Van der Sloot's killed again!

That’s sort of what I think too. He slipped her some Roofies (or whatever) and she’d been drinking, and who knows if she was on some sort of prescribed meds that don’t go well with whatever v.d. Sloot may have given her?

So she has a seizure, or becomes unresponsive, or perhaps comatose. Then, v.d. Sloot freaks and decides he has to get rid of a “body” that isn’t even dead! What is especially sad to me if this scenario is indeed how it played out is that, while she may have been in serious distress, her condition might have been quite treatable if attended to in a timely fashion.

By going that route, v.d. Sloot would have been running something of a risk to himself (assuming under this scenario that he did indeed drug and/or rape her) but… even if you’re a sick fuck like v.d. Sloot, you’re already taking quite a risk carting the unconscious Natalee off for burial (alive) or dumping in the sea— why not take the lesser risk of driving by a hospital or fire station and dumping her there instead?

Stupid fucker sure would have saved himself a lot of trouble, and obviously, saved Natalee and her family far, far greater trouble.

I recently saw a report casting blame on the FBI. Van Der Sloot should have been arrested right then. They had him on video accepting extortion money. The FBI were right next door taping.

Instead this guy uses the extortion money to finance a trip to Peru. An innocent woman dies because this jerk wasn’t arrested earlier.

Sure, the FBI wanted to get him for murder. But, at least an extortion case would have put him in prison for awhile.

A bit of a non sequitur but…

Has anybody mentioned yet that “Van der Sloot” translates (very roughly) into English as “From the Ditch”?

I think ‘ditch’ in this case is something more like a drainage-ditch or some other sort of small waterway. Someone with better Dutch than me could explain it more properly.

Still, it does seem rather à propos.

Wow, he sounds more and more like a serial killer. Let’s hope his stay in that Peruvian prison is long, eventful and painful.

According to your own link, they were private funds, not federal funds.

I can’t put blame on the FBI. Look how many times vdS had to be let go in Aruba. They wanted to make an airtight case that he couldn’t walk away from, with all the t’s crossed and i’s dotted. Hindsight says what they should have done, not reality.
This link has this eye-opening tidbit:

:eek: Is he covering up for a friend by implicating his dead father? I wonder what his mother thinks about that. Or is he telling the truth? I wonder what his mother thinks about that.

CNN is reporting that van der Sloot’s attorney is requesting that the judge strike the confession because he didn’t have representation at the time the confession was made. With all this publicity, it’s hard to unring that bell. Oh, he’s also been transferred to a medical facility. Hard to be in gen pop, isn’t it?

StG

The Colombian intelligence agency, DAS, says he’s not a suspect in the disappearance of the Bogota girls.

Neither can I. The FBI has no arrest authority in Aruba. They needed to prepare a case strong enough to have Aruba grant extradition on an Aruban citizen, and that takes time.

He isn’t in gen pop, I don’t think. He’s being held at the prosecutor’s office. He was tranferred to a medical facility for a psychological check-up:

*Police moved Joran van der Sloot to a cell at the prosecutor’s office on Thursday as officials prepared to file charges following what they called a remarkably complete confession in the beating and strangling death of a 21-year-old woman.

A psychological examination is pending…*

Is there a reasonable basis to assume he’ll get any special treatment in jail? Sure, he’s famous (more infamous really) but does that entitle him to any kind of protection against the dangers he might encounter in jail?

I have a feeling he’s not long for this world in any case. He’ll be the only member of the Aryan gang in a jail full of badass Peruvian hombres pissed off at him for killing a local girl. As a certain cyborg might say, hasta la vista… dickwad.

The latest news says, yes. He’s going to a jail where the inmates have private cells. Indeed, the Peruvian government doesn’t want the embarrasment of van der Sloot dying too soon.

This security camera clip was released today. It is a chilling look into the mind of a psychopath. We see Joran trying to get himself an alibi. After, presumably, just having killed the girl, and having showered, he leaves his hotel room carrying two cups of something, walks around the hallways a bit untill he sees some hotel personell, then pretends he has lost his key and asks them to let him in.
No doubt his idea was that he could pretend someone else murdered her while he was out getting his girlfriend some coffee.

This guy is a classic psychopath. No conscience whatsoever. Just selfpreservation. I read about such people, but seeing one live is…well.

From what I remember from the case, VanDerSloot’s father stopped all police interrogations of his son. Basically he told his son not to say anything, even to give an alibi, until he had a chance to brief him. He also reportedly wouldn’t let the authorities into the home to gather evidence without a subpoena, even as the girl was missing and not yet presumed dead, and in that lag time might have arranged to dispose of the evidence, namely his wet jeans and gym shoes.

A plumber might not have known the justice system well enough to know that not saying anything was even an option. When people are read their rights in this country, it’s surprising how many choose to talk anyway, especially when they’re young and cocky and think that they’re one step ahead of the police.

Yes, I’ve been meaning to take issue with this. Consider this article at ABCNews.com:

That seems pretty privileged to me. And having your dad, who knows the legal system, lean on the cops whenever you get in trouble is not the norm.

He’s going to a special segregated cell block:

*At Castro Castro prison, Van der Sloot was fed the Peruvian chicken dish “seco de pollo,” prisons director Ruben Rodriguez said. The Dutchman will have his own cell in a small block near the director’s office.

The only other two prisoners on the block are a reputed Colombian hit man charged with strangling a Peruvian socialite and a provincial mayor charged with laundering drug money*

And right on cue, here’s his retraction:

http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/100621/world/eu_netherlands_van_der_sloot

CNN hasfootage of his cell. Looks quite reasonable to me. Apparently, he has already become friends with his cellblock mate, a hit man.

Jorans mother, Anita van der Sloot, has said in an interview that she thinks Joran would be capable of murdering Flores, and that he has put her family through enough already and that she won’t be visiting him in jail. Quite a sensible decision, in my opinion. Van der Sloot has two brothers and both of them are upstanding citizens.

I love his “bathroom”.

Now they think he may have killed several Thai ladies while over here. Story here.

I don’t think that is true. Yes, Van der sloot was baited in Thailand by an undercover agent sent by Dutch journalist Peter de Vries,. That agent asked ven der sloot if he would be interested in trafficking, and van der Sloot replied with an eager yes. He wouldn’t have done that if he had already set up an operation of his own.
And " some Thai girls went missing at about the same time van der Sloot was in Bangkok?" I would like to see stats on how many Thai girls go missing when vandersloot is safely locked up in a Lima prison.

No, he’s a sociaopath, who is unfortunately attractive to young women, he has no qualms about using that attractiveness in a completely selfish way, he has poor impulse control, he has murdered two girls, and I would say that is enough.

Admittedly, Thais disappear every day, and the National Enquirer is hardly a reliable source. Still, worth checking out. It’s not like van der Sloot is some poor, misunderstood shlub.
