Wanting more pics in the MMP

I’m up, I’m up! Not that I wanna be, but work must needs be worked, I guess.

Bright & sunny out, so I shut off the heat & cracked the door for the cats. Monkey needs to burn off some damn energy.

Off to shower.

There was a story in the news here this past weekend about a cat that wouldn’t come down out of a tree. They finally ran a big bin up to him with his favorite food inside and some of the owner’s clothing, and the cat was rescued. I just remember someone once saying “I’ve never seen a skeleton of a cat in a tree” - so I guess they always eventually come down, right?

My daughter and Toby may be discharged later this afternoon. His sugar numbers are good and he’s eating well. They like to monitor babies for 36 hours, which is late this afternoon. So fingers crossed…

Meanwhile, not so happy news on the furnace front. The tech is getting readings of 4ppm of CO thru the vents. Dammit. The furnace is 15 years old, and of course this would happen right when we’re trying to buy a boat. Dammit. We will have to discuss… but now my concerns about big expenses popping up suddenly smacks FCD upside the head. He blew them off before - silly man!

I made it into the orifice. The 5 was clear southbound (my direction), but northbound was backed up for several miles. There were a lot of cars with their lights off, so I assume nobody was moving at all.

I hope I haven’t driven into a lobster trap.

Morning all. I guess 2sdays are my sleep-in days, was abed until after 8am this morning. Scheduled hotels for my Thanksgiving drive to Topeka (I had Topeka already booked), so I’ll spend the night going in Mountain Grove, MO and the return trip at Jonesboro, AK. I probably could do the 700+ miles in one day, but why push things? I need to stop mail and newspaper delivery for next week, too.

Another nice day and heading to 72F according to the weather wizards, so the heater may not get much work today.

flyboy, hope you can make it home ok.

FCM, don’t know if I’ve ever had my heater checked for CO2 (it’s only about 5-6 years old–might be worth exploring. Hope it’s not real bad.

Hugs, blessings, and awwwwwws as required to all the other Mumpers. Off to finish tiding the kitchen and then starting on the bathroom. All y’all take care.

CO2 isn’t the issue - CO is. We’ve got a guy coming in a little bit to quote a new furnace. From what I’ve read, their expected life span is 15-20 years, so we’re at the theoretical beginning of the end. I’m letting FCD talk to him.

Got a call from the headmistress at the school where my daughter teaches. They want to bring her a bunch of food while she’s dealing with the new babby and she was asking me about their preferences, etc. I was also told it’s a surprise and I shouldn’t say anything. She has some sweet coworkers and they don’t want her to leave. But they don’t pay for crap and have no bennies and she can’t afford to stay there. If all goes well, she’ll have a new job this summer. We shall see.

All right, Mumpers, I’m looking for ideas. This is the fireplace in the basement:

The walls are 3 different shades of gray, depending on where you look. The carpet tiles are browns/grays/light blue. Furniture colors don’t matter, since it’s just miscellaneous stuff. Trim paint is all white.

I want to paint the fireplace bricks because I hates them, I does. I already asked on FB, but I’ll ask here - what color should I paint them? My first thought was black. Then I thought a nice contrast - red. Or maybe forest green. I don’t know. I just hate the bricks.

Not looking great. I checked a Google map. The 5 is closed, the 9 is closed, the 99 is closed… Chuckanut Drive is open, but you can’t get to it. I called WSDOT, anf they referred me to Whatcom County Roads. They said they’re alternating traffic in a single lane on Lake Samish Rd, so it sounds like people are getting through but it can take over an hour.

I told the woman that if there had been signs up saying, ‘If you go south, you may not be able to get back’ or something to that effect, I wouldn’t have come south. She said their signage was up, but WSDOT didn’t put theirs up. WSDOT’s electric sign north of Ferndale just had their ‘Vax up, Mask up’ message on it, so I thought it was OK until it was too late to turn around.

Just zoomed in on this map. Could it be that I can get to Chuckanut from the casino? If so, it would save a lot of time. Four hours 'til quitting time. Fingers crossed…

Just ate a mini charcuterie plate. So bad for me, but oh, so good. I had leftovers from the weekend. I never got my waddle in this morning because of a surprise meeting, but maybe I’ll get one in later before my jab. This week has turned stoopid busy so I’m trying to figure out where I can slot in activities of daily living like showers and food amongst all the crap going on.

Dang, the plumber is here. We found out the hard way that our ball valve to turn off the water to the house was not installed correctly. Also, it wasn’t possible to shut off the main supply to the house. Oops. So now that’s being fixed, along with something else but the husband unit is on a call yet he is the only one with the actual knowledge of what else needs to be done. Oh, well. One thing outta two ain’t bad as long as the order is right.

A Lunchable?

You’d think that of all places, Trader Joe’s would have the makings for mai tais.

They don’t. :frowning:

HA. If only I were so high brow.

Nah, I had some leftover fancy cheeses from the weekend plus some prosciutto. I found out I don’t actually like prosciutto on its own. It tastes like feet smell. I’ve got no class.

Home again, home again, jiggedy-jig.

Got a rib for lunch. That’s right, A rib. My manager gave me a look when I asked her to ring me up (“Just … one?”) but I genuinely just wanted a snack.

Besides, they let me cut my own meat & I made sure to snag a big, fat one.

I have an odd craving for chicken spring rolls, the kind in a translucent rice paper wrapper. It’s the wrong time of year & utterly the wrong weather - there’s nothing about lettuce and rice paper that sticks to your ribs - but dammit, I have a gnawin’ and a cravin’.
Must check the pantry for fixins - would definitely need to procure lettuce and cilantro, and also chicken.

Ouch sari! I hope that your bites heal quickly.

Glad you’re feeling better swampy.

metal mouse, I made the decision to take 2 days in each direction when going to Texas at Christmas. I could likely do the nearly 800 miles in one go, but it wears me out and doesn’t account for the possibility of inclement weather.

The CO issue is nothing to sneeze at Mooooooom. I lost a cousin a couple of years ago from a leak.

Irked, came home, walked Nelson, got doggy kisses from the neighbor boxer, et and am fixing to do KP before chilling in the studio.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

The HVAC company called and they’re sending a senior tech on Thurs to have a deeper look. Meanwhile, we’re just using the pellet stove for heat.

Once I realized I was down to the last coupla rolls of T.P. and that I was working late tomorrow night, well, that clinched it. Off to the Gettin’ Store for supplies.

They were almost out of toilet paper at the local Wally World! :scream: I had to get a different brand! { pose of woe }

Also, I’d been a bit anxious about the chicken thing. Once I actually cooked the chicken, I may not have the wherewithal to also make peanut sauce, assemble the rolls, etc.
Well, I forgot about the existence of frozen, fully cooked chicken breast strips (silly me) so crisis averted. Spring rolls soon!

Plus, I picked up some flax/chia/hemp seed healthy shit mix. Not for me, mind you - but the ratties are quite thrilled with their treat.

Kitties just split a tube of squeeeeeeezy crack, because I was feeling magnanimous.

It’s early for me to have dinner (I prefer to eat right before bed) so imma chill with “Lucifer” and cross-stitch for a bit.

One way or another. My mom saw a hawk eating a cat in a tree once.

Are you visiting family for Thanksgiving?

FCM can they repair the furnace instead of replacing it? Your daughter’s coworkers sound like lovely people. It’s too bad teacher’s get paid so little. :frowning: As far as the fireplace, my first thought is a brick color, second choice is a cream/antique white, third choice is white.

Oh no. :frowning: Have you tried BevMo?

We just had the appraiser come through for our re-fi. I hope we’re almost done with the process. I am soooo tired now. I’m snuggled up with Pixel and hoping to stay this way for awhile.

Happy Toesday everyone.

Sunny, yes, usually that’s a drive to the St. Louie area, but nephew #2 couldn’t get off work so they decided to assemble at his place, and I’m going to join them. Job for tomorrow is to take my Garmin out of the box and read the setup instructions. Got it for Xmas last year and this is the first real chance to use it.

shoe, enjoy the spring rolls.

Hope flyboy doesn’t float away (and that nellie makes her trains). No rain is sight this week for us in N. Ali-bama.

OK, Mac-N-Cheese has been assimilated and need to wash out the dish before it crusts on as tight as glue. All ya’ll take care.

Not yet, but I’m sure they have everything.

I made it home!

Woot! What hidden back way did you need to take?

Another picture out our back window. You’ll notice that one of our guests is cleaning up where one of our tomato plants was until yesterday. Very thoughtful of her.

Hope you make it home Flyboy. (eta I see you did) Good.

Mom, I do not like black bricks, just so’s you know. If you just have to paint your fireplace, I think you should go with a semi-gloss burgundy, (to match those stripes in your rug), or forest green. But then I’m not known for my good taste.

The weather isn’t that much worse and Wifey is thoroughly sick of all the rain, but that’s not
the primary reason for the move. We can cut our monthly expenses about in half over here, and Wifey can work or not, as she pleases, from now on. She’s a real estate broker. There’s no forced retirement in her line of work, but she’s tired, and wants to paint.

Steak and N.O.T.s for dinner tonight. I need to go get the barbie ready to go.
