Wanting more pics in the MMP

Were you done with that tomato plant or did she just end tomato season early?

Exit 236, Bow Hill Rd, The Skagit casino to Chuckanut Drive to Old Fairhaven Rd to the 5.

That’s what Thursday’s appointment should address. I hope. A new system will likely run $10-11K, which wouldn’t be a huge issue if it wasn’t for this whole buying a boat thing. We shall see how it all falls out.

Bumba - actually, I like burgundy a lot, as does FCD. Plus it’s brick-like, but not too much. You may just win the prize, if my spousal unit agrees…

RoxStar is in bed. Her parents and brother will be heading home shortly - just waiting for the discharge paperwork. So tomorrow, I’ll take the kid to school, then we’ll take lunch to daughter and SIL and meet the baby. And after school, Roxy will meet her brother.

SIL arranged for one of their friends to come over and clean the house - she was there when I went over to let the dog out, but I didn’t know she’d be there, so we startled each other. Anyway, she did a wonderful job restoring order to the disaster that was there just the day before. What a good friend!!

And my day is winding down. I’m going to crash on the recliner and watch NCIS binge-a-thon for a while. I love my granddaughter, but I’ll be so glad for her to go home!

I’ve gotten as far as making the peanut sauce (hoisin, garlic, plus assorted other stuff) and clearing off my table a bit.

The sauce is YUM and quite the incentive to keep moving forward with all the other work & cleanup.

Howdy Y’all! Laundry got done and sup got fixed and et. Outside of that we were sloths and retired drains on society of the highest order. We will have six folks over for Turkey Day, so includin’ us that is eight. Everyone has been twice shot and those eligible for the booster (includin’ me as of tomorrow) has been boostered so feelin’ pretty safe with that. Anywho, we started plannin’ for that today. I anticipate much food and merriment.

FlyBoy glad you made it home safe and sound.

shoe when you get a gnawin’ and a cravin’ nuttin’ else will do, so it’s good you gave in to the need.

Bumba the gardenin’ folk over to the church house (raised beds and the produce donated to a local food pantry) have discovered that deer are also especially fond of okra.

Wifey had already pulled up the plants, but there were some little green tomatoes and leaves left on the ground.

Shoe, your spring rolls sound an awful lot like the #2 appetizer at our favorite Thai place. Hope you enjoy them. We’ve never been ambitious enough to try to recreate them.

Steaks et. al. have been ingested and chill time ensues.
Later.

shoe I admire your cooking skills. You and Doggio always make me hungry and envious.

I found that deer were quiet fond of everything until I started letting my dogs into the garden. Mysteriously they disappeared after that. :woman_shrugging:

Mom’s flight was leaving from Sky Harbor at 10am, so we had to be there at 8am which meant we had to leave by 6am. I was awake around 4am because I stress about being at the airport on time.

After dropping her off, I went to the needlework store (which wasn’t going to be open until 9:30 am) and then found a place to have some breakfast. Mom called as it was being served because I didn’t think to get her jacket out of the back seat and she was freezing in the airport. I couldn’t do anything about it at that time, so apologized and ate my breakfast, then went back to the needlework store to learn that they didn’t have anything we needed.

When I finally got home, VBC wanted cuddles and brushing and suddenly my world got a whole lot better. George the Gormless is now big enough to grab the handle on the french door so now we have to keep that door locked lest the idiot manages to let himself out. He’s fearless and has no clue that anything is dangerous to his seven month self. Except for the big brown bugs (I don’t know what they are, but they remind me of an armored tank from the Heavy Metal movie). I think he had a close encounter with one in the catio because he shows much caution when one lands on the window screen when he’s on the sill.

Honeys, I’m hoooome! A long day, but yay for getting to sleep in my own bed. The shots were fine. Too soon to tell if they’ll work–nurse said it’ll take four months, but no anaphylactic shock. so that’s a win right there. This was a nice nurse. All the nurses were nice, and none of them sounded like the difficult, one, so maybe someone spilled water on her, and she melted.

Flyboy, glad you made it home. Heading back to the King St. Amtrak station, the driver said, “5 is closed, so I’m taking 99.” That was around 4:30. Anyway, glad I was able to take the train with all the road mess.

My daughter texted me this morning that her BIL’s town–he lives near the Canadian border–had been evacuated, and their new home, which they were about to move into, was flooded.

So much I want to reply to, but I haven’t had dinner yet, and all the sitting messed up my back, so tomorrow.

Hugs to all!

I’ve received an email saying the 5 northbound is now open. So I guess I’ll have a commute on Thursday.

ETA: I bought a 12-pound, brined turkey from Trader Joe’s today. It cost $23.99.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave, another double.
swampy, I’ve had management jobs where I’d work harder for less money, so yeah OT rocks.

Flyboy, glad you made it home.

Unknown, once a year Alex make a run for the outside, but oddly enough she rums right back in when I call her. I guess it’s a combination of “I need to test his love for me” and “Outside: One Star. Do not recommend.”

The local deer seem less impressed with Gordie. Or at least can’t be bothered to do $1000 of damage to a $100 dog with a big mouth.

We don’t judge you for eating healthy. but enjoy the spring rolls(and even Iron Chefs use shortcuts in the home kitchen)

Yeah, that’s why we feed and clean up after the little furbutts. They make everything better.

Plugged in the electric blanket tonight and have it up near my pillow, and now Nikki is my Bestest Friend In Da World.

Probably a stink bug. They’re nasty.

Well, that’s a spot of good news! Here’s hoping it helps.

Aw, shit. That sucks! :frowning:

Spring rolls were delicious (and dead stupid easy) but predictably, I’m up in the middle of the night starving. Lettuce and rice paper and a bit of chicken just don’t hang around for long.

Need something to fill my tummy before I can get any more sleep.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 42 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 81 and N.O.S. So, a little coolish in the mornin’ and a little warmish in the afternoon. Weather be weird. Today is lay in provisions day. That will be up to OYKW as I have an appointment to get shot at nine-fifteen this mornin’ and then will head over to the church house for the usual church janitor Junior Warden duties. Due to a gnawin’ and a cravin’, sup shall be fried salmon patties, smashed N.O.T., peas, and bizkits.

Nellie glad the appointment went well. Here’s hopin’ the shots worked. Glad you didn’t have to put up with the wicked nurse of the west.

unknown I concur with shoe, on the big brown bugs bein’ stink bugs. Nasty things they are!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas, alack, and oh so much bother, I suppose I must needs purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public attire. Life can be so difficult!

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

I woke just a bit before 5, but didn’t hit the shower till after 6. I’m glad this is the last morning I have to take Roxy to school. Henceforth, when I get up, I can just mosey out in robe and slippers till I feel like getting showered and dressed. Because retired.

We’ll pick up a fried chicken meal at the local deli and take it to feed Daughter and SIL when we go meet our grandson. I haven’t told Roxy that she’s going home today. She can deal when the time comes. Here’s hoping she’s so enchanted by her brother that she doesn’t want to leave home.

Looks like we have a couple of mild days, then it will plunge to sub-freezing on Firday night. Tomorrow, I need to let the pellet stove cool down so I can empty the ashes and clean it a little. My least favorite winter chore.

I’ll also need to pull out the carpet shampooer - it’s been a spill-y week in the living room. Gravity was especially cruel this week.

Weirdness in our ISP email account - this morning it dumped duplicates of emails going back to Nov 2. Socialist plot, right? Or Antifa? Or aliens?? Must caffeinate.

Happy Wednesday!

Good morning everyone.

It’s a brisk 30 degrees outside with rain expected later in the day. Fortunately, the flooding should start receding due to the temp drop and slightly less rain falling. It’s definitely a mess further up North and even in British Columbia. The trans-Canada highway is underwater. Mother Nature was not kind to the west coast of North America.

Another busy workday awaits, more problems to solve, more information to disseminate, more stuff to research. Plus all that annoying “ankle-biter” work that gets pushed to the bottom because I’m busy putting out fires that have cropped up. I’m glad I have a good fire hose!

nellie, I’m so glad the appointment went well and I hope the shot works!

FCM, it was really nice of SiL’s friend to come and clean the house so it’s ready for Tobias and the family’s arrival. You know you have to pay the picture tax right?

Only one more wake-up and then it’s the weekend. Oh wait, the weekend will be busted up by having to go to the celebration of life. I really don’t know why I get excited about weekends. It used to be because I could sleep in a little, but my damn internal clock just doesn’t let me get past three o’clock in the morning very often.

I’m going to have to pull out the steam cleaner too; holidays are coming and I last had it out early this summer. Gotta get on that too.

Time for another cup of coffee!

You’re going to regret saying that!

There will be pics, eventually, tho I’ll confine most to FB, so you can get your fill there!

Roxy has been deposited at school. I filled my car. Dishwasher has just finished its cycle, and the ice maker is making ice. Pellet stove has been refilled. I guess I need to start gathering Hurricane Roxy’s detritus. I also need to make arrangements for my oil change tomorrow or Firday…

Happy Hump Day!

Chilly 34 degrees this morning. Supposed to get up into the 60s though.

I dropped the dogs off at daycare. One of their park friends was being dropped off at the same time. I should have kept mine in the truck until Coco got into the building. When the three of them saw each other, there was much excitement and pulling.
I don’t know what has gotten into Ripple. I’ve been calling him Old Man since he turned two. The last 4-5 days he has reverted back to puppyhood energy levels. I know he likes the colder weather. One of the guys at the park said Ripple did more in two hours than he has seen him do in the last 6 months.

I wanted to get an oil change today, but I’m not feeling up to it. I’d like to get it done before Thanksgiving in case I do head down to the armpit. Not sure yet what we’re doing, I’m waiting to hear what my son’s irk schedule will be. If OT starts next week, then he will have to irk 5 12-hour days. He won’t have to irk on Thanksgiving, but he won’t get off until 7am that morning. I know he won’t want to go anywhere. He’s not sure if OT starts next week or the following week.
I could go without him, I guess.

I have a sore throat and a stuffy nose. It’s not unusual for me to wake up that way, especially when the heat is on. I thought I’d feel better once I was up and about, but it’s not happening, so I probably have a cold.

I have a lot to get done today, even without the oil change.
All I really want to do is go back to bed.

Overlygirl had a choir concert yesterday, which was fun. I didn’t realize I actually missed school performances. Also, thanks to COVID, there were fewer people allowed in the building so it was way, way less chaotic than pre-COVID, which was kind of awesome.

After we got home, I was so exhausted from my latest COVID jab that when I discovered I was completely out of laundry, after I washed a load, instead of waiting for it to dry I slept in an old swim cover. My arm is throbbing and I woke up to a massive headache and sweating like a mofo. Oh, well - it’s worth it and it won’t last forever. Plus, I just turned 46 so as far as I know I might be having the sweats for a whole other reason instead.

The kids have a half day of school today for some reason or the other. What’s aggravating as hell is that it is the exception rather than the rule that they go to school for a full week out of any given month without getting out early or having days off. I kind of expect it close to the holidays, but given the myriad development, records days and breaks, along with early releases, the kids seems to be showing up or sleeping in at random intervals and it’s a tad aggravating.

Today is cloudy and warm but the temp is supposed to plunge into fall again tomorrow. I have a feeling it’ll stay there.

My daughter was in her elementary school chorus, her middle school chorus, her middle school play, and two high school choruses. Plus there were the dance lessons and the piano lessons with their recitals. Apart from the piano recitals being interminably long, I enjoyed attending all the performances. Swim meets, not so much. Can’t wait till the grands get into activities… except sports. I’ll go, but I won’t be happy. :stuck_out_tongue:

Busy morning. I did dishes, gathered Roxy’s stuff, vacuumed, scooped cat poop, made ice, and I just moved wet clothes from the washer to the dryer. When they’re dry, I’ll pull out Roxy’s clothes and pack them, then we’ll head over to the deli to pick up lunch, then down to meet Toby. And when we come home, we’ll drop my car off at the shop for its 190K mile service. They’ll do it tomorrow, but I don’t want to get up early, so…
