What's noteworthy about your day in the MMP?

Abbey’s been hiding behind the couch. I gave her lots of pets, pulled the couch out a little, and was able to dig her out. I took her to a ride to the kitchen, and then back to the laundry room where the litter bot is. She explored around there, explored the bathroom (including getting into the tub), and then headed back to the living room and back behind the couch.

Because he knows in his supreme wisdom and perspicacity how adorable the two of them are napping together.

This takes thoughtfulness and kindness to a whole new level. I humbly bow to you.

Yeah, I do not haz a happy.

The cats are thrilled, though.

“Let us out!”
“Let us in!”
“Snuggles and skritches!”
“… maybe canned fud?”
“Let me out again!”

Abbey has had a tough day and needs some quiet time. Do you have a box she can sit in?

FCM you are so right about dishwashers being an inconvenience. Before the world ended, our water heater went out. I’ll take a couple of months handwashing dishes over 3 days with no hot water any time.

George is a big kitty, he was able to push the catio door flap open all by himself. VBK was annoyed seeing the brat in her fortress of solitude, but no hissy/spitty happened.

BBB, George is also a smart kitty and he knows who will spoil him more. While I have spray bottles handy for instant “Get George off the table” action, hubs thinks George is too young for that so gently picks George up and puts him on the floor. Half the time, George is back on the desk/table/counter before hubs turns back around.

Made me smile. Thanks!

You absolutely ROCK!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. 'Tis 73 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 93 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. The big plan of the day is deheathenization followed by N.O,L. at Sonny’s BBQ. Outside of that sloth shall ensue. Not sure about quality cee-mint pond time as I overdid it a little bit yestiddy.

Flyboy congrats on bein’ adopted by Abbey!

shoe hope the bbq joint opens up again real soon so you can keep the N.O.W. at bay.

I read all but retained little, so yays, boos, hugs, thouts, chitlins, noogies, and how you doin’s all around as needed,

Now I need more cafeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

One of those nights… I finished my book a bit before midnight (can’t leave the murderer uncaught overnight!!) and I played a couple of tablet games to unwind for sleep. Then I was up around 3. Dammit. Could not fall back to sleep…

So I’ve tended the critters, including cleaning up overnight hork (on the tile, fortunately) and I had my breakfast. I’m caffeinating prior to hitting the shower. We’ll leave in 2 anna half hours or so. I’m glad FCD wants to drive, because I don’t. I may fall asleep!!

We’ll pack our swimsuits just in case, but I’m not sure I’ll get in the pool. It’s only supposed to be in the low 80s, but I’m sure the water will be really warm considering recent weather. I’ll be prepared either way. So onward into the day!

Happy Sunday!!

Yesterday afternoon we bugged out a little early and went to ugh, Starbucks again. Mom needed my help getting out of the restaurant; she was suffering from a lot of back pain. We went to a church “picnic” in the Fellowship Hall at 5; it’s the first meal we’ve shared together as a church since the pandemic. BBQ pulled pork, coleslaw, beans, apple pie, and sweet tea. It was delicious.

We went home, watched a little bit of the ball game, and I put Loki and Zenimation up on the big screen in the big house.

Happy Sunday!

We had thunderboomers last night.
It’s a wet and cloudy 70 degrees outside.

I was lazy this morning, I slept until 8am.

I was going to do laundry today, but my son has his clothes sitting next to the washer. Since he needs clean clothes for irk, and I don’t, he gets priority.

The seat covers are clean and ready to go back into the truck tomorrow. Such a joy putting them back on.

Today’s big chore is getting all the donation bags downstairs and lined up by the door so they can go out tomorrow morning. I’ll need to move my chair on the porch because there is a warning not to leave the bags near anything you don’t want to go. I’d hate for them to think my chair is part of the donation.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. I shall clean, and perhaps pour boiling acid and lava onbathe Gordie. Also, i’m starting to get banner ads for these guys : shakes fist at Amish Biker section of Heaven :

Afternoon, mumpers! It’ s far too hot for me, I’m a delicate English flower! Currently 29C/84F - I put some dye on my hair this morning, washed it off and decided to let it dry naturally as it is far too hot to run the hairdryer. So I vacuumed the floors instead, did a load of laundry and have just hung that up to dry. Now I am a hot, sticky, drippy mess.

I have no other plans for today apart from making chilli for dinner tonight, and having a lazy afternoon on the sofa in front of the fan. The cats are flopped around the house, too hot to do much, and possibly regretting the fact that they’ve got fur coats on.

flyboy hope Abbey had a good first day with you and comes out of hiding!

shoe sorry to hear about the work woes, I would not have a happy either.

The neighbours have a pop-up pool in their garden, the teenage kids are making a lot of noise and playing some absolute shite music. Must resist the temptation to put some Motorhead on and crank up the volume.

Morning, all! It’s a little before 10:00am ET here in lovely Northern Virginia USA.

Yesterday’s “severe storms with high winds and flash flooding” never materialized. When I posted that it had gotten a little dark and windy outside, that was the worst it got – and that cleared in less than an hour. {sigh} The doggy came out of the bathroom around 4:30, and the rest of the evening/night passed without incident.

I seem to be hooked on a British docuseries called Ambulance (I’m nearly done with the third season), but last night I took a break from it and watched a 2018 documentary called Generation Wealth about “the pathologies that have created the richest society the world has ever seen.” It was more compelling/entertaining than I expected, but it didn’t really say anything. One guy kept claiming that society’s obsession with wealth and power signal the impending collapse of our civilization, but otherwise no one really had any insights or conclusions (however dubious).

Today should be nice-ish, with a forecasted high of only 83 F. Other than sending an email related to my volunteer gig and picking a new NYC hotel*, I plan to do quite a bit of nothing today. Which will almost definitely include watching more episodes of Ambulance, and finishing the leftover pizza. But tonight I’ll be taking my best friends and their 19-year-old son – my “nephew” – out to dinner, and I’m looking forward to that. We’ll be trying out a new Japanese steakhouse.

*Last night I remembered that I’m a Hilton Honors member! It’s been so long since I’ve done any traveling that it had completed slipped my mind. Since I’m no longer choosing a hotel based on its specific location, I may as well get some points. That will help narrow things down. All I should need to do today is pick the nicest hotel that I’m willing to pay for.

I love/hate when that happens!

Yesterday morning my neighbor set up an inflatable wading pool and turned up the music…but it was the middle-aged dad, not the kids. The room where my computer is has a window that faces their yard: from inside I could tell that music was playing, but it wasn’t loud enough for me to hear what kind it was. I couldn’t hear anything once I moved to the living room and turned the TV on.

Good morning!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and the bathmat that was absolutely dripping (too thick to wring out yesterday so I hung it over the shower bar to lose some water weight) yesterday is now in the dryer. Not a whole lot slated for the day.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Do the British not have popsicles? Frozen icy fruity (or “fruit” flavored) treats, that are nice and cold?

Ye gods, I hate summer. Every Michigander is all, “Oh noes, winter!” but after decades in the molten pool of lava that is Texas, I welcome snow and ice. Learned quickly how to penguin-walk so I didn’t slip (1.5 winters in Michigan and I have not fallen yet!) and I’m just waiting for the damn sun to stop baking us for 20 hours/day.

I think they call them ice lollies.

It started to rain on our walk, so I carried the old man the last hundred yards, so I didn’t have to spend 20min in the rain.

Good morning. I allowed myself to stay in bed until sixish, but I am already kicking myself for having done it.

I need to do laundry and some other assorted chores and I may slip away for a pedicure.

I finally got Polar set for an appointment, but it’s not until the 25th unless they get a cancellation. It’ll be a day admission thing since they’re still working him in among other appointments, but I’m glad I have something. They’re going to do x-rays because of his hind leg and probably some blood work because of his appetite issues and slimy stool. I am worried because getting him to eat anything is a real chore. He’s turned up his nose at steak! Yesterday I gave him freshly prepared chicken, rice and bone broth and he turned up his nose at that. No amount of coaxing would get him to eat it. He did eat a couple of over easy eggs and breakfast sausage later, but who knows what today will bring.

Also, his anxiety when I depart keeps ramping up. I had to go pick up his Rimadyl yesterday, and my husband said he was pacing and then ran outside where he was obviously snorting under the fence to find me. His whole snout was covered in dirt when I returned. He’s gonna have a bad day tomorrow because I have to go to the office.

The kids are going to drop off the grandkids next Sunday so they can have a few hours to celebrate their wedding anniversary. It would be easier on them to go up there, but Polar would lose his ever lovin’ mind if we left him alone. We never had to worry about this before; I NEED to find him a friend.

Welp, gotta finish the coffee and get the sprinkler going in the backyard.

She’s still being a bit hidey, though she did come out from under ‘mom’s’ bed when I got on the floor. She’s eating, and using the litter box. I picked her up and brought her into the kitchen where Goo was waiting. I put her on the floor and they hissed at each other before retreating to their separate safe places.

Goo has always loved mouse-onna-string, but she’s only playing half-heartedly now. Other than that, she’s behaving normally. She doesn’t really seem to care there’s another cat in the house (other than losing interest in mouse-onna-string), but then they don’t see each other.
