Maybe. I think Mitch’s approach has been a ‘wait and see’ strategy from the start. He’s very careful not to get cross with Trump’s base - because it’s his base, too.
I go back to the psychology of authoritarians who want to dismantle democratic systems. They govern by both explicit and implied consent, which is why they almost always tell you what they’re going to do in advance. Trump is telling us now what he intends to do: he intends to reject the will of the majority. He does not intend to cooperate with the incoming government if he loses power, which itself is something he will resist until being forced from the White House.
We’re in for a shit storm these next few months, and only these next few months if we’re fortunate.
If this were a football game, Trump would blow up the plan of the other team owners, spend wildly on a few big-name free agents, reschedule all games in autumn, then sue the NFL and win $3.
That was brutal. And hilarious. In an Armageddon- Götterdämmerung kind of way.
What movie is that from? I guess German speakers find it odd to watch with the English captions. I wanted the room to blow up at the end, but that’s just me, I guess.
Downfall is definitely worth watching if you’ve never seen it. It’s about Hitler’s last days in the bunker at the end of World War 2.
The meme is so popular that many people have never seen the scene with the true subtitles. So, here it is in case you’re wondering what was actually being said.
Thanks. I’m generally reticent to compare Trump to Hitler, but there’s certainly something recognizable in his obsession with loyalty and blaming everyone else for his failures.
The scary thing is, it’s not hard to imagine the actual subtitles being very close to things trump has probably ranted and raved about in meetings with his inner circle.
