What's For Dinner Tonight: Episode 2021 – A New Hope

Chicken parmigiana, spaghetti, tomato sauce, garlic bread, ice water, merlot.

We did a tour of Asia - egg rolls, pad thai, and naan.

Bison teriyaki steak grilled with a potato pack of sliced carrots, creamer potatoes, and spring chive with a hot pepper infused olive oil. Dessert was a raspberry pastry stick and a bourbon Manhattan.

Last night was pancakes. Tonight, I think, will be a hunk of pork.

If the weather holds, I’ll fire up the grill and cook the steak that is marinating in the fridge right now, along with some asparagus. Not sure what I’ll do if it starts raining.

Hope it stays clear where you are, it’s a beautiful day in western Pennsylvania.

Our grill is on a covered porch. Rain, shine, snow, I’m out there.

Tonight is Jerk Chicken with Mango Habanero sauce.

Pancakes (mostly plain, but the last one made with, as is the family custom here, chocolate chips), real maple syrup, bacon, orange juice

Tonight I polished off the rest of the lobster ravioli we had a few days ago, along with a slice of green tomato bread. I also made some brats simmered in beer, onions and caraway seeds - seared one on the grill for my husband to eat tonight and we’ll eat the rest in a day or two. Sauteed green beans and almonds to go with that. We also had the first peaches of the season (which is way early - they were juicy and good, but the cling type, which is a pain. I much prefer the freestone variety).

Spaghetti with homemade marinara sauce.

Braised beef and a salad with mixed greens, gorgonzola, blueberries, and balsamic vinaigrette.

Nope. Cheeseburgers with asiago.

I had a large lunch (for me) - grilled chicken sandwich with bacon, Swiss, and an avocado verde sauce with a side of fries.

So, dinner was a decent scoop of vanilla ice cream with hot fudge sauce.

Tonight was donairs with sweet sauce, cherry tomatoes, diced shallots, shredded old cheddar and a nice pinotage to wash it down. I pigged out and had two so no dessert for us. May have a dram of Laphroig after dinner settles.

Last night (technically, it’s after midnight here) we had Central Market vodka sauce dressed up with some mushrooms on pasta, with some french bread from Sprouts. Easy, and after a day of moving almost the last of our nearly 20 years of stuff (yeah, mostly garbage that will be recycled) from the old house and then stuffing myself with bread and pasta, I had a nice long nap.

Tonight, it’s a second round of the dandan noodles mentioned earlier in the thread. Hopefully we’ll make enough for me to have a few extra rounds of it on Monday/Tuesday for various meals. I’m already kind of salivating at the prospect.

Burger, eggplant in Szechuan sauce, and salad.

New York strip steaks cooked medium rare on the grill served with grilled sweet peppers and roasted butternut squash.

Baked chicken in a white wine sauce with rice, cold chopped veggie salad, hot popover, ice water, white wine, with coconut cake for dessert. My first dinner with friends (we’ve all been vaccinated) in over a year, which was great!

Carne Adovada, Rice, & Beans. No ice water.

Albuquerque Turkey, which is turkey breast cutlets marinated in a sweet ginger chili sauce, from our local turkey farm. Cooked on the grill with a bunch of sweet peppers and a side of air fryer green beans.

Everything was covered with minced Alliaria petiolata, aka garlic mustard weed, which is all over the one edge of our meadow. I’m making a pesto later.
