Me?? I buy the king size on sale (has 4 peanut butter cups) and put them in the freezer. I only eat one cup per serving and love them straight out of the freezer. The chocolate has a crispy bite to it and for some reason, the peanut butter tastes stronger. At least that’s been my reaction since I was 9 years old.
I also occasionally will take one out of the freezer and dice it up (about 10 pieces out of a cup). Makes a great topping for Vanilla ice cream. Mmm, Mmm, Good! Don’t do it often because of my waistline.
I wouldn’t say Reece’s Peanut Butter Cups are my favorite candy in the world. That would be a Baby Ruth and Mounds is my 2nd favorite. But, Peanut Butter cups are a close 3rd in my life. What I eat depends on my mood at the time. They is all good!! I guarantee ya!
Off the shelf. I don’t eat many candies or candy bars, but I can’t stand them when they’re in the fridge or frozen. The chocolate gets a brittle, waxy texture to it that I don’t like.
Don’t eat them. Allergic to peanut butter.
My choice was Other - Chopped up in an ice cream sundae. Otherwise, the peanut butter is just too dry.
It’s not my favorite candy, so I don’t get it very often, but I don’t have a preference. Frozen can be just as good as melting.
As directed on the packaging: I let them melt all over my naked body as I lie in the sun, then try to lick myself clean before the squirrels catch a whiff.
I’ve been hospitalized twice.
Interesting that most people have responded refrigerator instead of freezer.
I can’t tell much difference whether a Reece’s has been in the fridge or freezer. They don’t particularly seem any colder or harder in the freezer. I’m sure they are a little colder if you checked with a thermometer.
Other candies with caramel (Snickers, Baby Ruth, Mars) would turn into a brick in the freezer. You’d break a tooth.
Has anyone ever noticed that if you close your eyes, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups taste almost exactly like halvah?
I keep the cups in the fridge, but don’t eat them straight out of the fridge. They are my post dinner dessert, but I take the cup out of the fridge just before dinner so that it has pretty much returned to room temperature by the time I eat it for dessert.
I thought the poll question would be in what manner you ate the cup… I eat almost all the way around the circle, then chomp the remainder.
I used to buy frozen Milkshake bars (similar to a Milky Way), complete with a popsicle stick shoved into them right through the wrapper, from my high school snack bar.
I… I haven’t even considered eating them cold. I will rectify this situation this evening.

Other: my favorite way to eat them is in miniature form. The mini Reese’s peanut butter cup is the worlds most perfect candy edging out the full sized by just a bit with it’s superior peanut butter to chocolate ratio. I prefer them room temp, but cold is good too.
I nibble off all around the outside “ridges”, then when those are gone, I devour the center in one glorious bite. (Imagine a chipmunk with puffed cheeks.)
For some reason I thought you said “Reese’s Pieces.” The best way to eat those is obviously to sit across the room from a friend, each of you armed with a large bowl of Reese’s Pieces, a blowgun, and an open mouth. Eating Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups that way would be ridiculous, though.
I am not averse to the chocolate/peanut butter flavor combo, but Reese’s peanut butter filling has always been about one step above Elmer’s Paste to me in texture and consistency (yes, I remember tasting Elmer’s Paste all the way back in 1st grade).
I’d rather buy a decent chocolate bar and dip it in a jar of (crunch, natch) peanut butter.
I hate when that happens.
Orally.
As long as the chocolate isn’t actually melting I’m fine with it. Don’t need it chilled.
Off the shelf, or out of the fridge. I don’t freeze them.
I don’t eat them often anymore, but as a youth I loved them right out of the freezer on a summer day after playing outside. As an adult, I still eat them frozen.
