Hmm, the recipe my wife followed for her first stroganoff included some white wine. That may have been the part that made it better than any I had before it.
Last night, we splurged and ordered Gloria’s El Salvadorian/Tex-mex. I had their lechon asdado (basically a pork cut grilled and laid in adobo), she had the Gloria’s super special (non-takeout image):
We both woke up the next morning thinking about how wonderful dinner was the night before and wanting to talk about it.
Tonight was a “grab yourself something out of the freezer and heat it up” night. I picked a HEB Massaman Curry frozen dinner. I have no regrets, but I’m not going to wake up wanting to share fond recollections about dinner last night.
Thursday is a local brewery’s wing night. They smoke chicken wings, then deep fry them. I took an order home with me and was pleasantly surprised to see they included a wing without sauce for Rocco, our African Grey.
Takeout last night: grilled pita with cheddar cheese and bacon, and french fries and a pickle, washed down with ice water. Later, a mint chocolate chip shake.
Palak paneer made extra spicy. For some reason I thought Caucasians would go well with it. Turns out I was wrong. All the food&drink was devoured, but we kept saying how bad the pairing was.
Mrs M cooked an awesome korean pork with soy, pepper flakes, ginger, pear, brown sugar and mushrooms. Served on rice with a bed of spinach leaves.
It was awesome, I think it is called pullogi.
Definitely a keeper, the receipe was good as well.
I’m making rib-eye steaks tonight, with creamed spinach with feta. It’s not even 13 o’clock yet, but it seems later. I’ll probably start cooking at four.
Breakfast for dinner - Neese’s hot sausage, eggs (one with a double yolk!), clementines and blueberry pancakes I made from a new recipe, which includes whole wheat flour and oatmeal. So somewhat healthier than your average pancakes, and pretty tasty as well.
