I’m green with envy.
In the Bay Area, clear and sunny, not a cloud in the sky. Probably around 50. It was 37 outside when I went into the kitchen this morning. The clowns on the TV weather say it’s a cold snap, never living in a place where it never got above freezing for an entire month.
You’re still up there? Didn’t we sell you to Wisconsin? I think we got two chickens and a duck in even trade.
About a foot of snow. Sunny. Cold. They closed down highways 70 and 63. Urged people to stay off ALL roads.
3rd snow day my college has given in 33 years.
Looks like I won’t have to go in to work tonight either most likely - I won’t be able to get off my street (hills at both ends). Darn…
Pressed sumbit too soon.
Called my mom this morning. In St. Louis they got a lot of ice. Most of the people whose power went out this summer during ‘the great storm of 06’ are out of power again, including my parents. They were at the laundromat this morning because my mom didn’t have any clean clothes and they were on their way to a hotel. My uncle can’t get himself and my elderly grandpa out of the house to find warmth because live power lines are down at both ends of his street. Craziness here in the midwest.
Color me envious. When I lived in Wisconsin, we got one decent snowfall on one year.
Here in Southern California, it’s sunny, clear (for once), cloudless, and 64°F. The San Bernardino Mountains are in plain veiw with only a few hints of snow at the top.
Don’t hate me because I’m beautiful.
Stranger
No offense, Stranger but I am no fan of the California weather. I like the change in seasons. I don’t like fearing fire or mudslides. I’m a traditionalist at heart, and a good ole tornado or blizzard does me just fine.
I am (truth to tell) kind of let down because it has stopped snowing here. We only got about 3 inches, maybe. I wanted it to snow alot more than that.
Well, that’s better than Ohio got. I’d take a couple chickens over Toledo any day.
Here in suburban Boston, it’s gray and cloudy with a mild drizzle. The temp is in the low 60s.
Boise, Idaho:
37°F, parly cloudy, fresh snow on the ground from last night, though some of it is melting. The mountains to the north and east are really pretty-looking all covered with snow.
Here in the Banana Belt of Western Colorado, we are sunny and clear, but only around 25F. We aren’t supposed to be above freezing 'til early next week. At least the snow from last week’s storm has (mostly) melted off the roads.
I couldn’t and had to go in to the office just as it started snowing. Just got back, and was surprised at the total lack of snowplows, sand and salt trucks anywhere in town or out. Maybe 6" on the ground, but blowing so much some spots are bare and drifts are higher. It’s wet, so the trees are well covered.
An updated beach pic is available (see sig). Yes, it’s work-safe.
I kind of miss weather, too, sometimes, but when I want snow, all I have to do is take a 15 minute drive up into the mountains, or a long weekend up the coast for other incliment weather. My once or twice a year visits to Milwaukee (plus late season business trips to other locales, like remote islands off the cost of Virginia) pretty much fill my needs for crappy weather. When I can sit out on a restaruant patio in January and enjoy a cool Beef & Tonic, there can’t be too much wrong with the world.
Stranger
That’s for damned sure.
Don’t you worry, they’ll be coming back to us soon, for our precious water…
But not off the mountains, thank heavens. Telluride’s gotten off to a slow snow start this year.
100+ degrees. So dusty it is hard to see more than a block or so ahead.
It’s bright. It’s a windless Autumn day with a blue sky. Uncannily calm, to be honest.
This is because there’s a freaking hurricane* headed direct for the UK, scheduled to make landfall this evening and to last at least 24 hours.
I can’t wait, to be honest. I love Xtr33m weather.
*Not actually a hurricane, but as near as we get to one here apart from that one in the 1980s - winds reaching 80mph or more, across the entire country.
Yesterday, it was sunny and 75, but with clouds hanging around the tops of the volcanoes near Guatemala City.
Today, it’s 1 foot of snow on the ground and freezing cold in Kansas City.
The life of the business traveler.
Bright blue clear sky, sunny, and it is allegedly 32F but I haven’t gone outside yet. That seems a bit low.
No fog around the mountains; clear, deep blue sky; the leaves on the trees range from a deep, glossy green to golden brown to orange. The air is crisp and cold, maybe 45 degrees, but it should warm up another 20-25 degrees or so today.
If I didn’t have to work, I’d spend today outside at the Huntington Gardens; it’s a near-perfect fall day.
