Time Warp MMP

Up, caffeinated. Back to work tonight.

I thought we had settled this long ago.
The critters that turn in wheels to work the SDMB are not hamsters, the tiny creatures children keep as pets, but previously unknown creatures know as hampsters.
It is not known if they are magical or merely space aliens.
They enjoy mocking* all* of us.

Back from raidin’ Hoshi over to the church house. The other mowin’ crew is there this mornin’. One of ‘em thought I was comin’ to help. It is to laugh! My time is in two weeks and I’m lobbyin’ puttin’ that off until the Sattidy afterward bein’ as my next time is Labor Day weekend. That mean’s cee-mint pond partay time.

The hampsters are named Hamp and Hampette. They are from an unknown place cald Hampston.

No, ‘hampsters’ are people who weekend in the Hamptons. Make sure to wave at Rosie as you helicopter over her on your way out.
Went out early to meet a friend for an early bike ride, right at dawn. I put my sunglasses on for the first little bit only for eye protection as I rode down the big hill. Took them off & put them up in my helmet at the bottom as it was still too dark to need them. Started out on the trail going east, then doubled back to the west. Wasn’t until two hours after starting that I turned back to the east again & actually needed to put sunglasses over my eyes. It’s a boofit-Al sunny day. Now a shower, throw some clothes & sunscreen into a bag then maybe a little run on the beach & some playing in the waves. Haven’t done that since February.

Ah hah!

Happy Saturday!

It’s a nice cool sunny 72 degrees out. It got chilly last night, needed a blanket. Or I could have gotten up and turned the fan off.

Have a good trip BooFae

You too** FCM**

I need to find my blue tooth. It fell out, I know it’s in the house somewhere. I have a few calls I need to make.

Otherwise SSDD

So was this taken at your last family reunion?

Memo to body: why are we up this early? We’re on CLOSING shift tonight, working 1230 - 1930. We did not have to roll out of bed until about 1000, so WHY did we wake up around 0800, solidly awake for the day even before the Princess started the “time for breakfast” cuddle campaign? This is not entirely reasonable, especially when we didn’t get to bed until after 0200 (stupid laundry!).

62 out there right now, projected high 91. Yay for that transfer that has me working in air conditioning! Would be nice if the nerves calmed down. I can do this, I can do this, I can do this…

Off to work.

It’s quiet in here, … too quiet. :dubious:

Well, got home after refereeing 3, count 'em, 3 youth soccer games in 85F heat. I almost didn’t make it through the last one, had to drink 3 bottles of water and spent 7 minutes at halftime inside my car with the AC cranked to 11. But I made it.

Got home to find that my friend whom I mentioned earlier in the week has passed. His wife of 33 years and his family were with him. Given his cancer prognosis (he was given to Spring at the best) and how badly that often ends, perhaps this was a mercy.

Still hurts, though.

Seanette, I know your pain. I’ve been trying to tell my body for the past several weeks that I get up at 5AM, dammit, not 3AM…and my body continues to wake up 2 hours early.

FCM, if you haven’t left yet, enjoy your travels.

swampy, we know bears shit in the woods, but do they pee in the pool?

Going to take a nice bath and a couple of hours of nap-time. I think I’ve earned it today.

The good news is both bikes are working fine. The not so good news is that the porch project is only half done. Guess I get a fail at being a responsible adult.

Howdy Y’all! The good thing about havin’ an afternoon soiree is you get rid of folks around sixish. A good time was had by all. Cee-mint pond merriment ensued and then a really good, if’n I do say so myself, early din-din. Everyone is gone and OYKW and I are all cleanded up and in chill mode.

Actually, that pic was taken in 1963. Mom and Dad took all five of us on a nice summer vacation. There was a pool and lots and lots of pic-a-nic baskets. Good Times! Good Times!

Metal Mouse I tell folks that if you even look to me like you’re peein’ in the pool, I will personally put a diaper on you. One may go in da cave to pee, go around the other side of the storage buildin’ which is a very private area, or do the ol’ hosepipe down the bathin’ suit whilst standin’ in da yahd. Just show some class! Sorry about your friend. He, his family, and you are in my thoughts and prayers.

My condolences, Stainless.

We had a veritable toad strangler an hour ago. It’s still raining but much less vigorously. Good night to stay in and listen to 80s music.

does so

Hugs and prayers you way Metal Mouse

It’s been a boring day.
Irk was slow, I wish it would pick up.

I was supposed to rsvp today but I sent my friend an text saying I didn’t know what to say. The rash on my hands is clearing up but there are a few red crusty spots left. The skin on my feet is peeling but I found the cream the hospital gave me for that. Now I have a rash on my belly.
I’m just falling apart over here.

So the store I was told I was to work at didn’t have me scheduled. I drove 15 extra miles for no reason. I ended up working in da Hood. I’m off tomorrow. Or not. My monkeys are running my circus.

Feel better, sari.

Well, managers thought I did fine as a newbie lead. Most of my cashiers agreed. We do have one exception. Here’s what I said about him over in the workplace griping thread:

"OK, jerk, you are NOT a lead. I, on the other hand, AM! That means you do NOT snap orders at me, you do NOT ignore instructions (I do tend to phrase such things courteously, but that does not make doing what you know you’re supposed to be doing anyway optional!), and you ABSOLUTELY DO NOT make patronizing remarks to me post-shift about “good job trying to be a lead”. I will be chatting with our supervisor about your attitude toward me and toward other cashiers, as well as your crappy customer service. Since when is it acceptable behavior for a cashier who is not otherwise busy to redirect customers to another cashier rather than serving them himself?

Just because I try to be as nice as reasonably possible does not make me a pushover. I have more work experience, including at this employer, and more life experience than you (I’m old enough to be your mother, you know). I HAVE the authority and I will use it to adjust your 'tude. Got it?"

The kid is not gonna win this fight. I have all the high cards, and more experience than he does at playing them.
