That’s the dishwasher loaded, so off to bed shortly. We had roast beef and Yorkshire pudding - Saturday evening is usually a roast - but for some reason I made too much batter.
Yorkshire pudding is made from the same batter as pancakes - flour, eggs and milk. I usually use 4 oz of flour with one egg and half a pint, but for some strange reason I used 8 oz of flour and I had already put the egg and milk in before I realised, so had to add another egg and more milk. The Yorkshires were fine but I now have a bowl of batter as we were too full for pancakes as pudding.
Pancakes as I understand them here in the US include a leavener such as baking powder. From what I gleaned from “Good Eats”, the batter used for Yorkshire pudding is the same as for popovers.
The AT&T tech was here for over 2 hours today. Nelson finally figured out that if he didn’t want to be crated, he would have to play nice.
It’s storming out right now. If we get much rain this weekend, there will be flooding problems. Popeye’s fixed supper ‘cause I had a gnawin’ and a cravin’.
Evening all. Not much accomplished today outside of nappage and decided to go to Jimmy John;s for a sub tonight…I had stopped going there as their owner had hunted big game animals in Africa which is something that irks me, but I finally read he left the company near the end of 2019, so I’ll put them back on the eatery list. Poor lady on duty was by herself (the others were on deliveries) but managed to handle the orders pretty well.
shoe, glad Pretzel is doing well; and you shouldn’t feel guilty, you were trying to do what was best for a friend, and it turned out so much better than expected.
flyboy, vegemite and cheddar sounds almost, but not quite, completely unappetizing. But to each their own…
red, rain seems to have let up down here, but more is expected tomorrow night. May have to visit that Ark Park they have up in Kain-tucky…
cookie, just be glad you have hair…my top is pretty much deserted so I depend on the back and sides for coverage.
nellie, hope the walk was good.
OK, need to finish off the sammich (good as I remember it, love their bread) and be about things. All y’all have a good night and I’ll catch you tomorrow.
I didn’t get out for a walk. My body decided to have a migraine festival instead. Then when I finally left for a walk, it was chilly and raw and yucky outside, so I wimped out. That giant blooping sound you hear is my body turning to flab.
nettie, having made both popovers and Yorkshire pudding, I can attest they do, in fact, use the same batter. I’ve had more success with popovers than with Yorkshire, though. For some reason, the Yorkshire pudding never puffed as much as I thought it should.
shoe, what MetalMouse said. And you were pretty depressed back then, which may have cast a pall over your thinking. If I haven’t said so before, Pretzel is the best name for a snake ever.
Howdy Y’all! Been, as promised, a day of much sloth here at da cave. Netflix got watched, nappage got achieved, and sup got cooked and et. OYKW handled the grill while I whomped up fries. 'Twas good! Today was a nice warmish day, so I think most of the 'hood decided to grill, as outdoors smells like grilled foodstuffs.
I read, but retained little, so woohoo, aww, shame, congrats, good for you, and other stuff to everyone.
red and metal mouse I hope to get to Nashville in the next few years, assuming everything else gets better.
Hubby did okay yesterday, but ran out of steam this morning and is having more discomfort. He’s decided to forego his shower for now, which isn’t like him at all. Today might be only liquids.
Guess I’ll go make the coffee or tea.
Let’s see if I can add a picture of my nails. I’m not very good at it.
It looks as if ‘popovers’ are very similar to the Yorkshires that I make. There is no raising agent needed as the hot oven (200°C) is enough to turn the liquid to steam. Some people use carbonated liquids (beer?) to help, but milk works fine for me. The baking tray needs some lard in the bottom and to be well heated before adding the batter.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 61 Amurrkin out and foggy. We are under a DENSE FOG ADVISORY this mornin’. I have looked out and it is, indeed, pea soup out there. The big plan of the day is virtual deheathenization. Next Sunday we return to in person worship. We shall have Sunday N.O.L. of poke tenderloin, baby lima beans, squish casserole, rolls and peach cobbler with ice cream. YUM! Beyond that, who knows what the day will hold.
MOOOOOOM I assume y’all are on the way back to Merryelande by now. Safe Travels!
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
From yesterday:
So Second sort was horible. But 8 hours(2 OT) ain’t bad. Need to hit the rest slab.
Today:
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. I woke up before Gordie. When he got up, he started growling at the unoccupied bed, to wake me up to go out to do his business. Silly old man.
We should do a mini Mumpfest
Dicey, Nashville is a fun town. And not just because red lives there.
Miracle Whip? Bless your heart

I like the pic of a very perturbed owl looking out of his tree at a woodpecker hammering it, with the caption "Could you not?
I like Patrón.
Nah, you were trying to do what was best for her. But I’m glad she almost healed. And {{{{shoe}}}}
I still live. Not much happening except the same which is irk. I have the yard girl here today cleaning the vehicles. I had a bacon and homegrown mater sammich. I think I’m gonna make some chicken veggie soup in the jet pot.
I don’t think I told y’all but once I got into hubby’s business bank account last month I discovered the bookkeeper had been helping herself to the tune of $8100 more than she should have been paid for 2020. I considered pressing charges but I know hubby would not have so I sent her a spreadsheet showing all the ACH’s in two different accounts using two different names ( her maiden) plus copies of hard checks. I titled the sheet evidence. I asked her was she in some sort of trouble or what caused this. She came to see me and blamed it on wait for it ,menopause. I have been through menopause and it didn’t turn me into a thief. Anyway she paid back the money last week. And she is off the bank account and out of the 6 grand she would legitimately make. Stealing from an elderly man on his deathbed would not be taken kindly by the law. She’s lucky I am nice. She’s still got Karma and hell to deal with.
