Car acquired. A shiny new Honda HR-V. Splurged and got the one with all the fancy stuff like heated seats and all the sensors and stuff. Now we just have to do without food for a couple of years. I’m sure it will be fine
Welcome! I’ll scoot over, but there’s plenty of room, and I don’t bite. Well, not since The Incident.
The one bad thing about MTG bailing out is that it high lights just how awful my congress-critter is - Andy Fucking Ogles.
How YOU doin’?
Welcome to the forum where we just talk about random bullshit, usually starting with an exciting topic like the weather. Someone will attempt to assign you an MMP moniker that may or may not have anything to do with your username. It’s a clever plot to make your scroll through everything to see if someone has addressed you, as it won’t show up as a “hit” on your banner logo.
FCM, thank you! I’ll have to figure out the picture thing.
Mollie, I read what that dumbass posted yesterday! Ain’t it great to wince any time your rep makes the news?
Cookie, I see the method in the madness now, and changed this post to nicknames. (Actually that’s an excuse-- I gotta learn the formatting for multiple embedded names or quotes.)
You hate rutabagas, too?
Hi generation jones. Welcome aboard!
The only thing they’re good for is curling.
And welcome to our little corner of crazy.
I’m putting my prototype ping pong ball machine on the floor for a round of interaction with kids. I still have a few things to tweak about functionality and noise, but it should be ready, even will have some graphics to explain what is going on. Nose hairs and boogers and flying ping pong balls, what more could a 10 year old ask for?
Not only will they be nice and cozy in the winter, if you have back or hip issues, you may find yourself using them year round.
Agreed! (and that’s as political as I’ll get in the MMP)
Welcome aboard, Generation Jones. I’m sure that you’ll aquire a nickname sooner or later.
I made a set of cards this afternoon. They are a part of my effort to use up the stash that I don’t usually play with.
Fart sounds?
Seems the logical choice is Gennie!
Back from Cracker Barrel - that place was very very empty! I bet not a dozen diners. But it is a Tuesday night, so there’s that.
More yard work tomorrow. Chillage tonight. I need to find something else to stream as I finished with Lillie Langtry last night. Onward!!
Perhaps GenJ. Like GenZ.
Howdy Y’all! Just as I was pullin’ in the parkin’ lot of the pharmacy, I got a text sayin’ they were out of the med I needed and it would be there tomorrow mornin’. This ten minutes after they texted me to say the ‘script was ready. At three p.m. I got a text sayin’ the ‘script was ready for pickup.
I texted back to say I’ll pick it up Firday when I will be over that way to see the doc and vampire. Anywho I got the other errands done. The afternoon was devoted to nappage, day drinkin’ and general sloth. Then sup got fixed and et. Thus is the news from swampland.
Knotty and Pavo hope the predicted storms were not too nasty. I once spent the night in a hotel hallway in Iowa durin’ a tornado outbreak. Not fun! Fortunately, though they were all around us, there were no tornadoes in the town I was in. Can’t remember the name of the town, but I remember it was an irktrip wherein my luggage got lost and I had to go buy clothes at a
Wally*World.![]()
Pavo happy car huntin’. I see in a later post you have met with success. Conga Rats!
Mollie glad you got to wear your cute jacket. If we have contributed to your good mood, then, well, that’s a big part of what the MMP is about.
MOOOOOOM I will look into the DD course. Anything (well legal) for a discount I say.
Taters I describe weather like that as Mother Nature got drunk and staggered around the yahd weather. Hooray for finally gettin’ a surgery date. I am sure both of you are glad it’s a sooner than anticipated date.
doggio that sounds like a good sammich.
Lucky yikes! Glad whatever it was didn’t come through the windshield. I do my best to stay way behind stuff like that, but that doesn’t mean it won’t happen.
MetalMouse you have had way more than your share of home improvements and repairs lately. May this be the last leak. Hope the rest of the electrical work goes smoothly.
VanGo heck, nose hair, boogers and flyin’ ping pong balls would entertain me for hours.
Generation Jones welcome! I am in southwest Jawja, so that makes us like next door neighbors intartoobz wise. Hope the election results are what you want.
Up from naptime. I dreamed I was fighting in the Battle of Midway, while there was a cocktail party going on on the island. I’m watching hockey, having a Manhattan and chicken, rice, and bean burritos for dinner.
But does it ever wax? ![]()
The real bane of driving to Clemmons is all the auto transporters full of wrecked cars that shed bits as they drive.
Well, the character did end up staying on the safest place in the galaxy from the core explosion, with the burly cabana boy, so maybe it worked.
Maybe hoist the sails? ![]()
< joins cult >
Always!
You’ll fit right in.
Apart from Lenny the Squidgoat.
I do miss those.
@rocking_chair, @Paintcharge, @missred, @dogbutler, thank you for the welcome!
Waving @swampbear, hey neighbor!
No election miracle today. My candidate advances to the runoff, which he’ll lose, on 4/7. A lot could happen in a month, though. Onward!
Ok. Maintenance says because its warm out, no heat is coming out the vents. Something about the water temperature.
Must wait til it gets cooler out. Its 63 right now.
I was sitting out front for the bus and a neighbor asked if I had the new $3 taco bell bowl. I forgot about that.
Then we got on the bus and she gave me $3 for it! No, I did not hint for it.
Then later I am out front feeding Moley and a young neighbor comes in, reaches in his bag and gives me a mini bundt( Nothing Bundt sells them).
I’ve only ever said hi to him.
Wow.
That’s what I was thinking.
I made a set of note sized cards using some of my stash this evening.
Good evening and time for the late-night final. Plumbers will be here Thursday after the electricians do their thing on Wednesday, so this is my week for house-irk (and spending many $$$). Soccer was cancelled as the fields were still wet from yesterday’s downpour, my next session is scheduled for Thursday but there is a 75% chance of rain Wednesday night so it might get cancelled to. Took advantage to spend extra time at the gym since it may be a few days before I can get back there.
And 20 messages to peruse, so best be about perusing them…
FCM, will check it out on-line, I am with GEICO for my auto insurance, so that is not a problem. Glad Otis was a good dog.
Jonesy (at least until someone comes up with a good Mumper name) welcome to the MMP and…
That’ll do, Jonesy; that’ll do…
Pavo, conga-rats on the new wheels. Nice looking car. Am sure you won’t starve…much…
VanGo, Ah, the dreaded “will it pass…and survive…first contact with the kids”? Best wishes.
FCM, I like Gennie better than mine, will adopt it if others agree.
Cookie, I like GenJ too, decisions, decisions…
Coppertone, just about the time I finish reading the political screeds here in the SDMB and come over here a bit down, you help restore my faith in humanity. Thanks for that.
And it’s 9:30pm, I’m tired and will head off to bed soon as I catch up on the Champion’s League (soccer) highlights. Take care all.
Swampy - Honestly, I think the MMP is a big contributor. Being able to practice saying things to you all is a huge catharsis. Just being referred to as Mollie, while not lessening the noise of GD, has reduced the weight.
Thank you, everyone.
red - I try to remain apolitical in the MMP, but Andy Fucking Ogles just has that effect on me.
Grnnie or GenJ work for me.
Well, I decided not to quit the test scoring before it began. I mean, committed to doing it. My daughter pointed out that I committed to her dad, too, and I wisely escaped from that. I’d feel guilty, though. We’ll see how it goes. I’m not looking forward to it, but I shall endeavor not to gripe and whine (or grape and wine).
The back pain is a little worse. We didn’t walk today since yesterday’s two blocks were an exercise in masochism. We did, however, go to the grocery store. What a luxury to buy what you want without worrying about schlepping it home! My daughter made a beeline for the clearance rack. She and my mom used to sneak off to the clearance rack when I was doing the shopping and come back with a browning flower trembling in a little pot. “It’s only a quarter!” The next time I was out, it’d be the size of a laundry basket.
Anyway, she found a carton of sugar free ginger ale that was missing only one can and was 50% off. Such a deal!
She’s decided to leave Saturday.
I don’t want her to go, but one of her cats is either sick or pining away for her. Her STBX is caring for the kitties and will take him to the vet if he’s not better tomorrow. (This is the cat that’s a smaller version of JtC’s GG.) She has a Zoom therapy appointment Friday morning and asked me to attend.
She insists she’s going to do all the housework tomorrow while I’m scoring. I tried to argue, but she threw that “responsible adult” line at me again. Hmph.
I’ve been showing her the 1960s dances I learned from my older siblings: the swim, the jerk, the mashed potato, the skate, etc.. She thinks they’re hysterical, and of course, they are. It just adds credence to my theory that whatever your parents shake their heads over today, your kids will laugh at tomorrow.
MetalMouse, I’m so sorry you’re dealing with yet another leak. I thought most of your plumbing got replaced. I’m glad it’s getting fixed, but yikes.
There’s a thought! At least I don’t have to score essays in Greek and Latin! Of course, not knowing either language, I’d just give everyone A’s.
Is there anything you make that isn’t good? (That’s a rhetorical question.)
Holy chaos, Batman! I’d just park myself in the cellar for the day.
Isn’t it odd how we think that way? You’ve probably had an avalanche of shoes over the years. Why can’t this be the reward? I can’t begin to tell you how happy I am that you’re feeling so much better.
This made me teary-eyed. I’m glad your dad was there for you.
So did we! Mother Nature was having an identity crisis. Also, thank you for your very kind remarks. You’re such a sweet person! (Does that make you a sweet tater?) And yay for Mr. Tater getting an appointment!
Hear, hear. I’m glad you weren’t hurt, but what a hassle!
What? No pool table? No recliner? Poor Nelson has had to ruff it, I see.
Hiya, GenerationJones!
That’s what YOU think. ![]()
Congrats! Sounds spiffy! Do you name your cars?
And you weren’t invited? How rude.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s currently 63 degrees Ferret Height(17.222 Centipedes). Fool’s spring ends tomorrow.
Well, I was in the middle of it, but no one offered me a martini, and I only had one magazine for the BAR. How gauche.
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 8c/46f with a predicted high of 10c/50f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “Enjoy this fucking mild weather. Shitty weather is probably on the fucking way.”
Car shopping can be quite exciting too. And if your wife will need her car back, recovery must be going well ![]()
Mollie I’m glad to hear that you’re in such a good mood, things like that always make me happy!
That’s very good news, especially as he’s been adding “after the surgery” to all the plans you want to get in place. Now he’s got a date, you know when “after the surgery” will be.
That would be funny, and quite interesting. However, there’s much more likelihood of that happening when they’re teaching Ancient Egyptian!
It’s good that they’ve detected a leak, but really annoying that it’s not the first time. Have they come up with a reason why there are so many leaks?
Always room for one more! Welcome
Not much in the way of rules around here either, make sure you use a coaster for your drinks, and watch out for doggio as he’s a bit weird
I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed that your candidate wins! I’m always ahead or behind on everyone’s news as I’m on the other side of the pond ![]()
Sounds like absolute heaven at that age!
red love the cards, you’re so talented!
At this rate, I give them all an A for turning up in the right room at the right time.
Yesterday was an ok day for irk, didn’t get much done but the stuff I went to campus for got done. I picked up a gift for Troublesome Minion on the way home, wrapped it up and have brought it in for her today. I didn’t have much else to do last night so there was some slothing on the sofa while dinner was prepared for me.
Today’s my last day on campus this week as I’m working from home tomorrow and I’m away Friday-Monday. I’m off to the pub tonight with my friends so that will be fun, and it will be nice to have a bit of a lie-in tomorrow morning. Only two meetings today as one’s been moved to next week so I might actually get some work done!
Last night was our monthly Quilt Guild meeting. The speaker was fun and her presentation was about Art Quilts. Her work was amazing. I took my newly finished quilt in for Show and Tell. I got a lot of nice complements.
