Oh my! It’s almost twelve-thirty in the p.m. and it’s only 73 degrees Amurrkin! There’ll be an iceberg in the pool!
Actually it is quite nice out. I’m sneakin’ in a lunch time post before I go up to da Burg to spend the afternoon for irk. On the plus side, come four p.m. I’s through and possibly a little bit before then. So possibly yay for that.
Then there shall be a loverly pot roast with carrots and N.O.T. for dindin. I lurves me a good pot roast!
Ok, gonna go take a quick peek at a couple other things and then on to Da Burg!
Her Ladyship has been picking up The Kidlet from school on Wednesdays (when he’s got no afternoon classes) for lunch and to spend the afternoon at her house until his mother picks him up. She totally loves it but, being the total bitch she is (with my apologies to canids), plays the martyr card about how doing this means leaving lunch almost ready by the time she walks to the bus stop and how tired it leaves her and that it means being late for her Book Club meetings. This week The Other Grandma is in town, so SiL (who still can’t grasp the meaning of “the martyr card”: she uses it a lot too but in her case it’s not premeditated, she actually has a martyr complex) told Mom she wouldn’t have to pick The Kidlet up today, as T.O.G. would do it.
So Mom has said she won’t be picking him up any more. It does interfere with her Book Club, you see!
I am soooooo glad that I’m not living with her - partly because, right now, I’d have to sit on my hands to keep from smacking her from here to Toronto.
I came home to a puddle of water in the kitchen under the solar tube. Crap. I’m thinking maybe we should call the guys who installed the one in the bathroom and have them put that same one in the kitchen - it’s bigger and nicer than the one we installed. Gotta talk to **FCD **on that.
I reviewed my OPF today an I was amazed how many cash awards I got over the years - mostly my early years when $500 was a HUGE sum. Not that I’d sneeze at it today, but when you’re making under $30K with a new kid, $500 is major green. Anyway, it was a neat walk down memory lane, from my first engineering job to today. I think mine was the thickest file they had. No surprise there.
We de-flea’d all the critters but Ziva - she was being a major brat last night. So we’ll try again today. Stoopit cat. I’m also thinking we’ll go out for supper because I don’t feel like cooking. Actually, I don’t feel like eating - I had a sub for lunch and it’s sitting like a lump in my gut. ugh.
Boss is off for the rest of the week. Guess who he left in charge? I wish I knew how to make balloon animals - I’d fill his office with ‘em. Speaking of whom - you may recall that boss’ name is Al. Lisa made a wanted poster with his picture on it, and it says* “AL-SAMA Still at large!” *
You make me appreciate my mom all the much more too Nava. Og forbid lookin’ after a kid for a couple of hours once a week should ever interfere.
I’s home! I left outta da Burg at three thirty. I have the pot roast warmin’ up and went out and got my and my neighbor’s trash cans from the street. Hump day is also trash day.
I was considerin’ not goin’ to Evening Prayer tonight but OYKW called me just as I was leavin’ da Burg and wants to go, so I guess it shall be. Yeah, he could go without me but since I usually go, I reckon I should. Won’t kill me. Besides neither of us will be there Sunday. He’s leavin’ tomorrow for the wilds of West Alabammy to see his mom and make a long weekend of it. I’m goin’ up to mom’s on Sattidy and will go to church with her. Sis and I are also takin’ her out to lunch cause we’re the good ones.
Is that the new series about the colors? Back when the main library was closed for renovation I went to the north branch and checked out a lot of Fforde. Apparently all the librarians there are huge fans of his and they were telling me there was a new series about colors that came out last year. I haven’t read it yet.
It’s entirely too cold for May today. What’s with these frost warnings? Why are my tomato plants in the kitchen? It’s May.
Limey lame tissue? What’s that? The kind where when you blow your nose all you get is a big hole in the tissue and snot in your hand?
You don’t know what lame is? Turn in your card…
I feel sorry for the people across the street. They’re not having much luck with patio furniture this year. They had one of those fancy gazebo things with a canvas roof and sides, with a table and chairs inside. Then we had a storm about a month ago, and the whole thing was wadded up against a tree.
So, they leave the table and chairs naked for a bit, then they got a large umbrella.
Last night, another storm. Sure enough, the umbrella was snatched up by wind and tossed into the street. :smack: At least it didn’t hit any cars or windows.
tarra, I think the bookmarks are the Dope being all social. There’s allegedly a share button somewhere, but I haven’t seen it. Don’t know if I need to clear my cache to see it or if something in my browser is blocking it.
Sorry things are so crazy at work, Taters.
I got to play hooky from work today to go plant shopping (yes, it was the annual excursion). Also went and bought a new mower (of the motor-free variety; my lawn is down to the point where I really don’t need an electric one). And a few groceries at Trader Joe’s.
Now I’m just hanging out finding it hard to believe that the day is over. Off to knit for a while and then it’s off to sleepy-bye.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ YAWN 'Tis 43 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of only 79! Spring thinks it’s Fall! Run! Hide! It’s the Apocalypse! Or a slightly unusual cool front. Panic or remain calm as you wish.
OYKW is takin’ off this afternoon for the wilds of West Alabammy. He will not pass through areas of tornado damage as the ride takes him south of where that happened. It’s still one loooooooooooooooooong ride trhough central Alabammy. So, I will be a bachelor. However, I can’t get into much trouble bein’ as on Sattidy I’m headin’ up to ye olde hometowne.
gotti I ditched lame class. Don’t tell! Also I have one of those gazebo things out at the pool but it’s anchored down in concrete so I don’t worry about it takin’ off for Oz. The canvas top thing, however, likes to come loose and gettin’ it all back in place is a little trip through hell. It does provide a nice shady spot though so I reckon it’s worth the trouble.
Now I shall seek more caffiene and brekkie for rumbly tummy prior to irk purtification.
I went to the Offshore Technology Conference yesterday. It was pretty interesting, but I’ve been to so many over the years that it gets very repetitive. This time I attended a couple of seminars for a change.
Here, and it’s almost the weekend. Hugs, boos, smacks all round. Got to get kids dressed and ready for Outdoor Adventures because… gasp… it’s not raining! Glory be!
Caffienation is nearly complete and I’ve been going through my emails; deleting the junk and moving the others to appropriate folders. I receive too damn much email.
My son is pre-approved for his private student loan, but we haven’t signed it yet. We got the final numbers and interest rate yesterday and he went into into a little shock. He wants to talk to financial office at WSU tomorrow, and get their input. We have until 2 June to accept the terms of the offer. He’s the primary borrower and I’m the co-signer.
Well, I should hop to it and be productive here at work.
Off to get the book I have reserved at the library. It’s beautiful out and we’re getting fried feesh (which I have had a serious jones for) for supper! YAY!
It’s been a good temperature at work so I’m putting away my undershirts and dress jackets. I wish I had more fun shirts, besides Hawaiian ones.
I think I’m going to buy some more kimono stuff of ebay. I shouldn’t since I still have things I haven’t worn, but… The stuff I’ve stuck on my watch list equal about $80. And I want to go thrift store shopping this weekend for shirts (and maybe slacks if I go to one that has dressing rooms).
I’m trying to decide if I want to wear kimono to my parents’ black belt graduation tomorrow. My sister and the people she lives with are going to be there and I don’t want to talk to them about anything.
Swampy, you will be pleased to hear that lecturing is not required - grocery shopping has been done and TP has been acquired. I think 9 rolls should be enough to see me through to next Thursday, right?
It’s been pretty manic at work today, our office manager is still in a total flap about the end of session processing and has been asking for information that either isn’t relevant or has already been provided several times before. She’s starting to annoy me, and she’s meant to be in charge and all organised. The longer I spend in that office, the less I want to be associated with it. I can quite easily see why the students give the med school admin team such a bad press and I really don’t want my name attached to that.
It’s project deadline day for my students tomorrow so I will have a string of them coming in to deliver stuff. Bless 'em. I did a couple of hours of computer training today which was boring as a boring thing on a really boring day. I am compensating for this by playing some Suicidal Tendencies. We may be going to a festival in August just to see them 'cos 'im indoors wants to, so I’d better be prepared, right?
Other than that it’s a quiet night for me. Been grocery shopping so the fridge is full of good dieting stuff again and I have an hour before bedtime. What to do…oh, drink tea, of course.
