What's noteworthy about your day in the MMP?

Ha. That’s what I suspected your answer might be. Like I said, I keep getting distracted and the pattern I’m working has a ton of cabling, which I love doing, but takes for freaking ever. Plus, I’ve switched the yarn out a couple of times (first yarn was the right weight, but too scratchy; the newer yarn was way softer but a little finer weight, so takes longer).

Had a ZooMeeting at noon. It didn’t really apply to me since it was about Consumer credit, but since El Jefe was one of the presenters I thought it would be good to have my name on the attendee list.

I had to go to Rite-Aid and the supermarket. I figured I could be out and back before Mi Esposa got home, so I drove the MG. Got home, and there was her car in the driveway. So after bringing in the stuff I had to move the MG to the street, move her car to the other side of the street, back in the MG into the canopy garage, and move her car back into the driveway. Turns out she only had one patient today.

Now back to Commercial credit…

As I was doing the dishes, I saw Higgs in the mouth of the black lab from next door - scared the crap out of me!! I ran out there and yelled - I don’t think the lab was attacking her - I think she just plays rough. But I also heard Ben calling his dog. Higgs seems to be OK, if shaken (No, not a joke…) but she’s reluctant to approach either of us. I may have to try tempting her with a cookie. Poor pup.

It’s thundering and we’re promised rain, but I think it’s a fast-moving storm and I’ll have to water my garden tomorrow anyway. If it doesn’t rain at least 30 minutes, I’ll definitely be dragging the sprinkler out.

So, yeah, excitement here…

Squeeeee!

I’m interested. Maybe a water pipeline would be more useful to this country than an oil one…

I remember those days at work. I don’t miss them at all.

That’s scary! I’m glad she’s ok.

I have acquired a new automatic letterbox, so their furry majesties will have a choice of which depository to use. It’s all set up and we’ll see if they use it.

Hubby just had a mini-meltdown because we’re out of propane and he wants to BBQ some hot dogs for lunch. Send me strength.

He should try having the propane give out while cooking Thanksgiving dinner. In a mobile home with a kitchen that ONLY runs on propane. Happened to my family one year. One of ex-stepfather’s few competent or useful moments came when he found an open source for more (not the easiest feat in a rural small town on a major holiday).

Home, showered, snacking on some okra and a lil’ bitty brisket slider from irk - it’s hot, tiring work; there have to be some perks to working at a BBQ joint, amirite?

Nikki puked on a blanket, and my mother brought me new towels, so there’s a load of laundry in the wash - mustn’t forget to move them to the dryer soon.

Working one of my cross-stitch hoops - I am determined to finally finish this yellow band, so I can move on to green.

Welcome aboard unknown!

Welcome back ace!

Glad you had a good time in Vegas silenus.

Yay on the new kitteh flyboy!

Poor Higgs. I’m glad she wasn’t physically hurt Mooooooom.

Yanno, had they been needed, we could’ve come up with shoe meeting FCD somewhere in Ohio when the crimes went down.

Irked, came home, paid bills, planned next week’s menu and made a grocery list. After KP, I’ll chill in the studio.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

My mother had a GI appointment today on the other side of the river, which I went with her to. While we were in town, we hit up our favorite breakfast joint. Mom always brings home half a dozen sweet potato biscuits from them, and they’re usually gone in a day or two.

Mom’s been having terrible GI problems lately, and she thinks it may be lactose intolerance. If that’s the case, she’s gonna miss my mac and cheese, which I’ve finally managed to get right in the Instant Pot on a consistent basis.

We live in a trailer, and the wind chill is about 95 Amerrikin at home right now. The AC can’t keep up at those temperatures, so we’re hanging out at Starbucks until the sun goes down. I’m roleplaying in my IRC game until then. I caught up on Loki while I was still at home, and watched Monsters at Work a short time ago.

Howdy Y’all! We layed in provisions, I took care of church janitor Junior Warden stuff, sloth and nappage got accomplished, sup got fixed and et and the kitchen got cleanded up. All in all a productive day. Well, for us!

MOOOOOOM glad Higgs is OK, poor baby! She deserves lots of cookies.

Flyboy yay for impendin’ sib for Goo!

I think shoe and FCD should have struck our for West Virginia had the need been to do so. Nobody could find you in the West Virginia mountains!

Hasn’t happened yet!

FWIW, Mrs. L.A. wants Abbey. I can’t spell her name that way, so I’ll spell it ‘Abby’. If she’s unavailable Saturday, she wants Noah (who is also female).

NB: Links are invalid after adoption.

They are both lovely kitties. Fingers crossed for a new friend this weekend.

It looks like it wans to storm, but so far nothing. Having a Sazarac.

Glad Higgs is OK, if staken up a bit.

If it’s not a good Bastille Day, heads will roll!

[Igor]Abby…Normal?[/Igor]
But finges crossed.

Ouch, Flipper. Glad you have somewhre to ride out the heat.

I had every intention of getting dinner from McDonald’s (which I pass on the way home from doggy daycare). The line at the drive-through was kind of long, but I went ahead and joined it. Then the line didn’t move. At all. For several minutes. Luckily, no one had pulled in behind me: I backed out, and headed home. So instead of a cheeseless Quarter Pounder, small fries, and an apple fritter, I just had two turkey wraps and some mandarin oranges. Dessert will be sugar-free pudding. I can’t tell if the universe loves me or hates me…

Sending good kitty vibes to Johnny_L.A and his missus! :smiley_cat:

:joy:

That’s the first thing I said when she mentioned her.

Flyboy, obviously you need to adopt both of them…cute kitties. And looked at that sailing adventure and whoops…another thing to add to the bucket list…

{{FCM}}, hugs are for Higgs, must have been a terrifying experience, even if the Lab has never done that before. Cookies are definitely prescribed.

flipper, Hope mom is doing better. And 95F is too hot for anybody. Take care.

Dicey, sounds like you and your colleagues liked your line manager, wonder why the powers-that-be sacked him…hope it works out.

Not much to report from Casa Rat, garbage is out tonight (even if it’s less than 30% of the can) since I won’t be here next week and dishwasher is loaded for a workout tomorrow. Thorsday will also be laundry day, at least 4 loads and maybe more.

Been figuring out my travel plans next week, I have two ‘package’ tours in Miami, but neither one picks up from my hotel. For one I’ll just use the city bus service and the other either a taxi (only 4 miles) or a combination of hotel shuttles. Creativity is needed when you don’t have a car or a phone to call Uber.

OK, back to soccer planning. All y’all take care.

It’s Mrs. L.A.'s job to clean the litter boxes. She says ‘Two cats maximum.’ So we can only get one. We’re hoping she’s not a climber, as we don’t want another Creamsicle climbing up on the roof and taunting us. (‘She’ being that new cat, not Mrs. L.A.)

We try to go every year or two. Lady Washington sails all along the Pacific Coast, from Blaine to San Diego.

I was about to suggest adopting both kitties as well, but I get it. We had 3 years ago and it was a lot of work. Now that we live in a smaller place, the 2 max rule makes sense.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave,

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. Was in bed by eight-thirty last night and slept well, so up early this mornin’. ‘Tis 73 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 92 and maybe rain. Or not. We shall achieve mowage this mornin’. We must. We are in danger of bein’ the worst lookin’ yahd in da 'hood. Just can’t have that! Second worst is fine by me, however. Perhaps there will also be some quality cee-mint pond time. Sup shall be leftovers from last night’s sup.

flipper hope mom is feelin’ better soonest.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Turns out she was hurt more than we thought last night - this morning we found two small punctures - one on her back and one on her side. They weren’t deep and she didn’t yelp as we cleaned them, so we’re pretty sure they’re superficial. But we’re also pretty sure she’s achy. I just gave her a low-dose aspirin wrapped in cheese. I hope that helps her pain.

She’s not her usual self, but she’s not doing anything that really worries us. I’m pretty sure it’s just some pain and maybe a bit of freak-out. After all these years of barking at the dog next door, she found out that bigger dog is more of a threat than she thought. Anyway, today I’ll check the fence and try to figure out where the neighbor got thru. I wonder if another tree or branch fell on it. Dammit.

Oh yeah, like Mr. Bad Knees/Bad Back could manage mountains!!

Here’s another option to consider. We did this in 2010 when Ladonna was still called Nathaniel Bowditch - I wouldn’t have recommended it then, since the owner/captain was a total whackjob and the schooner was, um, something… But in spite of the vessel we chose, it was a really neat vacation overall.

Today, I go with my daughter to talk to the folk(s) at the Montessori school near her. We need to get Roxy into something structured with kids her age. This is way more expensive than I’d hoped but we’ll see how it goes. Apart from that, not sure what else I’ll do today. I think there was enough rain that I don’t need to water, but I noticed one of my veggie cages was knocked over - I’ll need to set that right.

And, like a dummy, I left the garage open all night. I opened the door after the rain to let it cool down, then forgot I’d done that. Fortunately, we live in a fairly remote, very safe area. No evidence that any critters got in and tore into the dog food, so that’s good. But I need to add “check the garage door” to my pre-bedtime list.

Happy Thursday!
