FWIW, I have no opinion on Bloody_Jesus’ recently closed thread (because I couldn’t read the OP, and had no interest in going though the mouse strokes to change that and then change it back) other than I suspect bad faith as I am convinced he is a concern troll. I mean, on its face I, sympathetic to the topic, I just don’t think he is.

ETA - FTR, I don’t hate BigT, but they have a certain tendency to go ‘look at me, look at me’ and ‘help help I’m being oppressed’ that makes me skim their posts more often than not.

I think he has had an easier time of it more recently not through any change in behavior, but because the use of “retard” is now more strongly deprecated, eliminating the standard imprecation “Shut up, Big [ ]”.
I think this happened right around when I found the board. I remember the “My post is my cite” guy Aldebaran for the same reason.

I’m sorry you’re having a bad time this weekend. It’s obviously not my intent to make your life worse. But I can’t at all agree your response here is fair at all.
I should be able to criticize your moderation, as long as I avoid personal attacks. That’s what ATMB is for. And there is nothing remotely wrong with a longer post. I write them that way because (1) the topics on this board tend to require nuance; (2) people very often seem to misunderstand me if I don’t lay out my entire argument from front to back and (3) because I know that short, terse posts tend to be seen as more insulting than longer posts that try to be more detached.
I don’t think I’m “making your job harder” when I just expect you to take one extra sentence to explain yourself. And I don’t think it’s wrong to point out that the way you do write can come off badly.
And I do think it is fair to point out that you treat posters who you think are trolling or otherwise differently than you do other posters. I do think your feelings often change how you moderate. When you seem to respect a poster, you do seem to explain. When you don’t, you don’t. It’s not even like you explained what the hell is wrong with my post. Rather than point out why I was wrong, you attacked me.
And I don’t think that’s fair. If I as a poster can’t rant about the way a moderator mods, then how is it fair for a mod to be able to attack posters for their responses to moderation?
Look, I’m sorry I made your weekend worse. My life isn’t great either. I have medical issues that I don’t bring up here. I’m having to go to a neurologist soon. And possibly a GI doctor. And I seem to remember you’ve had a death of someone close to you recently, and I very much empathize with that.
But I can’t see anything I actually did was any different than other posters will respond when they disagree with moderation. And I don’t see a way to bring up these issues that I believe are legitimate without you getting mad. And it would be wrong for me to keep silent when I see a moderation that I think was poorly done.
And I do take objection to you not allowing a poster to try and figure out how to mitigate something as horrible as the overturn of Roe v. Wade. And I would say Roe is far more important than anything else mentioned here.
But it seems that people mostly get annoyed by me saying things they don’t like. It doesn’t usually seem they have any moral issue with what I said, yet they get as mad as I do at bigotry or the like. That is what I never get.

I generally dislike reading BigT’s posts because they are inane and often long and pointless, but I don’t see any evidence he is trolling. Being an annoying person isn’t the same thing as being a troll–one can be annoying as a simple personality trait, trolling implies a deliberate action.
