Tiger Woods Christmas poem from the Imus show…its pretty damn funny!

This report says he is still banging one of the women

Tiger Woods, Rachel Uchitel HAVING SEX? Alleged Mistress, Woods Reportedly Together STILL | HuffPost Sports

If true I guess he is getting divorced

Well, after all that he’s been through, he’s going to need some comforting.

Saw something the other day that his boat set sail for the Bahamas. (After loading up on supplies at Costco’s! I guess even rich folk might as well save a buck, but for some reason that amused me.)

Would be interested in learning the passenger list, maybe the F:M ratio.

I don’t know exactly what you are upposed to do if you are interested in saving your marriage. Perhaps you don’t need to cloister yourself. But weighing anchor on the Love Boat while your wife and kids are a continent away may not be the best approach.

Reports are that she is 100% committed to the divorce, so it seems there is nothing to save.

Well good for her. I’ve heard as much myself. But nothing is final until the divorce is, and I have not even heard of papers being filed yet.

Meanwhile, Tiger’s last public statement said something about lying low to protect his family or somesuch. If his marriage is kaput, then there’s nothing keeping him from the Links. Maybe the Love Boat is cruising to Hawaii for the season opener?

Sure, he owes the press and the public nothing - tho he certainly benefits HUGELY from how he interacts with both. If his current actions are not to save his marriage, then he is flat out lying about his reasons for not playing. Not something I would think desireable in a role-model/spokesman. Why should we believe ANYTHING he says in the future about why he does or does not play in any particular tournament? But I’ve made no secret of the fact that I have never been a fan.

He doesn’t play that many events anyway, some of the tourneys he plays are overseas where he gets paid big bucks just to show up.

The same ABC story that reports her commitment to divorce says she is going to take her own sweet time so that all the dirty laundry can come out. This is all attributed to a “close personal friend” of course, so none of it is *known *to be true.

I agree. Unless his face is still healing.

To be fair, he made those statements before this latest news came out. And he wouldn’t be playing golf now even if there had been no affairs, so his “indefinite leave” is technically not in effect yet.

Wow! What stamina!

PGA tour starts in 2 weeks , I think he normally plays at one of the early tourneys, maybe the Bob Hope classic which is in late Jan. The tourney after the Hope classic is at Torrey Pines which is one of his favorite courses. Match play championship is in mid-Feb and that’s a big tourney so he might come back for that if he does not take a long time off.

If the marriage is unsalvagable, then there is no tangible reason why Tiger needs to be on “hiatus”.

There’s embarassment, but if he will face that whenever he plays next.
There’s cowardice, ditto.

Yes, that’s right. But since most PGA golfers are on “hiatus” now, exactly what do you want him to do? Make an announcement saying that he would be playing golf if only there were some golf to play?

He takes this time of year off every year. The “hiatus” would not have kicked in until late January or early February, which is when he usually returns to the Tour.

Tiger has never played the Bob Hope. He has played the Tournament of Champions (1st tournament) before, but not in about 6 or 7 years.

Torrey Pines would normally be his PGATour debut for the the year. I think the first time he plays will be in Dubai on the Euro Tour. He has some business interests over there. It’s the same week of the SuperBowl, away from most of the US Press. However, there will be a lot of Euro Press in Dubai.

If he plays anywhere in the world the US press will be all over him. Not every one covers the Super Bowl. Not only will the sports press be there, but also People, Enquirer, US, TMZ, and so on. He may think he can dodge the press over there but it won’t work. If he does interviews I’m sure he will limit questions to just golf - or at least try to.

I know that he can’t dodge the press completely, but if anything, it will be minimized in Dubai, on SuperBowl Weekend.

Assuming he plays again, he has got to first appear somewhere. And in Dubai, on superbowl weekend would be his best bet.

It certainly would not be at the Bob Hope in Palm Springs, California, with a lot of celebrities who have their own paparazzi.

From his website:

After much soul searching, I have decided to take an indefinite break from professional golf. I need to focus my attention on being a better husband, father, and person.

I cannot recall Tiger - or any other golfer - issuing a statement that they were taking “an indefinite break from professional golf” between the last tourney they play in one season and the first they play in the next.

He chose to issue this precise statement - with considerable high-priced advice I’m sure. And he has long very closely controlled the flow of information. In such a situation, I think it entirely appropriate for interested persons to parse and interpret what little he discloses.

Nobody said that’s what he meant.

Yes, but when he issued that statement, his wife had not declared the marriage irrevocably damaged. I’m sure when he said it he meant it. But if his marriage is over, then the leave of absence would seem to be moot. However, there is no reason to expect him to issue any further statements just to keep us updated on his family situation. And if he does choose to play, there is no reason to take him to task for it. It will simply mean that for whatever reason, either the marriage being saved or whatever, he has decided that the “time to focus” is over.

At least no credible source! :stuck_out_tongue:

Or are you saying that he was making an anticipatory announcement of a future hiatus - which would only take effect at some time a month from when it was announced, when he failed to play the first tournament he had committed to (or perhaps had already accepted a fat check to appear in)?

Are you this credulous of every self-serving statement issued by a public figure?

I’ll have to check out his first couple of statements. I’m not sure that he flat out denied any affairs, but I do seem to remember some self-righteous indignation at the unwarranted intrusion into his private life.

If there is anything Tiger does (nearly) as well as golf, it is heading a well-polished PR effort. I would expect to wait an awfully long time before hearing an unscripted honest expression of emotion from the guy - at least in any situation where he was given some time to decide how to massage the message.

Good one!

No. I was just responding to what I perceived to be a criticism of Tiger for continuing the “hiatus,” when technically it had had not even started yet. That’s all. How can he stop doing something (not playing golf) when for him at least there is no golf to play?

If I believe one guy do I have to believe everybody?

I don’t think that lying about the affairs is in and of itself a reason to assume he is lying about being sorry for them, and wanting to make amends. If that were the case, no apologies would ever mean anything. At the very least, no apologies for dishonesty would.

I agree with that.
