This Is The MMP

I’ve had some thoughts, go check them out and tell me what you think.

Yes, we’ve been living together for … seven and a half years, now. She has always kind of sucked at cleaning or helping out around the house in any way, but in the last few years I’ve just started taking more and more onto myself because it was easier than asking her to do it … then reminding her to do it … then nagging her to do it … and then doing it mydamnself anyway.

Damn, that sounds just like having kids…

We’ve got a lovely marine layer over this morning, but it’ll burn off soon.

No plans today other than tidying the house, visiting my MiL, and coming back home. We can’t really go anywhere because one of my dogs just hates, hates, hates fireworks. So, we stay home and hang out with the dogs.

My son should be coming back from his trip to Pullman to move his belongings from his old apartment to his new apartment. Hopefully, he gets an early start so he can get some rest before heading to work tomorrow. I don’t know what my daughter and her fiance have planned. If it’s like years past; they’ll head to Seattle to enjoy the day.

That’s all I’ve got from this little pocket of the Northwest.

Added lieu’s BBQ thread to the blog, along with a non-smoked version for those of us who are less inclined to spend time with the smoker/grill. It’s a recipe for ribs made in the slow cooker and finished in the oven.

Can’t remember if I sent hugs to Taters. Sorry about your MIL. :frowning:

Congrats and best wishes to Irish Coffee.

FCM, I’ve found that for everything other than extending a contract, it’s easiest to just go to the AT&T store. Ironic for a company that is allegedly in the communications business, no? I find their website is clearly tilted toward taking your money, rather than letting you get your business done.

chizzuk, you don’t regularly do business with random people who pull up next to you at red lights? Whyever not? ::angelic smiley::

It’s been rainy here, but was nice enough yesterday that there wasn’t an issue with fireworks. We watched, as usual, from afar. They were pretty.

Have been taking lots of pics, especially of daylilies this year. I have some really pretty ones. Am going to edit and post some in a bit. Also, I have some wild milkweed that has been spectacular this year with plain-old daylilies mixed in. Lots and lots of bees and bugs and lovely scent.

Off to play with pics.

Hugs.

GT

That looks delish, gt. The easiest and most tender ribs I ever made were right in the oven.

Happy 4th all. Woke up at 5 thinking about 'Que so I pulled the rubbed brisket out to warm up and lit the smoker by flashlight at 5:30 and started smoking by 6:15. Just me and Pandora watching the sun come up. Ribs went on too so we’re prepped for eats later.

Nice to hear so many are getting rain. Bone dry and hot here but at least after 10 hours they got the first part of the AC work done yesterday.

If last night’s fireworks were an indication of what coming… uh oh. They loosened restrictions, the economy’s better, stores are everywhere. it’s gonna be LOUD.

Will patiently await lily pics.

Rainy 4th. No fireworks for us

Happy Day All

Off to have fun in the sun

Cheers

Jim

Happy Fourth.

It’s alternately between hot and humid and cloudy and spitting.

Home just for a few to get cleaned up and back to feeding, scooping, and cleaning up accidents.
Every jerk and his asshole brother is on the road today. I swear the drunks were out at 8am, and between them and the people who have no clue where they are, where they are going and how to get there
it would be a lot safer to stay home.

I got a shin splint and I don’t know how, or at least I think that is what it is.

And always remember…

Be careful if you go forth on the fourth with a fifth or you may not go forth on the fifth!

I don’t know if the bicyclist this morning was tattooed or wearing argyle socks.

Oh this should be good, just waved goodby to the dear wife and child until Monday at some point.

No adult supervision, nothing pressing other than two MD appointments Friday and a Log due for school Monday.

To hell with hookers and blow, it’s gonna be cleaning, ripping CD’s and organizing for the next 5 days–if something drops below the wife’s line of sight, it has left the universe. The cast of all three CSI shows together could not lift a latent of hers off the vac.

And of course, in a blond moment, she left her Lovenox home. Offered to chase them down with a box, but she thinks she will be ok taking asprin every 6 hours or so. There are days I wonder how she had managed to survive.

There are days I wonder how I have managed to survive.

I need a nap but cleaning up was more important today and the hot water felt so good on my leg.

Now to get something to eat and back to irk irk irk!

Good Lord, man, do as I do when alone.
Sit around in your boxers, smoke cigars and be flatulent.

That means, “make a smell”, Swampy.

:dubious:

For the hell of it, I’m making potato chips today. No, Swampy, there will be no signs in my bedroom window saying “Lays - $1”
ETA: Flytrap, he can clean house in his underwear if he wants.

Its 90°+, w/65% humidity. What should I wear? Definitely not a dark cotton shirt with a large decal? [Del]No way.[/Del] Yup!

. (See second picture)

Could be Team Garmin socks

Irked, drowned on the way home, am tired, gonna crochet. I was going to celebrate the Fourth with some Bojangles (pronounced “bo-hahngles” if you’re classy which I am), but it’s way too rainy and there are far too many sirens outside for my taste right now. So I shall raid the fridge.

I always said those guys were wusses.

Spend more money on bicycle costumes than I spend on aquariums.

We ran some errands, brought in the laundry, and futzed around. I need to thaw something for supper. I think we’re vegging for the rest of the day.

I don’t know if I’m still going to grill pork chops or not.
Mrs. Plant’s (v.3.0) first two favorite restaurants were closed on Fourth of July Eve, and her third, suggested be me, fool that I am, Crazy Larry’s Pizza did not have their buffet and a meat lovers pizza made her ill.

I’d planned pork chops, garlic mashed potatoes, black eyed peas and grilled corn.

Buddy the ferret was trapped in a laundry basket for a while.

Happy 4th July people what celebrate it!
(Them what don’t- still have a happy day if at all possible)

So, I’m now officially trained in how to chuck people out of bars properly- so long as said people have recieved training on how to be chucked out properly, I should be fine.

I have to go in tomorrow to finish off forms 'n stuff, but then I’m done, and, so long as I didn’t mess up too many questions on the exam (which I hopefully didn’t, but some of them were written pretty ambiguously), I can sit and wait for my shiny new certificate and license to show. Once I’ve coughed up the cash, of course.

Just racked out the elderflower champagnee- rather tasty, considering how easy it was. No idea how alcoholic it is- but I have 2 gallons, so that’s probably enough.
