US Capitol under siege

Oh, Graham suffered some serious burns today.

This is the country you helped build, Lindsey. Hope you’re enjoying it.

For a moment, during that video, I swear I came [this close] to feeling sorry for ol’ Lindsey.

It was actually just a trapped fart.

I suspect the vast majority of the Y’all Qaeda types that we’r’e seeing will soon find another target for their perpetual outrage, but … until they do … they’re not the cohort I’d want tailing my family or me.

I was a bit shocked my areas Vanilla ISIS members didn’t show up in DC. Folks like Matt Shea and Ammon Bundy have definitely declared their Yeehad.

I had an encounter with 3 of them the night of the fifth. Details on request but the tldr version is that they made the dumbest Trumper on this board look like John Locke.

Well, fucking share, Jaysus! Request. Request, already!

Ok, I’ve got a gingerbread cookie and scotch, ready for the NOT TL story…

Request, request, request. I’m going to go locate a candy bar. BRB.

He’s typing. Peer pressure worked again.

But Ammon Bundy doesn’t like Trump. He wasn’t happy about Trump’s jackbooted Federal thugs in Portland, Bundy attended a BLM rally believe it or not. Bundy himself appears to be pretty consistent federal government hater, rather than a white supremacist. Of course, that aspect of his beliefs doesn’t endear him to most in that demographic.

I laughed.

I went to a bar where my friend was working. (Me and the one other customer were outside, wearing masks, distanced) Three people, one man two women, in their early 60s by my guess. They were wearing flag capes, trump hats, etc. My friend got them a table next to a heat lamp and explained there wasn’t indoor service due to Covid. They grumbled, but sat down and looked at the menu. It’s mostly a Greek joint, but there is a very mediocre burger. They complained about the lack of American food and went to the pizzeria next door. The male came out and started talking to my friend.

“You know back in the early nineteen hunnerds when all them rats were spreading the plague? Well, you know you congress passed a law saying that the federal government couldn’t shut down the country for more than 14 days. It’s in your constitution!” My buddy smiled and nodded. It didn’t hurt that he’s a big pale bald dude, ex-military and wearing a DCFD cap.

Then the male went back into the pizzaria, emerged with a large pizza and some snacks, looked at my friend and went “See! American food!” They went off into the night.

I will not transcribe their accents. To give them their due, when they realized the wouldn’t be staying after using the bathroom, they gave my friend a few bucks.

ETA; It was a real you had to be there moment, but I hope you get the gist.

Thanks! Well told. Now go out and find some more stories for us.

The triumphant flourishing of a take-out pizza as more authentically “American food” than what you could get in the Greek-menu burger bar is the best part, to my mind.

Yes, yes it was. I was about to make a “Well, actually” but thought better of it.

Video footage up to and including the shooting of Ashli Babbitt in the U.S. Capitol…
(Note: it includes the actual shooting)

Heh, while we’re “Well, actually”-ing, I found out some interesting (and sadly familiar-sounding) actual information about the early 20th-c. US plague outbreak:

Unsurprisingly, I can find zero evidence for any constitutional provision or other legislation from those years limiting the duration of federal government epidemic emergency measures to “14 days”.

Ok, I think he was conflating that with the Spanish Flu, though. Good to know, I thought he thought the bubonic plague was in the 20th century.

Yeah. Tell us another! Some of us are stuck at home alone with only our well-behaved pets for company.

Fucking geniuses. God damn, America. What the fuck is wrong in your stupid, stupid heads? And I don’t mean the bullet.

Very true. But he does love a good ransacking of capitol and federal buildings.
