Hey y’all, I read but didn’t retain a thing. I have been a busy female this week, I bought a lot of containers for the deck, along with a butt load of potting soil and a fruitful trip to The Plant Farm. I need more pots, dirt and flowers, but at least I have gotten a start. It took both #3 daughter and I to lift the bags and dump the soil in the pots. We separated the flowers into groups, put some of the plants where they will be planted until the rain became serious and we were soaked. I have five David Austin roses, one Jackson & Perkins heirloom rose and one J&P hybrid tea just because they are pretty even if they have no scent. I found a mock orange and one of the cool twisty willows, and a star jasmine too. gee, do I sound just a little excited about this? So anyway, looking out the sliding door I see plants and this house is just a little closer to feeling like my home.
Other than that it has been life as usual. I still need to get my Washington state driver’s license, and we did get a ginormous cat tree; I also bought a gate to keep the dogs out of the living room and hall. I think of you FCM every time we haul out the carpet shampooer!
Happy Caturday! It’s raining over here and last night we had a few rumbles of thunder along with some lightning for entertainment. The cats are understandably unimpressed.
I have laundry on at the moment, can’t go out until it’s finished and I’ve distributed it around the bathroom to dry. This morning I had a look at my three pots of seeds and I now have a little bunch of beetroot seedlings! Woohoo!
Plans for today? Going to do errands in town later and probably meet up with a friend for coffee this afternoon. Tonight 'im indoors has decided we should check out a new Mexican restaurant that’s just opened - I will, of course, be testing the quality of the margaritas. What other yardstick is there for a good restaurant?!
Other than that, I predict a nice quiet weekend because I need one - got stuff happening every weekend until the middle of June now so I am going to need a rest to get prepared for it all. Pressures of my social life, and all that stuff.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ YAWN 'Tis 51 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 88. Normal weather returns.
Shadow sorry for all the work drama and upheaval. That’s never fun. Hope everything works out ok.
ShinyCat hope everything went well with your parents’ Black Belt graduation. I think the kimono is tres chic!
wiki yay for new plants and hopefully dog peeless hall and living room.
LiLi here’s hopin’ sleepage happened last night.
Ima get myself together shortly and head up to ye olde home towne to see mom. At least the weather’s nice.
Ok, I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy demands brekkie. Then I must commence purtification and pack. Packin’ won’t take long as it’s just overnight.
To all you Mumper Moms, Happy (Amurrkin) Mother’s Day!
Scruffy Must Die!! I had a terrible time falling asleep - it was close to 1 before I was out. Scruffy started barking just before 5. I took her out. Then she woke me again a little after 6. Then she woke me again just before 7. I gave up. I’m exhausted. I must kill her…
Daughter starts moving some of her stuff out today. **FCD **is not taking it well - in fact, he’s taking the whole thing personally. I just don’t know how to deal with it all. I’m not at all happy about the move - I think it’s a HUGE mistake on her part, but she’s 25 and entitled to make her dumb mistakes. It’s not illegal, just really dumb. He, on the other hand, is taking it as a personal rejection or something. I’m stuck in the middle. ugh.
Much laundry to be done today - in fact, I intend to do many indoor chores before mowing the rest of the yard. I’ve also got to water my garden since it didn’t rain last night. It’s gonna be a long day.
swampy, you’re a day early… altho FCD’s mom got her planter delivered yesterday. She called to thank him while we were driving to Red Robin. I have mixed feelings about sending planters - they last longer than cut flowers, but I’ve never known one to live more than a year unless you separate all the plants into their own pots. Oh well…
I want to go back to bed. Anyone want a stoopit dog before I drop kick her into the next county?? <yawn>
Happy Saturday morning all! I am all good to go for my second cataract surgery, thank og!
Sending good thoughts out to those who need them; FCM, you do the best you can do, but the kids just have to make their own way in the end, I think. I’m so sorry that you hubby is taking this personally, so I guess most of the good thoughts are headed his way (since you seem so sensible!). Uh and btw, please don’t aim Scruffy in the direction of PG County.
I am caffeinated, had a ham biscuit this morning too. Ooh boy, was that tasty! I think I’m going to see what I can find On-Demand to watch. Hope everyone enjoys their weekend.

I fully expect this to turn into a major remodeling project for the whole house. I can’t imagine it any other way!
[/QUOTE]
How are you at painting ceilings? I’ve got the rollers and brushes…
No remodeling though, since we rent the joint. Good thing, considering the quality of construction. I don’t think there’s one actually straight wall or 90-degree corner in the whole place. We were plotting out curtains last night, and realized that all of the windows in the bedroom are off center and at different heights. Guess that’s to be expected when they stamp out houses at the approximate rate of one week from foundation slab to finish trim.
It’s a beautiful sunny day here on the Guylindt. I will actually be venturing out for a bit. I just wish my back wasn’t all achy and pain-y. Enjoy your Caturday.
Mornin’ everyone. The coffee situation was rectified. My son was headed out last night to do some running around, so I gave him some cash and asked him to pick up a pound of beans for me. He did it, so almost everything is right with the world today.
It’s raining here. So sick of this crap.
Sending good thought to both you and FCD, FCM. I’m sorry he’s taking it personally too, but you gotta let kids stand and fall on their own sometimes. You know this, of course. Yes, I know it’s easier said than done.
I hope the **Li-Li **family got to sleep through the night last night.
I’ll have to go to the grocery store today. It won’t be until after we figure out what we’re making for tomorrow’s gathering, though.
Other than that, I don’t have any real plans, other than washing the kitchen floor and running the vacuum through the house. I may bust out the steam cleaner and do the downstairs, but I’ll have to see how much time I have left between all the other stuff I need to do around the house.
I Ffinished Fforde! ** (One of Our Thursdays is Missing)

Go get it, read it and thank me.
Waiting for the Kid. She’s dropping in for her friend’s bachelorette party. First, the three of us do our annual Mother’s Day visit to the zoo, then her and mom are off to the party. The bride to be is going to be her maid of honor this fall, they’re the bestest of BFF’s.
I’m off this afternoon to see Kinky Friedman. Looking forward to that, he’s a big favorite of mine, should be fun.
Hope work stuff works itself out soon and turns out well for you, Shadow.
STG: How’d things go? Pretty kimonos, by the way.
Yay for fun plant stuff, wiki! Don’t we really need to come up with a nick based on your current name? Riv? Dunno.
Yay for new mattresses, gotti! As usual, I’m offering chances to come over and help me paint.
Hope the Lissars slept well last night. By some miracle.
Sounds like a fun day, CatDude. (Oh and a leftover “good riddance” on the old employer in response to your post earlier in the week.)
I’ve been all busy this morning before the rain hits us again. Put new mower together and gave the lawn a go. It’s this fancy new reel (i.e. non-power) mower and is replacing my cordless electric as the amount of lawn I have has shrunk to very little and I HATE the thought of dealing with power anything when I can deal with simple mechanics. It was easy to put together and is very very easy to push. Doesn’t require much more effort than my previous mower. Yay! Doesn’t do weeds very well, but exposes them so that I can pull/kill/otherwise deal with them. Should result in a much nicer lawn for me eventually.
Am considering what to do next. I’m thinking maybe I’ll plant some of what I brought home on Wednesday, at least the ones that are going in the ground. And maybe edge some more. Big fun!
Breakfast was meh. I ran by the grocery for a few things and tossed the first load into the washer. I think I’ll start in the kitchen and see where that takes me. I just want to sleep…
Oh, and if any of you watched or are watching* Dead Like Me *on Netflix, don’t bother with the movie that they made “five years later” - it really sucks. None of the fun or charm of the series. I was really bummed after seeing it.
Happy Sunday, mumpers! It’s stopped raining now, we had a deluge last night but fortunately it didn’t really start heaving down until after we’d arrived at the restaurant so we got a table by the window and watched it rain - much better to do that from inside, with a margarita to hand.
The meal was fantastic, really enjoyed it, but the service was a little slow. Still, we didn’t have anywhere else to be so it was fine for us. Came home and made more margaritas, then watched a film so it was a very pleasant night all told.
No plans for today, 'im indoors is off back to Surrey tonight so I’m cooking early. No idea what to make yet but it will involve mince…therefore meatballs sounds like a good option at the moment.
to all the mothers out there. My daughter has fixed me the breakfast I asked for, my son already posted on Facebook a happy mother’s day to me–and I’m happy now.
The weather looks great so far, hope it stays this nice all day. Enjoy all!
Good morning, Happy Mother’s day if it applies, and happy Sunday otherwise.
Daughter managed to sideswipe our fence with our truck. Interestingly when she told me what she’d done, she made no offer to have it repaired. I’m starting to think she’s become just a wee bit spoiled or entitled. I told her she needed to get it to a body shop and talk to her insurance about whether it was more than her deductible. It’s not massive damage, but it did get down to the bare metal at one point, and I’m not having and almost-new truck rust out because of it.
I was thinking about mowing this morning, but there’s rain moving into the area. Oh well. I’ll be headed to my sister’s around 11 or so. I don’t really want to go, but I have some stuff for my mom and another sister and this is the easiest way to get it to them. It’s still a 90 minute drive, tho. I’ll just try to bail out of there as soon as I can.
**FCD **was going to futz on the boat again today - the rain may stop that. He managed not to hurt his back yesterday, but he did get a rope burn on one hand when he was either replacing the main halyard or furling the jib. That’ll teach him to wear his gloves… poor baby.
swampy, you invaded my dreams last night. Apparently I agreed to have a surrogate baby for you, and thanks to new technology, the fact that I no longer have a uterus wasn’t an issue. Unfortunately, it required me to fly somewhere, and while I was changing planes, Scruffy barked and woke me up. So no baby for swampy… sorry.
My son is up and showering because he has to go in to work until 11:15 or so. I need to finish some last minute tidying and call my mother to wish her a good Mother’s Day. I tried calling her Friday to invite her over, but she wasn’t home so I left a message. I didn’t hear from her, so I assume she’s at my sister’s place. That’s fine, although she’ll probably give me crap about not coming out to my sister’s place.
We can’t come out, we’ve got people coming here, so she’ll have to celebrate with my sister and her family.
It’s raining, yet again. I swear, I need to build an ark.
I think I’m going to enjoy an hour of peace or so, and finish my last minute tidying.
