Waiting for it to Get Light in the MMP

My SS was deposited a day earlier than I’d expected. YAY!! Time to pay bills. rah.

So, as I warned in the Kopek thread, here I am!

Am I supposed to bring refreshments?

When the dust has settled, I may just go south to confirm the rumor about Swampbear. The problem is that I don’t know just how Ruble planned to confirm it …

OW, pie is always favored.

Chocolate and beer is always a good choice.
Glad you are here, and I hope you stay.
I like Blossom for your name, and I get there in a very roundabout way.

Welcome, OW!! And I personally can confirm the rumor about swampy, because when he took me out to dinner lo these many years ago, he didn’t immediately fall, weeping, at my feet begging me to have him, just like ever other man I’ve ever met. You no doubt recall **Ruble **doing the same when we met…

I do crack me up!!

And back from erranding. I did a return at Lowe’s, we stopped in at my old office so **FCD **could pass some parts to a former coworker. Josh assumed I was back to work - silly man. I did look at my former desk - Baby Engineer has expanded to fill all the available space in that office, as expected.

After that, I dropped off the check at the credit union so my investment account can be opened, then we went to Firehouse Subs for lunch. Last stop was Aldi - I needed ground beef so I can make sketty sauce and some sloppy joes. And on the way back, we passed a little house that’s FSBO. **FCD **took down the number to call about it. We’re thinking it could be a starter for the kids. We shall see.

SIL just finished emptying the dishwasher, so I can start cooking soon. Onward!

I like Miss Owl. For her nick.

Did not get enough sleep. I should be feeling perkier. My back was ache-y last night. It hurt to lay down. I finally just got up and read. And immediately fell asleep in the chair.
Walked the dogs really early. It as kinda cool out.
I’m cooking some butter beans for Supper. Not sure what else we’ll have.
Y’all have a good afternoon!

The highly erotic temple dance in praise of Eros???
Rat, you may want to alter your rotation.

Spidey, already did some months ago, when I found out the owner liked shooting wild animals like elephants and zebras (albeit legally); I do not hold with that and took my custom to Jersey Mike’s subs.

Old Wench, I’d just add an “L” and name you Owl, but I’ll leave it up to the group. And I see Becks had much the same idea (but improved it).

You are most welcome here, I hope we can bring some small bit of peace to you in the days/weeks/months ahead; I like to think we’re good at that. And I subscribe to a quote by a SF writer named Spider Robinson: "Shared pain is lessened; shared joy increased". We’ll try to help out on both scores.
And all the excess cardboard has been removed along with a few items for Goodwill and lunch has been lunched upon. Still need a hand-help vacuum and some gas for the car, but that can come later. Got to 61F outside, but rain and cooler temperatures arrive tomorrow…bah.

That must have been a problem in the Navy. :dubious:

MOMMMMM gets the chocolate, and I’m sure someone will be by with the squid and the goats…

I can tell you from my conversations with her the past two weeks, she knows more about the Mumpers than some of the Mumpers know about themselves; while she may not have been one of us directly, Ruble shared with her. No squid or goat necessary.
Rat, you gotta take a trip towards Philly; we gotta get you a real Hoagie, like from Lee’s; soooo much better than anything from JJ or Joisey Mike’s.

You have no idea!!!

Meanwhile, I have a large pot of sketty sauce simmering away. I’m about to put a poke loin in the oven - it’s been soaking in teriyaki marinade for a little while. Sides will be rice and broccoli. I knew you all were wondering.

I made jambalaya and cornbread for the orifice.

My cow-orkers are like piranhas!

I managed to save a small bowl to take home to Mrs. L.A. I tried not to get the scorched parts at the bottom of the pot. I may have to make another batch just for her. Needless to say, it went over well.

She was actually a weaponized figurehead…

Welcome Miss Owl!

Back to skool tomorrow. Hopefully I wake up a bit earlier than I did this morning- slept in til nearly 11, far later than planned. Have one week off and my whole sleep schedule goes out…

The hail hammering on the roof probably isn’t helping either. I’m quite ready for spring now, thank you, but it’s supposed to get colder tomorrow, with a possibility of white stuff. Ugh.

Mom, I’m always interested in your food descriptions. It’s food-porn to me. It’s a carry over from too many food restrictions.

I’m making Mr.Wrekker some chicken fried steak with white cream gravy. Already cooked butter beans. I suppose I have to go all out and smash him a N.O.T.
He intended to lose 20 lbs before summer. Uh-oh. I don’t think it’s gonna happen.

The temp has fallen in these parts to the point I may need a fire. The cats are staring at me with daggers while sitting on the hearth rug. So bossy.
Have a good evening all y’all!

Evening all. The Tuesday Mac-n-Cheese has been consumed and the 3-month budget has been revised to include the tax refund, so all is well. Tomorrow will be Wal-Mart and gas up car time.

Becks, it got to 64F today in N. Ali-bama; tomorrow’s high is forecast to be 45F. Spring ain’t here yet.

flyboy, you’re either a great cook or the rest of your cow-orkers aren’t. Congrats on your culinary success.

Spidey, it’s been quite a while since I was in Philly; will let you know next time I head that way.

All y’all take care.

There’s a third option: FREE FOOD!!! Not to cast aspersions on flyboy’s cooking, but in my experience, people will inhale free food, regardless of what it is or how good it is.

**Becks **- really? I find my food listings kinda pathetic compared to what others here do. I’m a pretty basic cook - boring according to some. Tho I do make good soups.

Dishes are done. I’m about to assume the recline position. Alas, I’m craving chocolate cake, but I have none. Dammit.

That really sucks about your café baker. Given the job market, you are likely in high demand though.

metal mouse, I’ve worn glasses most of my life, but can target shoot fairly well. I generally know when I’m due for a distance upgrade on them when I begin to have problems hitting the target.

boofae, how did they get the sofa in your mum’s apartment?

swampy, I read your post as the couple being able to cut pancakes well and thought of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ae4NDjHr4Y

Mooooooom, it’s wise that you’re waiting until Roxy’s ride goes outside before installing a horn. :stuck_out_tongue:

Owl, I wouldn’t turn down some dark chocolate or a Black Abbey ale.

I had some excitement first thing when I drove into the parking lot at irk today. One of the supes accelerator stuck on her new car and she backed into the smoking shed (a carport, one of three on campus) a ton, taking it out of business for the day and resulting in having her car towed. Fortunately, no one inside , nor the driver was injured, just surprised.

I’ll be working overtime the rest of the week, so Nelson is off to daycare. Our new guy on the weekends didn’t get a lot done, the old bat is irking at her usual tortoise-like pace and I was off Monday. Oh, well, the little guy will be able to run with his buddies.

Mom, don’t go out and open a restaurant. I’m not exactly a gourmand.
Your food just sounds comforting to me. And, nice, dammit (:))

I lurves me some chicken fried steak; can’t tell you when I last had it, though. I’ve never made it & you can’t go to any fancy restaurant to get it - there’s a law against that. I should mebbe venture to the barrel that needs lube (it creaks). Didja ever notice that they’re all within about ¼ mile of an interstate exit?

I had pisgetti, well, shell-shaped pisgetti for dinner.
