Dogs are walked, coffee is ingested, off to launder.
Yes, Loo (new nick for you!) - it is really sad to see all the dead and dying trees. Have you noticed all the broken water pipes in the street? Our neighborhood has many of them. And the other day, a main thoroughfare (6 lanes with a median) near my house buckled! It looked like an earthquake had happened! Lots of streets are cracking and shifting.
This is the strangest weather I’ve ever witnessed.
Anyway, Happy Tuesday everybody!
I haven’t personally witnessed the street buckling and water main breaks (we’re way NW in the burbs) but seemingly every local evening newscast is peppered with reports on them. I think they said the other day that there were 7 or 8 hundred water mains broken now. House foundations too are shifting and cracking. Crazy!
janis, will you be my chef? That sounds wonderful.
Yes, we’re watering our foundation, too! I’m way out on the west side.
I’m bored, entertain me.
Also sick of looking at tables (it’s amazing how much this people have worked for what tiny results) and still looking for a flat.
Nava I hear ya! Why when I was lookin’ for a table for the breakfast area I saw hundreds of 'em before I found the right one! What? Oh that kind of table. Nevermind!
It’s hawt out but not real hyooomid, well, at least for here. Plus there’s a breeze a’ blowin’. NICE! The breeze keeps the gnats (N.O.G.) from buzzin’ around so much.
loo and Rebo, streets bucklin’? Foundations shiftin’?
I want cake!
Aaaaaaaaaand I’m going to have to go back to the Hometown Stompin’ Grounds soon. My grandma just died. I had a feeling when I saw her it would be the last time. Stubborn to the end. salutes
Done painting for today! I think the cheap white paint has finally covered the blue, green, and yellow of the previous walls. (Tip: Don’t ever buy cheap paint when it matters. You end up using twice as much, so the savings are nil, and it takes twice as long.) Plus I painted all the door trim as well as 3 doors. I need to scrub the entry doors (it’s a french door) then paint them - maybe tomorrow. I’m done today.
I also washed, folded, and put away the load of whites - huzzah for clean unders! **FCD **was down to his last pair, so he’ll be happy. And now I’m having a chickie sammich with ranch on grain bread while the chickie carcass and 1 leg are simmering to make soup stock. When I’m done eating, I’m going to shower, then assume the knit position and start making my brother’s afghan. I’d like to get it to him before it’s too cold.
Tomorrow, I’ll be making a WalMart run. I want to get more wet cat food and a couple more wrist supports. I have only one left, and it’s pretty sad looking. I was glad to have it while painting today - it made a huge difference!
Sounds like Houston is falling apart! * FLEE!!! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!! *

Is it wrong that I pray for VunderLair Mk. 1 to get absolutely flattened this weekend?
**BBBobbio **- I don’t think it’s wrong at all. It would be wrong if it was full of nuns and puppies and orphans, but empty? No biggie…
I want cake - I blame whoever it was that brought it up in the first place. grrrrrrrrrr
First you have to make sure that Irene’s not going to pull a Hugo. According to the storm tracker I just looked at, it might.
Every time I hear the recent hurricane news, I have to add a “too-rah-loo-rah-too-rah-loo-rah-yay!” to the end of it.
What if I filled it with lawyers, used car salesmen, and neo-Nazis instead?
Hey, I like Dexy’s Midnight Runners.
I was nearly thrown down the back steps of the office building for asking if Irene was a one legged Japanese hurricane.
What do you call a one legged woman standing against the wall? Eileen…
We just had an earthquake in southern Merrylande!
Beat me to it, **BBBobbio **- the whole house was shaking and the critters freaked out. I went outside and there was much barking and car alarms going off.
VWife just called. A friend in Virginia Beach felt it there, too.
ETA: According to the local news, it was centered in the DC area, and vague reports of damage in Arlington, VA. A couple of pictures fell off the wall at home.
I love my four month daughter. I’d love her just a tinsy bit more if she hadn’t spent the last two hours screaming at the top of her lungs for no discernable reason. She’s still doing her banshee imitation right now.
And we felt it on Long Island!!!
5.9, and centered between Richmond and Charlottesville.
