Valar Hiatus: The Game of Thrones offseason thread

Other places are saying one of the Greyjoy brothers. My wildcard guess? Flashback Aerys Targaryen.

He definitely has the look of a Greyjoy, but if they are going to cast one it’d more likely be Victarion than the Damphair. And pretty sure GoT doesn’t do flashbacks.

Unless they are about Cersei being told her future?

And there was a flashback showing Jamie as the King-killer.

So um yeah. A reprise of the past is entirely possible.

Don’t recall this flashback. You may be confusing the show with the books.

I hope it’s not Damphair. He’s such a dickhead.

McShane would be brilliant as Randyll Tarly, though.

Tarly is generally described as having a halberd-sized stick up his butt. Putting McShane in that kind of role would be a waste of his talents - I’m sure he can underplay a part, but why would you want him to?

FWIW, the HBO chief said Jon Snow is indeed dead… but in such a way that he (the chief) might be either joking or misinformed: http://www.cnn.com/2015/07/31/entertainment/hbo-game-of-thrones-snow-thr-feat/

Well, Harrington isn’t in Northern Ireland for a holiday is he. And you don’t wear your hair like that for free.

Harington (One ‘r’, not two) himself said that he wasn’t coming back for S6. But as mentioned upthread, he was seen on the plane to Belfast along with most of the rest of the cast for S6 production that started last month. So he lied.

Nay, that was ACTing! Thank you!

No. Only read the first book, There is certainly a flash back scene where the King Killer (Jamie) and Ned are involved but canna find it. LOL. Such is life.

I believe this was filmed, but it absolutely was never shown on the show. The Cersei flashback is the only flashback that was used.

That was not on the show. There was a scene of Jamie telling the story, might have been one of Ned also, but it was never shown.

Nitpicks: it’s “Kingslayer” and “Jaime.”

That’s a weasel answer because nobody is asking the right question. Of course he is dead now; we saw him get stabbed several times in the chest. The question is not, “Is Jon Snow dead?”; what they should be asking is, “Will Jon Snow stay dead?” to preclude evasive answers that don’t tell us what will happen next season.

I don’t know why anyone would even expect a true answer when asking that. They shouldn’t be asking a god damn thing because the show runner isn’t going to tell you what the fuck is going to happen in his damn show, damn.

Yeah, OK, Maggy the Frog was a necessary concession due to the whole prophecy thing. But other than that, they definitely are not prone to doing them. Which is good, because I think flashbacks are lame.

I don’t believe that Jaime became a POV character until at least Book 3, and I don’t think Aerys ever was, so whose chapter would it be? There may have been reference to the events but flashback means a specific thing.

So apparently Maxvon Sydowwas (re)cast as “the Three-Eyed Raven” (!)
