Things That Go Bzzzzz In The Night: A Ghostly MMP

As predicted, I’m glad I went to last night’s support group. There were just a few of us, but the discussion was good. And afterwards I exchanged numbers with one of the other women: we’re roughly the same age, with similar issues regarding food and exercise, and we both watched our moms deal with significant weight-related health complications. We might get a coffee or something before the next in-person session.

It was another “felt way longer than it should have for no apparent reason” day, but at around 4pm I realized that I could log off work early…so I did! Now I’m all caught up here (the boards in general, not just the MMP), and am gonna go walk on my treadmill for a while before making dinner and turning on the TV.

FWIW, in Howard County in 2015 it was $4700 (that’s what we did for my mom).

Gee, most people just drink their coffee…

Holy crap!! The plan they’d bought was $1800 for both of them - doubt it’s transferable anywhere around here tho. That’s why we’re donating our remains to the Maryland Anatomy Board - no muss or fuss for our daughter, and maybe somebody will learn something.

The kids had a good time at the playground and my daughter came over early to frolic with her spawn and I took off. Got all the veggies I need for the pot roast - now I need to find a big enough pot, or I’ll just divide everything into 2 separate pots. I’ll figure that out on Firday.

Supper was grilled tuna steaks (cooked too long, dammit!!) and salads. Chillage ensues. I want chocolate! No, I want non-calorie chocolate that tastes like Godiva or Lindt. THAT’S what someone needs to invent!

In Fred’s defense, as small as his head is, how much room is there for very many brain cells, really?

Got paranoid enough to bust out the Covid home tests. Solid negative. Not that that makes me feel that much better, given my history of testing negative while symptomatic back in August. I still have more tests. Also discovered where on the Kaiser website I could order a pack of four at no cost to me (between us, DH and I can have up to 16/month). Could also have trundled over to the nearby CVS and gotten some (again, no cost to me, my Kaiser card would cover it), but decided to mail order, should get them in a week).

My son-in-law is in town on business and invited me out to dinner. I thought that was so sweet of him. I wish I were up to it. I invited him over here and said I’d order in but said I’d completely understand if he decided to go out with his colleagues instead. He said he’s had enough of his colleagues, so he’s coming at around 6:00. I’m not sure what he’s been eating the two nights he’s been here, so I may wait to order until he arrives. He’s a very nice guy who’s great to my daughter, so I’m happy he’s coming, even if I am pretty wobbly yet.

So…I’ve distanced myself from an anti-vaxx friend, but I’ve been arguing in my head with her since the pandemic started. She’s never even masked up unless it was required. She said on the Book of Faces that if she should get COVID, her natural remedy “arsenal” would keep her from getting too sick. Well, she finally got COVID and has been down for the count for 2 weeks. She said she’s never been this sick before, which says something because I remember four years ago when she had a bad case of the flu. She’s on steroids and antibiotics and all kinds of non-woo Rx’s. I doubt this makes her a vaxx enthusiast, but hopefully it’ll get her to be more careful of others if/when the next pandemic hits. Too bad someone didn’t start buying Maine coon cats with her money.

I suck at slothing. Teach me your ways, oh swampbear.

Oopsie, so glad the group went so well and that you’ve found a kindred spirit!

FCM, I got a kick out of the growling boy.

Normally I don’t like to exclude people but none of you guys is invited to this party. Hope your boob is cooled off.

Howdy Y’all! We procured provisions, slothed, napped, day drank, fixed and et sup, and the kitchen is all cleanded up. Quite the day for us!

Nellie yay for your son-in-law comin’ to visit. As for sloth, it was tough at first, but with practice we became really good slothers. That’s it. Practice, i.e., know that there is a chore or sump’n that needs doin’, but elect to ignore it for a while. That will get easier as time goes on. I do not advocate total slobbiness, however. There’s a big difference between bein’ a sloth and a slob. Most days, some things get done. However, if one does not feel like it, then it is perfectly OK to sloth all day.

talky I do not want to go to that type of party. I appreciate not bein’ invited. Feel better soonest.

Nettie hope you feel better soonest, as well, and especially hope it’s not the plague.

Oopsie glad the group went well and that you found a new friend.

nice to hear. My SIL is great that way too and sweetly solicitous of me. He’s more patient with me too. At least as long as I don’t talk during live football broadcasts! I’m allowed to ask questions during breaks or commercials.

My surprise box of truffles were Lindt so I’ll assume they weren’t from you. A wise woman of discrimination such as yourself would have had Lindt truffles sent anonymously to herself.

Only so many Mumpers have my in real life name and address so whoever it was needs to come forward. ‘Fess up!

Truly, not I, but I wish I’d thought of it.

swampy, I do avoid slobbiness. Also slobbering…for the most part.

Post-surgery check up today. Things are looking good - they believe they got everything in my reproductive system - but they want 3 more bouts of chemo to try and make sure the stuff that got into my lymphatic system is truly dead.

I was expecting this - I am Stage 4 - but dad was surprised.

Good on getting some relief for the itch nellie.

Glad that neither you or the Prius were injured flyboy.

I made an executive decision today to take a mental health day tomorrow. I can count on one hand the number of times that I’ve had the bike out this year, so, weather permitting, I’m going for some wind therapy.

Meanwhile, we’ve dogparked and et supper and are currently practicing sloth.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Evening all. Stayed relatively busy today, did a little shopping this morning then went to the gym for swimmin’-n-sauna and got the car washed (place was called ‘Super Duck’ Nettie and was super-expensive), then watched soccer and changed the water filter in my refrigerator (bought enough for the next couple of years). Then checked my e-mail and found Delta had changed my flights in January so I had a 22-minute connection in Atlanta (yeah, right). The folks in the on-line chat got me squared away, have to get to the airport about an hour earlier than I planned but get to Miami about 3 hours sooner–at least until Delta changes it again… Also did some soccer stuff to finish up the year and fixed some sammiches for dinner. Now entering sloth mode for the rest of the evening.

kitap, sounds like mostly good news, hope the chemo knocks out the rest of the nasties. Take care.

nellie, sounds like your daughter got a real sweetie…and you got a great SIL. And despite their ignorance, I hope friend does recover.

wet one, sounds like your day was like mine; got to 74 and hardly a cloud to be seen.

There are times I’m glad I don;t drink coffee; or have boobs…

FCM, my will specifies I want to be cremated. Might be worth looking into a plan, given the possible costs that Oopsie mentioned.

Feel better soon, talkie; get thee to a Doctor if it doesn’t improve soon.

OK, dinner is quietly (for now) digesting and paperwork is more or less where it is supposed to be, so let the grand slothage begin!

Take care all.

Happy Hump Day!

It was a nice day today, N.O.S. and in the 50s.
Echo and Cerby went off to daycare, Ripple hung out with me.

My new downspout was installed today, finally.
Ripple is not a very good watch dog. We were upstairs and I could hear the irkers outside. Not a word from Ripple until I put him outside and he saw them.
Then he barked his fool head off.
I’ve always thought that somebody could break into the house and Ripple and Echo would sleep through it if they were upstairs.
Cerby won’t.
Now he barks at the people walking past the truck when I’m stopped at a red light. He’s a little too vigilant.

No more sightings of the green light car.
MetalMouth, I don’t think it’s the neighborhood. I attract weird.
It follows me wherever I go.

I’ve gotten two calls from companies wanting me to refinance my mortgage.
I told both of them, I am expecting an inheritance and will be paying off my mortgage.
The response I get
CONGRATULATIONS! THAT’S GREAT NEWS!
I guess they aren’t thinking.

I was thinking I’d make spaghetti aglio e olio for dinner, not having any idea what to make. But then I remembered there’s half a head of cabbage in the fridge. So I made cabbage soup with Lipton Onion Soup mix, about ¾ carton of chicken broth that was in the fridge, a cup of water a small, cut up, peeled potato, and sic cut up baby carrots. It turned out well. I think I’ll have another bowl. Wifey, RN just got home. She’ll have a bowl too.

I guess the spaghetti aglio e olio will have to wait for another day.

Just for the record, I never had braces… :grinning: :grinning: :grinning:

At least laughing didn’t hurt you like it did Hubs! He’s had a rough day, first I tried to absorb my daily dose of caffeine by osmosis, then GG was loooooking for VBC in the tunnel which gave VBC enough time to sneak up and smack him on the butt causing much bouncing and crashing. Then, my BFF, who is always well dressed, not a slob like me, told me that yesterday she was killing time by sitting in a park and playing with her smart phone and got asked if she was homeless. Sometimes a day full of laughter is not what the doctor ordered.

Awesome news! Are your pain levels dropping? Don’t overdo it, pay attention to your body and heal well and quickly!

Take it from me, it takes MUCH less coffee to wake up doing it my way!

What do your in-laws want to have done with their ashes? If all they want is to be burnt and gone, call your local Public Fiduciary and ask who they use for cremations. They are going to know which crematory is cheapest.

From what I understand, anyone who has had the plague KNOWS how it feels if it happens again. I hope you get over your crud soon.

Wow, I’m sorry that happened to you. You are like the 4th person I’ve heard of who got knocked over by the flu shot. Remember, it is a sign that your immune system is activating which is good.

Which means you have never slammed a boob in a car door. Trust me on this one, you didn’t miss a thing.

I normally wouldn’t share a time-waster link, but these are effin’ funny.

I had a bad day. I snapped at my coworkers.

Frankly, there was a moment where I thought :face_with_symbols_over_mouth: but I didn’t.

I sheepishly apologized to both of them, but still felt like hell for the night.

Nobody yelled at me; this is me yelling at myself.

I’m also dealing with an appliance issue (likely :money_mouth_face:) plus if my :face_with_symbols_over_mouth: mother doesn’t stop making her 40-mumble YO daughter feel like shit, I’m gonna … imma … ah, hell, I have no idea how to finish that sentence.

Eat some dinner, I suppose?

Have a Snickers.

I napped. I had cavatappi with chicken and sauce for dinner. I had a Negroni for cocktail hour, tried it with Hendrick’s gin. Good call.

.You brought home my ex-girlfriend?
Seriously, feel better.

Me: < wakes up, goes to bathroom, looks in sink >
Fred: < waves >
Me “AGAIN?” < flick Fred to safety >

Glad you made a friend.

YAY!

If it’s anything like nailing your nuts with the car door, you have my sympathies.

{{{{shoe}}}}

Son-in-law just left. I ordered delivery from Panera. We had a good talk and a nice time.

shoe, so you yelled. It only proves you’re Italian human. I hope tomorrow isn’t crappy. I also hope your mother backs off to, say, Fiji.

kitap, so glad you got a good report! So when will you be done with chemo?

Fred takes a flicking and keeps on sticking.

I take it this is not how the term “numb nuts” originated.
