US Capitol under siege

One trump terrorist was quoted on camera that “this is just the beginning”, and went on to say “they’ll be back with guns”. What does your pea brain think he means?

It may not be “right” to kill him before he kills us, but it’s his choice.

We just need to start enforcing laws, even when politically inconvenient, in order to send the message that process, law and order actually matter. What we don’t want is an escalation of rhetoric and action that leads to a new civil war. No one will win that.

Arrest and hold trials for those breaking the law regardless of party affiliation.

Oh I agree, no civil war: I think we can solve this problem by labeling QAnon, Proud Boys, and a few others as “terrorist” groups and then use DHS/FBI/Sec Svc resources to take them down. We can start by identifying every last one of the insurrectionists who entered the Capitol without authorization and impose the maximum penalty under the law.

We are also going to have to take another closer look at social media, and we will have to put an end to online conspiracy theories.

Good for you! Coming to the realization the rule of law is correct. Next step is realizing it applies to ALL people. Small steps!

'In the meantime, when some armed Y’all Qaida terrorist is threatening me, I’ll deal in an appropriate manner. If he survives, put him on trial.

So the solution to suspected fascism is real fascism. Interesting concept but think it through.

Fuck you too.

Psst… I’m the one who has consistently argued that. Folks here support lawlessness when it furthers their political agenda. Somehow that makes me a bad person.

Oh, you’re a bad person for a lot of reasons.

No, it’s no more fascist than Reconstruction. It’s Reconstruction II. This time, though, we finish the job: we eradicate the traitors. If they can’t be good citizens, they stay in their camps, they can’t vote, they can’t carry arms.

No, they didn’t; but we all know that you’re a dishonest trollololol lolol lolol

Mhmm… freedom of speech and law and order are oh-so bad! 2 of the 7 deadly sins right there.

These events are horrifying. In my opinion, Donald Trump should be prosecuted for incitement to riot and the senators who clubbed together to challenge Vice President Pence’s authentication of the election results should be expelled.

You don’t support law-and-order, you voted for Trump. You’re amoral garbage.

I should know better, but I gotta ask how you imagine that happening in real time. De-escalation and then review footage, evidence, and make arrests? Or have law enforcement resort to violence, beat them up, arrest them all, and sort it out later?

I would absolutely consider expelling senators – starting with Hawley and Cruz. It may not happen, but we should see if it’s possible.

Why not grab some and cuff them at the fringes? I’m not an expert in crowd control but surely the police have a clue with dealing with mobs. That said, if an example of arrest, charges filed, trials held, and punishment meted out was consistently employed at these mob events, regardless of political affiliation,

Some of you guys need to ratchet down the emotion. The people who stormed the capital should be arrested and tried. I don’t think anybody should be expelled from congress, even Cruz. That is crossing a serious line. I don’t agree with octopus except that we shouldn’t fight fascism with authoritarianism.

I think I can predict your forthcoming invitation.

Yes, thank you; I would like to get all Pitty about this.

I came into the big house about an hour ago, to find my landlord, landlady, and their son watching Newsmax. I said to them, “So… any chance your boy is gonna step up and put a stop to this thing?” They are all hardcore Trumpists. My landlady got my landlord a MAGA hat for Christmas in, like, 2017.

“He did,” they said. “He put out a one-minute video Tweet.”

“Oh, ho, a one-minute video Tweet, that oughta show 'em. How about getting on national television and putting out a 20-minute speech to the nation, like any other president would do? Heck, any other president wouldn’t have asked them to storm the Capitol in the first place.”

No response. I find it insane that they’re continuing to justify absolutely everything Trump does, especially after today. But I’m afraid to debate them too much, because of the power imbalance, though I do dearly love them.
