Ours is Lionel Ritchies " Still," though there are a lot I identify with depending on what phase we were in.
“I Knew I Loved You” by Savage Garden. Corney as hell, but I like it. It was our first dance song at our wedding too.
Maybe it’s intuition
But some things you just don’t question
Like in your eyes, I see my future in an instant
And there it goes,
I think I found my best friend
I know that it might sound
More than a little crazy
But I believe
I knew I loved you before I met you
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I have been waiting all my life
There’s just no rhyme or reason
Only the sense of completion
And in your eyes, I see
The missing pieces I’m searching for
I think I’ve found my way home
I know that it might sound
More than a little crazy
But I believe
I knew I loved you before I met you
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I have been waiting all my life
A thousand angels dance around you
I am complete now that I’ve found you
I knew I loved you before I met you
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I have been waiting all my life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I have been waiting all my life
grow old with you - YouTube grow old with you by Adam Sandler
“What’s Love Got To Do With It?” - Tina Turner
We don’t have one. Come to think of it, I’ve never had a “song” with any of my previous SOs, either. I think I’m romantically challenged :D.
You’re my Star by the Stereophonics. Actually makes me well up when I hear it.
Highway to Hell by AC/DC. No point in creating false expectations.
Time Warp, from Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Don’t have one. I had to make something up for that part of the wedding reception.
Don’t worry baby and/or God only knows by the Beach Boys. I always request those songs at every wedding we go to so we can have a nice slow dance.
Some of these are really funny.
Some are really sweet, too.
Or alternatively the best sentiment in all of popular music:
What an awesome lyric:
When the night has come
And the land is dark
And the moon is the only light we’ll see
No I won’t be afraid, no I won’t be afraid
Just as long as you stand, stand by me
And darlin’, darlin’, stand by me, oh now now stand by me
Stand by me, stand by me
Dream Catch Me by Newton Faulkner.
Ha, I just sprung the question on my other half who failed to remember the name of the song or the artist, and described it as “the one with the bloke singing”. That sure narrowed it down!
Sunshine on My Shoulders.
He sang it to me in his funny off-key voice at dusk on Daytona Beach and I fell head over heels in love with him.
Unchained Melody. If we can ever get married, that’ll be our slow dance.
Groovy Kind of Love by the Mindbenders, or as performed by Robin Williams channeling Elmer Fudd
Making Love Out of Nothing at All by Air Supply.
Our wedding song was “Come Rain or Come Shine” done by Eric Clapton & B.B King, but I’m not sure I can call it our song, since I’d never heard it until we started planning the wedding.
The closest thing to “our song” is probably Weird Al’s “Yoda,” because it’s the first song my husband ever played for me, over Skype, while we were still long-distance and he was hoping to win me over. He tried to impress a girl with a Weird Al song. And he did. That’s us, in a nutshell.
“One More Minute” by Weird Al Yankovic. We even had it played at our daughter’s wedding. You should have heard some of the comments from the groom’s side of the family. Our side of the family understood.
I suppose it has to be “You and Me Song” by The Wannadies.
