Check that: appointment is tomorrow. I’m on spring break. Days are hard.
Good morning! My alarm didn’t go off this morning, so we got up late when Mrs Magill’s Emergency Back-up Alarm went off at 6:00. As she works East Coast Hours, she hopped in the shower while Chloé and I had an abbreviated walk. It was a wee bit warmer this morning, so I got to wear the cute jacket she’d gotten me last week. It’s one of those silly things that quiets the GD down.
I have been in a good mood for the last week. I think it’s from saying my name aloud to my counsellor last week, her changing my name in my profile, and you all calling me Mollie. I think I’m coming to terms with my situation. It’s been literally years since I’ve not felt The Weight for such a long time. Now, being a master of self sabotage, I am getting anxious for the next shoe to drop.
Seriously, thank you all so much for your support.
nellie I’m glad your daughter is doing well. It sounds like you helped her get out of a shit situation. I am reminded how my father helped me get out of my first marriage.
Roll for sanity.
Back in January, FCD and I did an on-line Defensive Driving course to reduce our insurance. Just yesterday, it occurred to me that our rates haven’t gone down. Luckily, I was able to figure out where we did the course and we both downloaded the certificates. This morning I did a chat, then a phone call with GEICO and finally got the certificates sent to them. And it didn’t take long before they adjusted our policy - $30 less per month! The first month covers just about all of the cost of the course, and the savings are good for 3 years. This is a geezer thing and I don’t know if other companies offer it, but it might be worth looking into.
This concludes my MMP Public Service Announcement.
Just wait until you’re retired! ![]()
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. I may bake a batch of muffins this morning. Other than that, RDOS for the win.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
56f right now which is the high for the day. Dense fog advisory until 11am but it’s already clearing. Going to the sto’ in a bit. Later I have a lesson and Ariel gets her monthly body work.
Good morning.
It’s 32F and partly sunny at the moment. By afternoon, it’ll be cloudy, and the expected daytime high is 44F. The weather had a difficult time deciding yesterday. We had wind, snow, hail, sleet, and sun. This cycle repeated multiple times.
Nellie, I’m so pleased to see you post again! I’m happy to read your daughter is with you and has such wonderful support. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for the position in Spokane, and hope you see good results from your back surgery very soon
Red, those cards are great!
Metal Mouse, I hope this is the final time you need leaks fixed.
Flyboy, sending best wishes for good outcomes to the interviews and training.
We finally have a date for Mr. Tater’s cataract surgery. I called them yesterday morning because we still hadn’t heard anything other than that they were looking at the July calendar availability when it opened. As it turns out, there was a cancellation, and we now have a surgery date on 2 April. I’m so excited to get this behind him, and he is too. I’ve been reluctant to make any plans because we were waiting for a surgery date. My optometry appointment is late this afternoon, so I think we’ll just swing through a drive-through on the way home for dinner.
Alrighty, time to finish my coffee and get the day started. I slept in just a bit, so Mr. Taters got up to make the pups’ breakfast. However, by 6:30 or so, I’d had enough. I was hot, and I was tossing and turning anyway.
Please take care of yourselves.
I just raked and dumped 6 carts of wet and dry leaves - that’s one entire garden bed and most of another. I’m having a lunch break before heading to the marina - we’re taking the boat to get 100 gallons of diesel before the prices get too stoopit. Then when we get home, I’ll probably rake a bit more. Or not. Who knows…?
It is a loverly day here - sunny, no wind, not too humid - a perfect day in my book! We’ll be back in the 50s and 60s starting Thursday, but today and tomorrow will be glorious!
I’m doing an experiment - leaving Otis home with the patio door partly open and curtain drawn against the possible invasion of bugs. I don’t want to crate him or leave him locked in the house - we’ll see how it goes. We couldn’t have done this when we had Taz, but Ziva has zero interest in the outside world, that is, mostly outside of the bedroom. Wuss.
OK, gonna finish my orange, load the cushions in my car, and head down the road and over the river. TTFN!
I was on 200 Top Red today, the one car had the Cititrends bulk load, a beauty shop bulk load, and irregs. And one of the other ones had 6 50lbs office chairs. But I survived. I had a lefover slice of meatloaf, so I had a meatloaf, egg, and cheddar sandwich for breakfast. Now it’s naptime.
Like someone pronouncing a Latin sentence wrong, and summoning a demon?
The Titanic has fewer leaks than your crib.
2!
Cool!
Yay!
Conflicting weather forecasts in the MSP area. Some say rain showers, some say 2" snow, some say cloudy. None of it affects us, but it must be confusing for commuters.
The wife had a scratchy throat this morning, but I think it’s from snoring at night. Fried egg sandwiches fix everything that ails ya!
I’m determined to wash the car today, but my enthusiasm has been known to wane in the past. . .
A few days ago I was driving on the freeway in our new(ish) CRV, and the driver in front of me kicked up a pipe or a rod which flew through the air and gouged a dent in my passenger door. I drove it home, cursing, and Mr. brown called a mobile dent repair guy. That guy was a pro and did a good job, but it cost more than a few bucks. And there are still a couple of teeny paint chips that Mr. brown wants to fill in himself.
A pox upon people who don’t secure their loads and drop tools, parts, nails, and screws on the roadway.
Still waiting for my dahlia tubers to come, but they should arrive today, after sitting inexplicably at a distant post office for two or three days.
today started a bit better than yest. i just made the shuttle by one minute. i usually put my accessories in my pocket, then don them in the shuttle. for some reason i had 2 watches in my pocket. caught up with a neighbour on the ride in, his son is in his first year at juilliard.
well done, fairy chat mom! good savings there.
taters, good news on mr tater! i hope he does as well as i did with the surgery. my second surgery got moved up a week. so i had both eyes done in 2 weeks rather than 3. having both eyes done at once seems to be the way they are leaning now.
that is seriously scary, teelabrown. i’m glad it didn’t hit the windshield (screen).
Well, the leak detector has detected a leak, at least it doesn’t require a cabinet and countertop removal to get to, but some kitchen tiles will need to be replaced once repaired. Awaiting call back from the plumbing folks, but may ride out there and book an appointment, it’s not that far and I’ve been cooped up for awhile (and moreso tomorrow). Then maybe some gym time, might have soccer today but won’t know if the fields are open until 4pm or so, so will have to manage my time.
Pavo, hope the car is nice, the payments are reasonable, and the wife is doing well.
FCM, will have to look into that Defensive Driving training, don’t know if it’s offered around here but I’ll inquire.
You and me both!
Taters, glad you got the surgery scheduled earlier than expected, less time spent worrying about it…
FCM, may the Otis experiment work out as planned.
but not through the woods?
Cookie, if it’s going to rain, let Mother nature do the car washing.
Lucky, I guess it’s luck that you didn’t have more serious damage (for those wondering, teela brown is a character in Larry Niven’s “Ringworld” SF stories, supposedly bread by aliens to be the luckiest human being ever).
And best get moving or I’ll just continue to sit here. Take care all.
Yeah, well, it didn’t last long. Marine diesel was $4.09/gal yesterday. We just got 120 gallons at $4.99. They expect it to go up some more. Dammit. At least it should be plenty to get us thru the summer. I hope.
On line - I can give you the link to what I used, tho I can’t guarantee your insurance company will accept it, unless you’re with GEICO. And Otis didn’t destroy anything in the 2+ hours he was alone, so I count that as a win!
Anyway, home again. I should get back to raking. Maybe. It is pretty outside…
Just finished a doctor appointment for a clinical trial on Minoxidil (oral). I was poked and prodded and had pictures taken of my scalp. It’s definitely fuller than it was six months ago.
This conversation does not faze you at all.
Fried egg sandwiches fix everything that ails ya!
QFT.

Better the door than the windshield.

Oof. Here’s a question: Does that much diesel oil make the boat sit higher on the water or lower?
Does that much diesel oil make the boat sit higher on the water or lower?
It’s a bit over 840# so it should be sitting lower. The 400-ish in ballast lowered us a bit. Oddly enough, neither of us thought to look. The shock of $600 for fuel hasn’t yet settled in.
There was a much bigger boat there yesterday taking on about 1000 gallons (when it was only $4.29). FWIW, gasoline was also $4.99 - typically there’s not a very big difference between gas and diesel at marinas. And just FYI, Cigarette boats typically consume between 30 and over 200 gallons of fuel per hour (GPH) depending on size, engine, and speed. I guess if you can afford a toy like that, you don’t worry about fuel costs.
I seem to have misplaced my motivation…

That’s what I thought at first, but diesel oil is less dense than water, so I wasn’t sure if would make the boat sit slightly higher.
ETA - but it is much more dense than air, which is what it was displacing. Question withdrawn.

Nelson was ~5 years old when I stopped crating him when I went to irk. His crate was big enough to be his doggy cave, more or less. It had a bed, his blankie, space for small kibble / water dishes and his lovey.
I messed around in the studio some, had lunch and will take Nelson out shortly.
Hi! I’m new here and a little nervous. Y’all got space for one more?
It is election day* in Nawth Jawja (GA-14, MTG’s district) and the combination of hope and fear is agonizing. It is overcast out but neither cold nor rainy, hallelujah! Good weather means more voters. I like to give rides and get-out-the-vote, and got to do a couple trips for early voters. But today, the Big Day, I’m stuck at the house for reasons, to stew helplessly until the returns start rolling in.
So with all this energy, I’ve worked up the gumption to meet the Mumpers.
I’m a she, retired, single and not seeking. I live at 12 and Plumb (twelve miles from town and plumb in the middle of nowhere), with two housemates, a spoiled Lab, a vegetable garden and crow friends. I love the forest, Broadway musicals and cooking. I hate ticks and . . . ummm . . . rutabagas.
*My candidate is Shawn Harris.
Heat guys came drained the coil out. Still. No heat.
Hi! I’m new here and a little nervous. Y’all got space for one more?
No need to be nervous, we hid all the sharp utensils ages ago.
And always space in our sandbox for one more! Welcome!
I love your location description! Yep, you should fit in just fine. Be prepared to show pics of your Lab. Frankly, your little summary could almost be a guide for the Ultimate Mumper!
