US Capitol under siege

We don’t survive this, this is much worse than 9-11, it it doing far more harm to the nation and the same old dumb asses are saying everything’s fine.

It’s not a question of if we dissolve, but how.

The people who stormed the Capitol today have committed treason.

This is, plains and simple, a coup attempt.

The constitution they claim to worship actually delineates the penalty for that.

I, personally, am opposed to that level of punishment on ethical grounds, but if they want to commit such violence then they must accept what violence they get in return.

Republicans are insects.

Are they aware that the US military is charged with defending the US from all enemies, both foreign AND DOMESTIC…?

You all have gone nutty. A few social workers should be sent. Re education camps and dehumanizing language aren’t necessary.

Lower life forms of all levels rise up in (peaceful) protest.

I’m not dehumanizing them. I am asking that law and order be restored. I won’t cry if any of the protesters get hurt. The constitution is clear on the penalty for treason.

Any Babylon 5 fans here? I think President Clark is about to turn Earth’s defense grid back on the planet.

This is rich, coming from you. You inked all over the place when there were protests in Portland, but now that there’s an actual attempted coup, an actual attack on the Capitol while the Senate and House were in session, you’re all, “hey, chill, dudes.”

You’re a fucking waste of space.

Definitely clean up DC. But I never advocated re-education camps and suspension of civil liberties.

It’s entirely appropriate.

Let’s not forget - the entire reason today happened is precisely because the right wing, for years, has assumed that they have the capacity for rage, and that their opposition doesn’t. They get off on intimidating others.

Well, if you storm the heart of government of a world power why is that surprising?

I say give them a half an hour warning to disperse and if they don’t then remove them by any means necessary.

If you want to play army then you have to basis on which to complain when you are answered in kind.

Trump should be impeached for inciting a riot and attempting a coup. He should be removed from office then immediatley arrested and prosecuted.

Seconded. @Gatopescado, fuck you. You are a worthless piece of shit who provides zero value added to this forum. I seriously considered pitting you the other day, but elected not to because your dumbass isn’t worth it. I’ll save my pittings for posters who actually post content (however vile or disingenuous), not vapid one-liners.

Go fuck yourself times a thousand, you shitwit.

Well said. He’s a douche.

FFS, what the fuck is wrong with PBS?! They’re interviewing some conservative schmuck (Ron Estes) from Kansas who’s now - predictably - talking about antifa and other shit.

God damn, enough of false equivalence and “the right to protest.”

No, fuck that – I’m done with mainstream media trying to humor us with dishonest defenses of “protest” and “free speech.” The entire situation was caused by a great big fucking lie that frankly has been enabled by many in the media, even if they don’t realize it.

You honestly think genocide is the solution?

We survived the Kent State shooting, Days of Rage, Nixon, and Weatherman bombings. We’ll survive this.

Yes, that’s true, although it’s not like there’s some divine right of democracy bestowed on America. Let’s not downplay this actual coup attempt while it’s happening. I mean, Germany survived the Beer Hall Putsch, eventually.

I think that Trump voters are no different than the Confederates. They are a class of traitors who should be stripped of their rights to vote and of their representation; they should not be considered citizens until they can be re-educated, rehabilitated, and reintroduced into society as American citizens.

I don’t see that happening, however. We will hear calls to “heal” and these human cancer cells will remain within the body of our republic ready to explode into a massive metastasis in the near future. I had backed away from some of my more incendiary commentary for a while, but I can’t help it. My patience and decency have been exhausted.

I give up: we’re watching a coup. A lot of citizens are watching others attempting to steal their country from them. It’s clear that some Americans are just bad citizens, and they are to be condemned. Others are questionable citizens, and this is their time to show us what kind of citizens they are. The latter can show us by abandoning the Republican party and, at minimum, becoming an independent.
