What is your favorite perfume/cologne?

I like Vanilla Fields. It really smells good on my, plus I love anything vanilla.

I love, love, love gardenia and jasmine scents. I have Carolina Herrera, White Diamonds, Beyond Paradise and Beautiful right now as favorites. Also have worn Chloe, which was my fave for a decade.

Various stuff from Black Phoenix Alchemy Labs. For summer my personal scents are Nyx (jasminy on me), Eve (smells like apples and roses to me) and Black Cat which is sort of minty but not, and in winter I like Antony (which is all leather and musk), and Spellbound which is very heady and alluring.

They make a LOT of different scents though so it’s always hard to settle on just one favourite. Eve is my over-all favourite but Nyx runs a close second.

Bath & Body sweet pea body mists. They smell like… well… sweet peas.

Boys smell good wearing Aqua di Gio (I’m not sure I spelled that right…). And Axe.

Vanderbilt, by Gloria Vanderbilt, it was a present from an old boyfriend. And like SnakesCatLady, I like Lauren too.

Ysatis by Givenchy is my favorite. It’s probably an old-lady scent, but I’m an old lady, so I don’t care. Plus it’s fun to ask for it at the perfume counter and watch the 20-something clerks go “Huh?”

I collect mini-perfumes, and I fell in love with one called Pavlova. The stopper on the bottle is a ballet dancer in that sitting on the floor-lean to the side and touch your toes pose.

Pavlova has a very clean, almost soapy scent. Trouble is, I can’t find it except in the mini size.

I love Red Door too! I think it is one of those perfumes that smells differently on different people, because there’s the usual Red Door scent, and then once in a while, I meet a woman wearing Red Door and it seems to smell extra good. I hope I’m one of them, people seem to comment on it more than any other perfume I wear. It sounds like you are too.

Other perfumes I like:
Chanel Coco
the classic Diors – Miss Dior, Diorissimo, plus I adore the packaging
Givenchy Amarige

I have very fond feelings about the original Bill Blass, but it’s my mom’s perfume and you know, I’m turning into her as it is so it’s too freaky to smell like her.

Anne Klein used to make a good one, Anne Klein II but as far as I know it’s discontinued. Man, I hate that. Karl Lagerfeld’s Sun Moon Stars was shilled as very nearly like Anne Klein II, and I guess it’s close but it’s not quite as good.

My favorite, favorite all-time fragrance is Versace L’Homme. I can sniff it out from quite a distance, it doesn’t seem to be extremely popular so it’s a treat when I spot it. Mr. Del doesn’t particularly care for it, which is annoying.

Patchouli oil.

Warm Vanilla Sugar body cream from Bath and Body Works. Combined with either Myrhh or Brown Sugar and Spice scented oils from Mystic Mountain Sage, and I smell heavenly. (Seriously, I’ve been told that.)

Though I do like Spellbound by Estee Lauder. And Vanilla Lace from Victoria’s Secret.

Nobody’s mentioned an Avon fragrance as a favorite. I loved Avon scents when I was a teenager. I babysat for an Avon lady’s kids. I’d try all the scents, and then wonder why she rolled down the car windows when she drove me home.

Now I can’t stand them, any of them. There’s no subtlety. Harsh, or something.

Would this be a good place for me to plug Olay’s in-shower moisturizer? That stuff works, and the scent is nice.

For perfume, I love a woman who wears Anaise Anaise (not sure of the spelling.)

I wear Jovan’s Musk. I wear it because I like the way it smells on me.

I love Angel, by Thierry Mugler. Can’t afford the real stuff, so I buy a cheap knockoff that smells mighty fine but doesn’t last long.

I love gardenia. There is nothing like a lotion/spray/etc that can come even sort of close to a real gardenia. The best I have found was sold for $3 at an ABC store in Hawaii. Love that stuff

And **PinkNailFile ** Aqua is my favorite male cologne and I have yet to find a man who it smells bad on. Emporio Aramni also smells great- I used to spray it on my pillow every night (I had a few free samples).

Pink Sugar. It’s sweet and candy-like but doesn’t smell childish or overpowering.

And as Idlewild said, Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab. I quite like the scent called Bordello - despite its name, it smells like an aloe vera shampoo that my grandmother used to buy for me, and thus brings back happy memories. I realise this description won’t help any of you, though, unless you knew me when I was a kid and you sniffed my head, but I’m not in the know about scent descriptions.

I like Chanel’s Chance on me. I like Tresor on other people. It always makes me feel like it’s Christmas for some reason. I also had a friend who wore the men’s version of Angel and it smelled so great on her, but on me it did not.

My favorite perfume is Aliage by Estee Lauder. It smells like new mown grass, not heavy or flowery. I fear it’s been discontinued because I haven’t seen it in department stores lately.

Love’s Baby Soft.

So what if I’m 37??

Until recently I was wearing Leap by Body Shop, I have some left but when that’s gone that is it. They don’t make it anymore.

I’ve been trying new perfumes though (a bonus to working in a department store, I get to know some of the cosmetics ladies and they give me samples of stuff I like if they have it). So now I like Sarah Jessica Parker’s Lovely and Escada Magnetism. Both work really nicely for me, so now I’m trying to decide which to buy.

I’m leaning towards Magnetism though.

I don’t really have an ‘everyday’ perfume. What perfume I use is my everyday one. To change it up though, sometimes I use Crazy from the Bottled Emotion line by Bonne Bell.

Sugar by Fresh…I’ve been wearing this one everyday. I get loads of compliments on it. It kind of makes you smell edible in a sexy, lemon cake kind of way - but it’s not cloying. (Visit the Fresh store in Manhatten…amazing!!)

Angel - by Thierry Mugler…I only put this on if I am in certain mood and prepared to be ravaged…it drives my husband wild

Ginger Essence - by Origins…Summery and clean. People have stopped me in public to ask what I’m wearing.

Aqua Motu - by Comptoir Sud Pacifique…I always wear this when I’m at the ocean. It’s the most unusual scent. Hard to describe. (I suppose it smells like the beach!)

I also love the smell of Joy by Jean Patou, but it’s my mom’s scent and isn’t really me. I appreciate it on her though…it’s lovely.
