Tiger Woods injured

So what’s the over/under on how many women come out as having had affairs with Tiger? 3.5? I suppose Rachel Uchitel doesn’t count yet, since she’s still denying it?

But Tiger is trading on his persona via his endorsements. So his behavior is a public matter. It’s a high stakes game, and not everyone is up to the challenge. Nobody said, “Tiger, you must make money based on your persona and your image.” You automatically put your image up for scrutiny the minute you accept a check from TAG Heuer, Buick, whomever.

He showed an incredible lack of discipline and common sense. Seriously, you’re leaving voicemails on your hoochie’s phone? Banging the “Tool Academy” chick?

Having said all of that, I don’t think there is much damage to the Tiger brand long-term. He’s that good. He can forget any “Sportsman of the Year” awards for the next few years, though, as well as any “family friendly” endorsements for a bit.

Would you really expect anyone to admit such a thing until forced to?

Tiger haters will just have more ammunition, but they already don’t like the guy, so this won’t change anything.l

Sounds it. Although–and speaking as someone whose wife watches way too many episodes of Snapped–usually the correct tools for the job are not made by Ping or Taylor Made but by Glock or Smith and Wesson.

SI’s “Hot Clicks” had this interesting Vegas betting line today:

Wish I’d bet the farm on “Yes”.

Michael Jordan was a big cheater and he still has plenty of endorsements. (he’s divorced now) I don’t think Woods endorses stuff for kids except Nike golf equipment and not many kids play golf unless they are well off. I admit I don’t know all his endorsements so there may be a kid related one.

Isn’t he on Wheaties boxes? They dropped Phelps because he smoked some sticky green, right? Buncha mormons.

He’s been on Wheaties but I don’t know if that was a 1 time deal or long term.

Saw a comment in the sports section this AM that kinda made sense to me. Said by chosing to market himself in a way that makes it hard to turn on a TV without seeing him shilling one product or another, he’s given up some amount of privacy. Sorta saying he “invaded” our homes, so we get to play turnabout. Personally, I still don’t really care. But you know it is possile for successful people to lead quite private lives - altho it may require that they forego some lucrative endorsements.

With respect to Tiger’s persona, I’m a little surprised folk think this is “out of character” for him. Mainly because what has he shown us abut his persona off the course? The guy is intensely private. It seems he has always been pretty careful to make no claims about his personal life, and trades nearly exclusively on his competitiveness and demand for perfection as a golfer. Even in his limited portrayal it is obvious that he is less than perfect. Little things, and perhaps understandable given the scrutiny aimed at him, but there is no question that he curses quite a bit, appears to have a bit of a temper, and conducts himself somewhat imperiously.

To the extent folk have chosen to imagine him a perfect human being/spouse/father, that is largely their doing, not his.

(I can’t believe we have a somewhat golf-related thread almost to 6 pages around here!)

No my neighbors have left me christmas cards without postage in my mailbox and nothing has happened to them.
As to Woods, again, this is his business.

Sure. He’s a healthy guy, rich and handsome too, who’s away from home quite a lot. It would be surprising if he turned down *every *offer.

thedivot.com Tiger endorsements . Add in Accenture, Tag Heuer,Gilette, Gatorade, Gebneral Mills, American Express, etc.

Real Bonnie & Clyde stuff.

FHP has released the accident report.

Look at the map, there were THREE collisions. And the tree was on the left side of the road, and the Escalade was damaged on the right side of the car.

By the looks of the map, how can anyone not suspect DUI?

He caused $200 in damage to a tree? I’m sure you can just take the tree down to the shop and it will buff out.

Is it too early to acknowledge the apple for falling so near the tree?

Recall that that Earl - that paragon of paternal virtue - was shacking up with Tida before he bothered to get divorced from wife #1. :stuck_out_tongue:

So, he was diddling around with this chick for almost 3 years and it only gets out now? I’m stunned. How could he keep it secret that long???

I like Ron Owen’s comment, quoting JR Ewing: Someone always knows, and someone always tells.

What I REALLY want to know about is his choice of reading material.

At TMZ there are a couple of images of a book in the Caddy’s backseat. The close-up seems to contain the word “Physics” as part of the title.

This guy’s a true Renaissance man!

Gillette are represented by Thierry Henry, Tiger Woods and Roger Federer.

Thierry Henry shagged other women and got divorced
Tiger Woods shagged other women and might get divorced
Roger Federer… well if I were Mrs Federer I’d be checking his txt messages right about now

I’m always surprised by elite athlete wives who expect their husbands to be 100% faithful, in spite of every indication that it is really unlikely. Why wouldn’t you go into a marriage with an elite athlete expecting that he would give you fame and fortune, but not fidelity?

Henry was in trouble for handling the ball a couple weeks ago.
Tiger…yeah.
