It’s been about half a year since the last thread.
So what are you playing currently?
I’m working my way through 2-3: Dead Space takes most of my attention right now. Playing it for the first time and I’m LOVING it. And then every other day or so I play Afterfall: Insanity (extended edition).
Also been playing the 2010 version of Medal of Honor. Really enjoying it.
As part of Wasteland 2, while they are finishing with that game they re-released the original game, and I’ve been playing through that (and trying to remember all the old tricks).
Still working through the 2014 season in Madden 25.
Haven’t quite gotten to the end of Papers, Please yet.
Also still working on Mark of the Ninja I got from a Humble Bundle a little while ago.
Picked up Tropico 4 about a month ago and been playing it off and on. Been having more fun just in sandbox mode rather than playing the missions.
I’ve been playing lots of Scrabble and Euro Truck Simulator 2.
With the new X game on my horizon, I’ve gone back into Terran Conflict – and realized that there probably is no way that I’ll ever make it safely away from the Elephant.
Kerbal Space Program at the moment. My PS4 bundle containing Killzone: Shadow Fall and Battlefield 4 is being delivered next Friday (release date in the UK), so I’m really looking forward to that.
After the major disappointments that were Diablo 3 and Guild Wars 2 and Skyrim, I’m all out of optimism. The only potential games I can imagine trying to play would be Fallout 4 and the rumored Thief #Whatever, and no doubt Bethesda will fuck up the former by making it an MMORPG and the latter will dissipate like a torch flame struck by a water arrow—again.
I think my gaming days are over, boys. I have no interest in buying a new console for the 4 games in my interest range that will be released for it, and I’m pretty sure this is my last PC.
We’ve been playing Rocksmith the last couple weeks. Someone started a thread about the new version, Rocksmith 2014, so I pulled out the old version I hadn’t played for over a year. I had made it through maybe 1/3 the songs at the time.
This time, though, my 14 year-old son started playing it too, and my wife also started playing it, so we’ve got a critical mass going. My son has gotten though all the songs on at least some level, and my wife is doing OK, but has hinted she wants a bass (she plays bass on RockBand). I also ordered an electric pickup to fit in my acoustic guitar, to have a second guitar as well.
Prior to that was Skyrim for about a year and a half, for both me and my wife. It was an addiction. There are a few things I still wanted to do in that, but I’m afraid to start again…
XCOM: Enemy Unknown. Finally got it, finding it very good. The missions aren’t terribly hard (normal difficulty level) but I find losing an experienced soldier devastating. I’ve been pretty scummy.
I’ve been mostly playing the latest SimCity with the Cities of Tomorrow expansion. I still can’t in good conscience suggest that anyone buy SimCity (though it has improved considerably since launch), but CoT is quite good, and attempts to correct several of the base game’s shortcomings. There is at least one glaring bug (it’s why megatowers are kinda glitchy), which is reportedly the main priority of the next patch.
I’ve also been been playing Strike Suit Zero, which I had picked up during the last (I think) Steam sale. It may be enough to prevent me from starting up a new game of Terran Conflict, as the combat style is quite similar. It’s very linear, though.
All the recent talk abut X3: Terran Conflict here and on other forums has inspired me to try it; I’ve had it for a while thanks to one of those Steam sales but hadn’t gotten around to it yet. And while it looks interesting the people who call it confusing to get into are right; it’s not very intuitive.
Working through my immense backlog while still buying everything on sale that seems at all interesting. I’ve got a bit of a buying addiction. Mostly I check my Steam trading card eligible games, boot up one I don’t have any cards for and play it until I at least get all the drops. I know cards don’t matter, but I like having that little extra push to get me to try stuff.
Picked up FTL again. Still fantastic, and I’m looking forward to the expansion. Still need to unlock the mantis and crystal ships and beat the game with a handful of the awful, awful ships. The Vortex is just painful.
Replaying Silent Storm: Sentinels. I don’t think I’ve played a game with a more satisfying terrain destruction system.
Need to get around to finishing Mark of the Ninja. My pacifist ways put a bit of a damper on progress.
Assuming this isn’t just for video games, we’ve been playing a lot of the following board/card games:
Tichu I’ve got a group hooked at work and we play twice a week at lunch. It really is a modern day classic card game with a bridge feel but a shorter learning curve. Once it clicks, you can’t get enough.
Terra MysticaThe fact that this game has so many options makes me want to try them all before settling on one to master. I’m sure there will be expansion packs out as well to add new characters. It really is a joy after the first game (which is just learning how it all works).
Glory to Rome This game took me long weeks to learn on my own so I could teach it to friends. Luckily, it’s a game easier to teach and be taught than it is to learn from the book. It’s at its appearance a simple card game but there are so many options and choices and options and more options.
Mostly just playing Card Hunter right now - finished the campaign ages ago but there’s always farming and quests to do. Waiting for the Steam sale to start, maybe I’ll get something new to play.
