Making seawood stew for dinner. I cleaned the litterbox earlier. How can a little cat poop so much?
Gordie’s 55lbs. He’s slowed down quite a bit in the last year or so, but he still loves food and barking at golf carts. ![]()

Awww, your Gordie isn’t much bigger than my Bailey. I’m glad he’s still doing well.
A pox on your neighbors doggio St Francis definitely wouldn’t approve.
I’m sorry about your friend bumba.
Your skillet sounds like it’s seasoned like the one that Mom gave me to start housekeeping with flyboy. You really could’ve gotten much grosser than slicker than snot though. My dad’s go-to is slicker than snot on a brass doorknob and a former band mate always used slicker than owl shit.
Knocked off irk ~2;30 for the first time in ages. Bought groceries, then took Nelson to the dog park. Most of the Low Rider Crew was there, as well as a couple of others and much fun was had by all. Supper was some brisket and a salad. Yum!
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Getting paid is always a good thing, shoe. Once, one of hub’s employers accused him of just doing the work for money. Hubs agreed with him. They parted company shortly thereafter.
UPS brought us a big box that was filled with brown crinkly paper! George has had a wonderful day playing with it. He runs on it to hear the noise, hides his toys under it so he can find them, hides himself so he can jump out at VBC (who never seems to notice the wagging tail sticking out from under the paper). George has had a very good day.
The weather has been strange enough that our tomatoes aren’t setting much fruit, but what we had with BBQ hamburgers were good.
Its raining again, lovely, beautiful, wonderful rain.
Mrs. L.A. was looking at cats at The NOAH Center. I said I loved Cleo’s black nose. Mi Esposa said, ‘She’ll be adopted.’ I said, ‘Yeah, “Do you have any ugly cats? We want an ugly cat!”’ She basically said that was the point: Adopt a cat that wouldn’t be adopted.
Hey, it worked with Tonka! ![]()
Not a bad idea. Give someone with lower odds of being scooped up a chance.
One reason DH and I have favored adopting adult cats. Everyone wants kittens.
Tonka loved you no matter how ugly you were! Good kitty!
And this is why I keep asking folks for kitten advice. Our last kitten was well over 30 years ago. All those folks who pass up wonderful adults for kittens must not like their sleep very much.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.
That was Alex Catt, as she was 2, and had a “bad shoulder”. Whcih only bothers her when the roommate says “no”, then she runs to me and holds up the bad leg as if to say “have pity on me, a poor crippled orphan” ![]()
Yeah. i’ve had him since he was 9 months old, so I’ve grown quite fond of him.
Sorry about your friend Bumba.
To keep with the trend, my dad’s favorite is ‘snot on a porcelain door knob’.
Translation please?
I hope you get more. The fire reports from the western U.S. are just as sobering as the flooding in Europe.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 72 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 95 and N.O.S. for the day. Sloth and quality cee-mint pond time shall be the majority of the day. JDDand Partner are comin’ over to hang at the cee-mint pond. We shall sup upon burgers 'n fixin’s, chips and watermelon.
Bumba sorry about your friend. I am sure the kielbasas were well received. Disgustingly unhealthy should always be well received.
Oopsie one should always have sallit with pizza. That way one can claim to be eatin’ healthy.
MOOOOOOM glad Higgs is better today, poor thing!
shoe yay for payday and keepin’ wolves at bay!
flyboy have fun bein’ chosen by a new feline overlord.
We have started watchin’ Downton Abbey on Netflix. Why have we not watched this already! Maggie Smith is a hoot and a half and the main reason to watch, at least so far.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah,
Happy Sattidy Y’all!
Happy Saturday! I hope we’re all doing well, and good, today. Things are ok around here.
It’s going to be a nice day, with no rain! Works for me. Maybe getting up to around 82*F, which is pretty nice! I can live with that.
I’m going to fold laundry/put it away, and I haven’t decided what else I’ll do. Probably the usual vacuuming, and washing up a few dishes. That’ll be easy enough.
I’m waiting for my friend to come pick up his Zucchini-Apple-Nut Bread, later. I’m not happy with it. It needs to be a bit sweeter. Good grief, it has 2 cups of sugar in it, as well as two fairly large apples. I’ll know better next time I make it.
Ok. I need to get more coffee. Have a good one!
I saw something that had been shared on FB - some woman posted in a neighborhood forum trying to get agreement that everyone should mow twice a WEEK!!! That definitely qualifies as bat-crap crazy! Besides not being good for the grass, who wants all that noise?? I’m thinking I’ll try to mow on Moanday since my ditch is getting shaggy again and the back yard is starting to resemble a meadow… ![]()
I’ve been there twice (Pompeii, not the exhibit) - it’s fascinating!! I’d go back in a heartbeat!
Yeah, because the rest of us do it for the personal fulfillment and the joy of helping someone else’s business succeed…
I’ve had several jobs I truly enjoyed, but not enough to do them for free, that’s for sure.
IMHO, she’s the only reason to watch. I sooooooo hated Mary - I had to quit watching so I never saw the whole series.
Higgs seems to be a bit peppier today - good sign for sure. I’ve tended to the critters and started the sprinkler on my veggie patch. In about an hour, I’ll turn it off and dump some water on the greenhouse 'maters. Then it’ll rain - just watch!!
When FCD drags himself out of bed, we’ll start our new workout routine - I’ll tread the mill while he pedals. Here’s hoping we can keep each other motivated. I haven’t been walking as much as I had been, tho I have kept active, so I think that counts some. My only other has-to-be-done-today is making the fillings for the deviled eggs - one will be bloody Mary style, one my usual recipe. there will be a dozen halves of each. I’ll mix it up today in zippy bags, and when we get to Mom’s, I’ll clip the corner of each bag and squeeze the fillings into the halves.
I may push the vacuum around also, and I have to bring the packaging from the bike out of the basement to the truck for disposal. But mostly, not a lot to do today. Heat advisory - it’s going to low 90s but will feel like low 100s (thanks, humidity!!) Maybe t-boomes this afternnoon. Indoor day for sure.
Happy Saturday, all!!
Morning all. Temperature is only supposed to reach 80F today, with 2/3 chance of rain. Nothing much on the agenda for today.
FCM, Mowage twice a week? Just what is she growing out there? And good for Higgs.
To all the cat lovers; good on ya for taking care of the grown-ups, but Unknown, George is a character, please keep us informed.
OK, need to check the weekly list and see what is on the menu for this morning’s repast. All y’all take care.
Happy Saturday!
I woke up too early, 430, and now I’m feeling it.
No park today, still no truck. It felt nice this morning when I put the dogs out, but I think it’s supposed to be hot later.
My neighbor picked up my son from irk, so he is home and the dogs are happy.
I already ordered pizza for lunch, waiting for dominoes to open and deliver it. We need to go to the grocery store, but we can stick it out until the truck gets back.
I never want a kitten. Too much irk, too much pain, too much destruction. Once Adam passes on there may not be another cat in the house. Ripple is a better at catching mice, and he kills them right away. Adam plays with them, wounds them, and then lets them escape to die in some unreachable place, which sticks up the house.
Today I’m going to finish going through everything to fill the Purple Heart bags. I haven’t gotten into the back closet yet, or my costume jewelry. There’s a few more things in the kitchen that need to go, but I need my son to get then down from the high shelves. I want him to get some books out for me too. I can’t reach them.
I suppose I should get busy. This stuff isn’t going to pack itself.
Just to be clear, Tonka was far from ugly. But he was middle-aged, had a truncated tail with a knobby bony bit at the end, had a couple of health problems, and had been in shelters a long time. Those were the issues that lessened his chances of being adopted.
There are two cat carriers in the living room.
unknown, George sounds like a hoot! I always loved watching cats play in boxes.
Yay for Higgs feeling a bit better!
May an ugly (JK, few cats are truly ugly) kitteh find you today flyboy.
Up, caffeinating, finishing breakfast, bed stripped, a load of towels and sheets in the dryer and fixing to do KP. We have a 70% chance of rain today (we left the dog park a little early yesterday because it was raining), but I’ll try to get Nelson to the park if there’s a break. Otherwise, I plan on some serious sloth to recover from last weekend’s travel.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
It’s 'ot. Too 'ot! The phone says it’s 28C/83F but feels like 85F. Yeah, right. I’ve been out there, feels like 150F to me! I was up early this morning when it was very slightly cooler, went to the gym and did bootcamp (outside) and spin (inside), then went home via the pet shop for cat food and litter, and the supermarket for diet cola and ginger beer (neither of which my usual supermarket had on Tuesday).
By the time I got home and unloaded everything from the car, I was absolutely dripping…cool bath and hairwash, then a half hour walk into town to get lunch from the Good Chinese Place, and do some errands and the half hour walk back home. After all that, I should be fit as a butcher’s dog!
Bumba sorry to hear about your friend, I hope the disgustingly unhealthy food was well received, and that he makes the most of the time he has left.
Mooom glad to hear Higgs is improving!
shoe yay for paycheques and getting the rent paid. And for keeping wolves at bay, but not our Wolfpup
flyboy there are some adorable kitties on that page, good luck getting chosen by the right one. Are you giving in and having a pair?
I’m still too hot. Off for another pint of cold water. I am still being a smug genius for buying a fridge with an inbuilt water dispensing device.
I’m sorry about your friend, Bumba.
I have many chores planned for the backyard today and will be starting them shortly.
Those chores pretty much make up the whole day. I tossed around the idea of a little retail therapy instead but decided on the chores. I think tomorrow I shall treat myself to a pedicure.
Not much going on in my little corner of the PNW. We haven’t had any rain, dumbasses are starting fires, and the arrival of the smoke season is in the news. So far, we’ve had some smoke high up, but it hasn’t been like last summer when the very air was dark with smoke, ash was falling, and we couldn’t keep our windows open.
FCD wanted to go out for breakfast, but I’d already eaten. I went along and had a piece of toast and some diet coke while he had pancakes and bacon. Then we went by a local crafter market and walked around a little bit, but FCD couldn’t handle a very long walk after his morning bike workout. Still, we found a new ice cream place that makes its own, so something yummy to try out some day (they weren’t open yet when we walked thru.
Since being home, I’ve hauled the box and packing materials from the bike to the truck, then I put away my cart. I vacuumed the basement, put Roxy’s assorted toys in the play area (those things to migrate!!) and I worked on 3 clay pieces, then cleaned the work area in my studio. For some reason, water with clay residue can smell like old cabbage - phew! - so I had to clean that and wash the sponge and shammy to de-stink them.
Next chore is the deviled eggs… in a little bit. I’m chilling for now. I was going to take the trash and recycling, but its HOT and it’ll be cooler next week - I’ll do it then, delicate flower that I am and all…
