Update: I was linked to this thread by the poster above. What insults…?
I’ve used this handle for at least ten years. I’m guessing it’s you who create the fake sock after me? Nice try. No dice.

Fuck off, troll.
Right sure; sock. By the way, nice job getting the age wrong and finding a picture of someone with different colored hair.
Just sayin’
Nothing sez ‘noob’ more than a 3 week poster jumping into the Pit & debating the rules with the thoroughness of knowledge God granted to but just a few mods.
I gather that the replies above were prompted by the troll at issue? I have it on ignore, so I can only assume it’s making an ass of itself.
Hmm, I wonder how long a rogue mod could trock before being caught by the others.
Perhaps no one has yet brought it to the attention of a moderator? Did you report it?
Can someone please squash Jayquellen and then flush them?
Haha! I only linked his current thread to his old, nearly identical thread. There were no links to this Troll thread. Funny about that.
Does he think we can go back in time to 2014 and create a sock account to trap him in 2020? Wait, can we? That’d be cool.
Only if you get discobot on your side. He and I are ||.
A lot of users created socks when we switched software. We made announcements specifically telling folks not to do that, but they did it anyway. We made announcements telling people to contact me to sort out whatever issue they were having with their original account, many did not. At some point you get tired of trying to herd cats. If we banned everyone that was using a sock due to the software switch we’d lose a lot of good users.
Repeatedly posting on one particular creepy topic is a separate issue.
I suppose the critical issue ref the software turnover is that if a single individual live human used to use, e.g. CoolUserName on vBulletin and now uses OtherUserName on Discourse that’s fine (enough) as long as they’re not using both user IDs on Discourse today.
Functionally its not a sock and more a backdoor name change as long as the old username is locked out for lack of a known password and the old username was not banned at the time of transition.
To the degree TPTB can identify these cases and perhaps make an entry in at least the old userid’s profile something like “CoolUserName is now known as OtherUserName” that would make the transition documented to the public in a way that the end user couldn’t undo or obscure.
Some of these, like the old Wookinpanub and the new/current @WOOKINPANUBv.2 are pretty darn obvious. Likewise urbanredneck and @urbanredneck2.
Bottom line: socking as live alter ego should be instaban. And AIUI is. These other cases are effectively harmless error (even if deliberate error), provided the user can’t log in to their old vBulletin username.
I can think of better things to do in 2014 than creating a sock account for a troll that won’t show up for 6 years.
Eh, I think we’d also be fine banning the dumbshits too stupid to figure out how to make the transition.
Hear, hear.
But if the purge ever happens, please note I’ve been 2.0 since the start because apparently there was already an “asl” on the board (even though they haven’t posted since 1999 or something).
I understand that merging is an admin level thing. And I also note that @What_Exit is asking @codehorror for some admin-level features. So is it possible that you guys might be working on having an active administrator account again?
So many things people bring up to fix are things that are already available as an admin, and having someone like you who knows computers, would be smart enough not to let the passwords leak (e.g. using the account on only one computer that is kept secure, using a secure password, and so on), and could be trusted only do to things based on mod/user consensus would be useful for maintaining the board.
Since there is no other place to say it, I’ll say it here – did not see SlackerInc’s demise coming.
I didn’t see why it took 17 years
Neither did I. He was about to go on my Ignore list so I suppose it makes no difference.
