What Makes Your Week - a because-I-was-awake MMP

I have figured out one of my allergens! Thanks to a craving for fast food after a movie, a thread from someone with an allergy to strawberries and fast food companies now posting what’s in their food on the web, I’ve discovered that apparently I am allergic to mustard.

This past year in Seville, mustard has been a commonish part of my diet for the first time, since The Dietician Who Thinks She’s In Texas apparently believes it should be added to any dish with spices in it. So that explains why there were so many times I got clogged during meals… :smack:

I’ve got an appt with the allergologist on the 25th and will mention it, but I also plan on avoiding any mustard vinaigrette, honey-mustard sauces and suchlike. It shouldn’t be complicated, like I said I’d barely ever eaten mustard until last year.

Y’all have a nice weekend and all that, ok?

well, dinner was fun. I am now officially an officer of the chorus. I went right to bed when I got home at almost 11pm - and the coffee is now brewing - I think I won’t be quite as much the zombie as I told my supervisor I’d be today - although I may fall asleep at my desk around 3pm . . . TGIF

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ YAWN ‘Tis 58 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 83. Still on the coolish side for down heah this time of year but normal temps are returnin’ next week.

BooFae as a rule of thumb I say there should be at least one unopened twelvepack of tp on hand at all times, but I realize that may vary from country to country, so I suppose nine rolls should get ya through unless y’all eat some kinda explosive food durin’ the week. That’s why it’s a good idea to have the extra supply on standby. One never knows, now does one?

Nava if I were allergic to mustard, well, that is just unimaginable to me… I lurves me some mustard and mustard based sauces.

Since I am a bachelor, I went all wild and crazy last night. Why my haid did not hit the pillow until nine p.m.! That was after talkin’ to OYKW. He went into “town” (York, Alabammy. It’s a gas station and a grocery sto’.) so he’d have cell phone signal. When I say the wilds of West Alabammy I mean The Wilds!

Now I shall seek out more caffiene and brekkie cause tummy is givin’ me some very demandin’ rumblys right now. Then irk purtification must commence. I’m doin’ some self-study trainin’ for a couple of certifications I need. When I complete those I get to take a test. An open book test. Yeah, that’s hard!

Happy Firday Y’all!

Ah! Glorious Firday!

Nothing much to do today. Take the fuzzbucket to get a haircut. Take the old man to the bookstore. Take the other pups to the dogpark.

It’s nice and cool today, but tomorrow the influx of humididity returns, and summer will start up in earnest. That’s why we’re doing the dog park today.

Plus, tomorrow we’re attending a charity fundraising BBQ for that charity I volunteered for last month, A Simple Thread. It should be fun! I got a lot of stuff to donate.

Time for another cup of WTHU and starting to think about breakfast.

MWAH!

Howdy from irk! It’s kinda slow which is ok by me. As I mentioned earlier, I’m doin’ some self-study stuff and it’s all kinda yawny but easy enough. I mean, I already know a good bit of it but some review won’t kill me. Bore me to tears but won’t make me daid. Not daid is good, right?

Yay! Our new bed is here!

Best ten bucks I ever spent was to let them deliver it. Three guys made quick work of moving the old mattress to the garage and snaking a king-size mattress up the stairs with a 90-degree corner. Here and gone in under 15 minutes.

We probably would have spent 15 minutes in the parking lot just to tie the mega-mattress into the truck so as not to cause a springy speedbump on the freeway, followed by much cursing at each other as we tried to navigate the stairs.

Now we just need to paint the bedroom. What? You didn’t think we were going to put a nice new mattress and bed into the room with those tatty grubby beige walls?

First, yay for new bed! New beds be good. Second, of course I didn’t think you wouldn’t paint the room. I fully expect this to turn into a major remodeling project for the whole house. I can’t imagine it any other way!

Up and busy. Gnat’s away today so TomKitten and I are cleaning everything. Actually, right now he’s in bed and I’m eating lunch, but we’ve mopped and vacuumed and run laundry and I’m going to scrub things and make important phone calls and stuff.

Nachos are good.

Ok, the people I used to work for are officially morons.

There were school board elections last month, and the new power base is on a ‘save every penny even if we do stupid things’ kick.

They’re not replacing my position. The department director position in charge of a $12 million dollar budget, 175 employees, another 125 contracted employees, and the daily transportation of 12,000 kids every day? Over seen by an already over-worked lady in the finance department.

But wait, it get’s worse. My friend who was in charge of student services- we used to joke that on any given day the two of us essentially ran the place anyway - is leaving for another school district, and they’re not replacing her either! All crisis and emergency planning for 20 school buildings, district wide student discipline oversight (itself a F/T position in a lot of places), oversight of the special ed cooperative, central registration… All without a director/admin level person to run it.

It’s still morning out here on the left coast. Artwalk is tonight. I am going to set up a small display of soap at Wifey’s office so’s some of my regulars can get their soap for the month, so I need to get it organized today.

Dinner last night was roasted veg and eggplant parmesan, only we didn’t have any parmesan, so it was eggplant peccorino romano. But we got to use up the leftover very-veggie maranara sauce we made for the spaghetti squash the other night.
Why should you care? You shouldn’t. I’m just makin’ conversation here.

Yes, we’ve been kinda vegetarian lately, on accounta my gout has been acting up.

Lessee; yay for new beds and T.P., boo for stoopit bosses everywhere, and Nava, it’s still illegal to kill your mother, it’d set a bad precedent.

The dog is trying to drive me crazy. We cooked a ham last night for the Artwalk and Wifey cut most of it up this morning. The rest is sitting on the kitchen counter and His Royal Doggieness thinks it should be his and is trying to get me to get it down for him. Ain’t gonna happen.

Speaking of mustard, I’m sick of those people over at FoodTV putting dijon mustard in everything. I’m also sick of hearing about smoked paprika. i finally bought some to see what it was about. It’s not very good. It doesn’t taste, to me anyway, like peppers that have been smoked, dried, and ground. It tastes like regular paprika to which some chemicals have been added. I don’t like it. I’m also sick of seeing raw tuna. And coffee in chocolate. Putting coffe in your chocolate does NOT make it taste richer. If you want richer tasting chocolate, buy a better brand of chocolate! I’m looking at you here Ina Garten, if that’s really your name. :dubious:

Okay, that’s enough. Later.

Harrumph…I didn’t even get any coffee today because I’m out. I had to settle for a diet coke and that just doesn’t even come close to good, rich black coffee. No foo-fooing it up either.

It’s dark and cloudy here. Where is the sun, damn it?

CatDude, your former employers are idiots, but they sound just like every other school district.

Our school district is making a well-loved principal resign because, rather than hire a teacher, he taught a zero hour chemistry class, and he accompanied the school choir on a trip to San Francisco because they couldn’t get another chaperone. Og forbid he should save the school district money; the same school district that whines about money on a continuous basis. He was a teacher before he was a principal and has taught or led in this district for over 20 years.

I am debating whether to shower and dash off to the grocery store, or clean first and then shower and go to the store. I think I’ll clean, because otherwise I’ll just half-ass it when I get back due to my husband and son being home and getting in the way.

**CatDude **- sounds like you’re well rid of your former employer!

TGIF! Work was exceedingly boring. I wish some of those guys with stars on their shoulders would make a decision about our command so we can move forward with… anything!! I’ve pretty much decided I want to retire. But unless they give me the incentive check, I can’t afford to. So I’m stuck in a limbo of frustration. And it’s made worse by not having any projects assigned to me.

**FCD **and I are going to Red Robin for supper in a little while. I should probably start laundry, too.

Yep, it’s an exciting life I lead…

Haven’t read much, haven’t skimmed, rosie’s sig.

So Complicated Ex suddenly got a lot less complicated. He deleted me from his FB and LJ friends lists the other day. Good, that’s less of his crap I have to see. Once I get the word from him that my name is off the house (that’s all on him, btw, as he was the one who had to get the mortgage payments up to date) I will delete him from my phone and my email and he will be naught but a memory.

For the last two weeks work has suddenly gotten crazy about five minutes before New Lady and I leave on Fridays. I like this New Lady. I haven’t met Blonde Chick yet other than a passing hello/goodbye at shift change. New Lady gave me a ride home today and told me about how she got fired from her last job (got on the wrong side of a manager who let power go to her head). Now I’m just waiting for Culinary Boy to get home so we can get Computer Boy and pay us some rent. I got a surprise bonus in my check today, but it’s still rent week and that means real money comes next week. Ah, modern life.

Howdy Y’all! Still bein’ a well-behaved bachelor. Ok, I’ve had three beerverages (yeah, wild man!) and talked to OYKW. I also had smoked chikin and mac & cheese that I bought from the Burly Butcher store on my way to da cave. I didn’t wanna cook and I didn’t want a sammich, so that was dindin. Hey, if’n I am a bachelor I get to eat like one!

CatDude let me add to the be glad you’re rid of that place of irk chorus.

Taters I should lecture. Coffee is also sump’n one should never be out of. I cannot imagine that happenin’.

Spaz here’s hopin’ Complicated Ex is gone from your life for good soonest.

Bumba Ina Inna Gadda Da Vida is a loon!

Believe me, Swampy, I was shocked too. I thought I had another bag of beans in the freezer.

I never did make it to the store today. My daughter came by, and we hung out here talking and what-not, while she did her laundry. She just left for home. I’ve got an early dinner going because hubby was saying he was hungry.

How the heck did we get to Friday and we aren’t even on page 3?

Here, with a bad headache. I’m going to shred a crockpot full of chicken, put some dishes in the washer, and go to bed. Everyone sendsleep through the night vibes to Gnat, please- he hasn’t in about a week. He wakes up with nightmares and then throws mini-tantrums when we won’t stay in his room.

Blah. Anyway, it’s Friday, and tomorrow is Saturday, and that’s good.

Waiting for my sister the butthead to show up. My parents’ Black Belt graduation is tonight and I’ll be leaving for that in about 30 minutes.

Been goofing off with kimono. The bottom of this one is all stained along the bottom - it looks like someone dropped a cup of tea on it. I tried to do a modern sorta thing with it (kimono people generally call it ‘kimono-hime’ after the magazine that started the trend). I think there’s a steampunk sorta vibe to it - probably the rust and gold - and I’m considering trying to push that further.

This one I wore to the last night of my parents’ training, which I think I mentioned earlier this week when I did it.

Oh, and it looks like I’m going to get to take kimono lessons, which’ll be cool.

I’m glad this week is over. Co-worker got let go today - finally. I’m not glad she’s gone but I’m glad I’m no longer waiting for the axe to fall. I really hated knowing that she was going to be fired and not being able to say anything. I don’t like being in the middle like that. There’s lots more upheaval to come and I will find out the details on Monday. I’m not filing for unemployment tonight, so that’s positive, I guess.

I was quite ill Wednesday night and yesterday and my stomach’s not feeling so good tonight either. Blah.

At least I can relax this weekend. I don’t have to work or pack or anything, just relax. I might get the car detailed, since it’s kind of green right now from all the pollen, plus some industrious spiders built webs on the car while I was gone. Spider webs that don’t come off while driving!

I blame taxi’s absence for the slowdown, rosie.

I babysat for Local Best Friend’s kids tonight. They’re fun. The boy is 9 and girl is 3 and they’re fun to hang around with. We played one round of Candyland, one round of Memory and ran around playing tag for about 1/2 an hour.

Little girl was cranky going off to bed. She tried to tell me she couldn’t sleep in her bed, but I told her her Mommy had told me she could and was mean and made her sleep there. She woke up for a little bit when her brother went to bed, but managed to fall asleep again without too much fussing. I read for a bit and then fell asleep until the parents came home. They have a really comfy couch, I have to say.

Now I’m home, but getting sleepy again…

Happy Saturday, all!

Hugs.
