beams. The part I cannot ever put into words is the Really? Are you going to make it this easy??? look she sometimes gets.
GG is younger, stronger, faster and bigger than VBC. She is old and fat and slow. She is also smarter than the average kitty and GG…is not. After they roll around on the floor, they always take a group bath which involves washing which ever part of whichever kitty is close to tongue before their conjoined naps.
Wow, sari, you snuck a really scary story in while I was typing earlier. That is very disturbing and I hope it was just a Halloween prank.
DUDE!
I am so glad you were able to drive away with no damage to person or vehicle. That helpless feeling when you know you can’t do anything to avoid danger is the worse.
I hope you don’t wake up all stiff and sore from the adrenalin rush.
I think if you have dogs in your house and in night then started going wooo seeing a darkness. You are super sleepy and you started seeing a different shapes in the darness. you fix your mind that its a ghost thats why your dog is shouting. Eventhough you get the courage to go near and switch on the light and see a … pile of junk that you gathered. ufffff the nights.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. I wonder what fresh horror TVCTPMO will have for me?
I can’t find the tracking number for the spiders, but I could reroute some LIVE BEES if you like. ![]()
Yeah. Glad you and the Prius are OK(Between this and the cat converter, you should name him “Job”).
Once Lucretia D. Hellcatt got out, and I didn’t know it. At 0dark30, Maggie Wonderbeagle got up, and let out an unearthly howl, I look at the bedroom window, and see…a non human shape. If the cat hadn’t “meowed”, the next day headline would have been "House cat dies in hail of gunfire, owner charged.
Welcome to the MMP!
Could I donate my tub spider? Not sure if it’s the same one, but there’s a new one every 3-4 days. And then my husband, who has more patience than me, escorts the new arrival outside.
Today is boob-squishing day. Definitely not my favorite.
Fall arrived overnight, so I’m wearing gloves for the first time since last winter. Hopefully this means the mosquitoes will die. We both got new mosquito bites since Sunday. Definitely not my kind of buzz. I prefer the alcoholic type.
I went to bed early last night, but not so early that waking at 2 a.m. was a full night’s sleep. So here I am. I have zero plans for today except for a short walk. Not sure if I mentioned this, but the itchies are much better. The anesthesiologist gave e me some IV meds for them while I was in surgery, and they really worked. I’m very grateful and will tell the itch doc.
So have the pointy-stick-bearing ninja spiders gone into stealth mode?
flyboy, wow. SO glad you and your car are OK.
shoe, sending knock-it-off vibes to the Lone Star State. Hopefully they hit the right Texan.
susan, thank you!
Wow! We were above average! ![]()
It was for a short time, after several large and unexpected expenses (like car repairs) bombarded our budget. I hated seeing the balance that high and was glad when we had a chance to move some assets around and beat it into submission. But it’s good that we had the available credit and could deal with the unexpected quickly and easily. And now that all the jaunts to FL are done, such issues have pretty much disappeared.
Any chance you could get the recipe???
I have a dream that someday, someone will invent a device that slips on like a bra and can take all the pictures they want without any squishing. Probably not in my lifetime, tho…
FCD has no appointments with his folks today - huzzah!! This afternoon is supposed to be nice and mild, so I should be able to take the kids to the playground before returning them to their mom. After that, I’ll run to Food Lion for all the stuff I need for FCD’s birthday pot roast. I have the meat and the onions, and some carrots and no celery and few spuds… I’ll bake the cake tomorrow and I think I’ll put BIL off till Saturday so I have all day Firday to prep for the b-day dinner.
But today should be an easy one. Having said that, I know I just jinxed it.
Happy Wednesday!
