I’m in season 2 - and *oooooooo *do I hate George!!!
Saturday night, raining, cat on my lap, watching Line of Duty. Life is good.
Howdy Y’all! We accomplished mowage, showered, went and had burgers (well, OYKW had a burger and I had a patty melt) and beers at the bar down the street, and achieved nappage. We decided against the cee-mint pond cause ‘twas HAWT out and we wanted to be cool in da cave. Sup was sammiches and chips and I made a gallon each of sweet and unsweet tea, and put together a baked ziti for first Sunday brunch tomorrow. Tomorrow mornin’ I will add cheese to the top of the ziti and meat sauce and bake it up. It’ll stay warm in the convection oven over to the church house until eatin’ time.
Is Poldark a Netflix thing? We’ve been watchin’ Rectify on Netflix and really gettin’ into it, cause 'tis so good!
I used to know a girl named Poldark.
Red I wish we were close enough for the pups to play together. Buddy demands constant attention and playing. He rarely ever just lies down. He is a lot of fun but exhausting. Hopefully one day he will settle down a bit.
I am watching an old movie Taxi Driver. I don’t know how I never saw it. It was on a list of the 100 best movies of all time. Robert DeNiro as a mid 20’s handsome young man.
Swampy *Poldark * is an Amazon Prime show. I think there is a total of 5 seasons. Excellent. Aidan Turner as Ross Poldark is a treat just to look at.
Yeah, Ross is some serious eye candy. Yum!
The surgeon ain’t too shabby either.
And I’ve never see Taxi Driver, tho I expect I will eventually. I finally got around to watching Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf not too long ago.
Another cool night ahead, so I’m closing the windows a bit, but not all the way. Lovin’ the fresh air!!!
I’m ready to close the windows and turn on the heat. Even my toes are cold.
I don’t know what is up with Ripple tonight, he is clinging to me.
Butters, this is when having two dogs is better than one. They entertain each other.
Evening all. Soccer was accomplished (boys won, girls lost) and I refereed a game at 2pm when it was the hottest (we took a couple extra water breaks, more for me than the kids). Nappage was then accomplished, followed by a dinner of a Big Bowl o’Sallit. Golden Corral is on the list for my Sunday dining out.
Don’t watch netflix or any of the other services, but did catch one of my all-time favorite episodes of MASH* (the one in which they dream-if you know MASH, you’ll know what I am talking about).
Tomorrow will be sloth day.
butters, is there a dog park on your key? If so, once Buddy has all of his puppy shots, it may be worth a try to take him for some playtime with other pupperoos.
The non-fire was a good time. We ate, had a good hootenanny and Nelson got to hang with some of his doggy peeps. He hadn’t seen Max, Tiffany or Jack for a while and there was a dachshund there who was a noob that he got on well with. Even some of my social life involves dogs.
Because it was dark and there wasn’t a bonfire for light, both Nelson and Maggie (the dachshund) got a glowstick ring around their necks so that people would be aware of where they were and not trip over them or step on a paw. They looked like they were hanging out at Bonnaroo.
Blessed rain and cloudy skies and a lovely 80°F high today in SE Jawja, and it’s a pretty good day. We have a lawn service now, because I did the math, and it’s cheaper to hire my dudes to do the yard than just the cost of owning and operating a lawn mower, much less my time and sunscreen and pizza delivery after I’ve spent the day courting heatstroke and sun poisoning. So the grass was cut Friday, and I’m not sunburnt and exhausted. (Plus, the same guys do the neighbors’, on the same schedule, so our yards remain equally nice/scraggly.)
Spent the evening with my parents. My mom had leftovers to get rid of, and my dad wanted company because college football is more fun to watch if there’s someone else to yell at the TeeVee with him, and I didn’t want to cook and felt like yelling, so it was a good night. (My team won. The officiating was awful. I talked smack with my dad, which he enjoys. And my mom was able to attend a funeral visitation and go shopping without having to worry about leaving my dad alone. He’s mostly blind, and needs some tending.)
Good news and bad in my pet department: Hubby’s dog escaped the fence Thursday evening, and caught one of the front yard kitties. Poor little Dot escaped from Oreo, but went to ground. I’ve been searching everywhere, but it’s hard to find a black cat who wants to hide. He showed up for dinner today and seems to be okay. I haven’t been able to get near Dot yet, but it appears that his injuries are superficial. And I think I have found a home for the dog. (Oreo the dog was living out of trash cans before hubby brought him home, so I assume he had to compete with a few cats during that span. And he’s not a bad dog. But the cats were here first, and I didn’t tame feral kittens just so they could be terrorized in the place they feel safe.)
Rosie’s signature to all, and to all a good night!
Happy Sunday?
I had to check, my internal clock and calendar are all out of whack.
It’s not good to be out of whack, I don’t know how one acquires more whack.
I was up at 5 am, of course. I could sleep in now since we are meeting at the park at 8, but once awake I am awake.
Not going to be so cold today, it’s already 57 and going to go up to 72.
Lots to do today, but I’ll get a mess of it done before going to the park. Then when I come home I have to get cleaned up to go to the viewing. I’ll pick up my mother and take her with me.
I’ll finish laundry this morning. Trash goes out today, and since my son forgot to take it out last week, and I did a bunch of yard irk, and the neighbor doesn’t want my cardboard for his fire pit, there is more than usual to go out. I already move the yard waste bags from the back yard to the front porch. Then I have enough big stuff that wouldn’t fit in bags to make several trips to the dump. Since the neighbor no longer wants it for his fire pit.
They are talking about moving again. Supposedly the landlord is going to sell the house. She is making their lives a bit miserable since her uncle moved into the downstairs apartment, she is over there a lot more often. I think she may have told them no more fire pit. She also made them get rid of their cat, but they brought it back since they have to move anyway. Like he says, what is she going to do, evict him? Hard feelings were created too because the uncle has a dog, and the landlord over there was always adamant about NO DOGS.
Not my drama though, I just wish it was the big-mouthed buffoon and screeching banshee across the street that were moving.
Red - my dog is my social life. How sad is that?
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 75 Amurrkin out and mostly cloudy (well, dark, but I’ll take TWPTB’s word that it’s cloudy) with a predicted high of 89 (BRRR!) and mostly cloudy for the day. TWPTB also say there is a slight chance of a stray tstorm/apocalypse this afternoon. We shall see. Today’s plans call for deheathenization (I have ush duty), followed by First Sunday brunch, which is actually N.O.L., but I’ll go with the it’s Sunday so anything before two p.m. is brunch rule. Also there will be a Blessin’ of The Animals at four p.m. in the dawg park at the church house. We have no critters, so we won’t attend.
I’ve been thinkin’ about tryin’ out Amazon Prime, so maybe Poldark will be my motivation to do so.
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.
Happy Sunday Y’all!
Daughter and I split the Prime fee, and when I want to order anything, she does it since the account is in her name… which reminds me, I have an order for her.
Anyway, we decided to go to Bob’s for breakfast today since we both have been wanting omelettes and CB doesn’t do them. I just need for **FCD **to get his butt in gear.
I’m hoping to run the carpet cleaner over the traffic areas today, especially with Roxy at her other grandmother’s, I don’t have to worry about her on the damp carpet. I also plan to make some gołumbki (I’m pretty sure that’s the correct Polish spelling)today for tomorrow’s supper. It’s always better when it has a day to sit. (And for those who are confused, that’s stuffed cabbage.)
I expect **FCD **will watch some football, and I think the Nationals are playing this evening, too. So it should be a relatively chill day.
Happy Sunday!
It’s been a while since I’ve made that. Since I don’t put anything into the oven during the summer months, it’s likely been March or April. When I go up north for Thanksgiving, I will make some for Dad and freeze a bunch in individual servings. That and pierogis. ![]()
It’s too bad that Oreo didn’t work out for your family peaches. I hope she does better in her new home.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasting and getting ready to stir fry some cashew cabbage for the potluck after heathenization. I did the prep work for the vegetation yesterday, so it won’t take long. Then it’s shower, load the car (I think I’ll probably dress in between
) and head towards Nashville.
Morning all. Brain woke me up at 5am…Body procedded to sucker-punch brain and stayed in bed until 7:30am.
peaches, hope Oreo is going somewhere that doesn’t have cats. Glad he’s getting a home (besides yours).
Sari, I need to dump my recycleables today–they’re piling up inside and in my car, pickup is only once a month now.
Apparently just thinking about watering my yard works now, got rain last night and more is expected this evening and Moanday. Even better, high today is 85F and Moanday’s high is only predicted to be 67F. Could it be that Fall has finally arrived?
Sustenance will be a trip to the Golden Corral, but might find something to nosh on before that.
All y’all have a good Sunday.
Afternoon all!
I’ve not watched ‘Poldark’, but it’s largely filmed round here (some locations are within a few miles of here), so I think I’m about the only person left in the county that hasn’t.
I’m mostly spending this weekend trying to get the ol’ brain back into gear; I really need to be keeping up with assignments this year, not that I got too badly out last year, nothing was totally last minute, but I have more on outside of skool now, plus the assignments are all longer and more involved.
I did manage to pop out for a bit to go look round a garden centre today though. Bought a weird fern I’m trying to ID. I think it’s an ‘eyelash fern’- Actinopteris australis, but can’t find anything much about it. Looks cool though.
Home from the park, I didn’t stay long today.
I want to get some irk in and hopefully make my bonus this morning, otherwise I may reschedule and go tomorrow.
Once irk shift is over I’ll be rushing to get a shower and get out of here. Have to remember to get gas on the way.
I have stuff creeping up on me that needs to get done.
Taxes are due October 15, and I still don’t know if I want to do them myself or take them somewhere. I have a doctor appointment coming up, two medical tests I need to get done, both dogs have a vet appointment. I need to call my insurance company, I finally got my pay increase entered into the Maryland Exchange, but that changed my insurance coverage and I have no clue what some of the stuff is. I have to call my other doctor about my blood test results. My hair is falling out again and even though my thyroid levels are within normal range, they are at the very low end of normal.
This is where I question this doctor. The specialist knew I was taking iodine and selenium supplements and said it was okay, the new doctor told me to stop taking them. Now my hair is falling out again. If she won’t increase my thyroid dose, then I’m going to go back to taking the supplements.
Recycles only once a month? MetalMouse! We could probably go every two weeks for that, but once a month is nowhere near often enough unless the city wants to give up two bins.
I remember when trash collection was twice a week.
Very cloudy here, with a few sprinkles every now and then.
My son needs to get a phone. I’m getting texts from his team members round the clock. I never got a phone to Six’s dad, so if I don’t see him soon I’ll give it to my son and add him to my account.
Never watched poldark. Soap operas don’t interest me in the slightest, usually. We’ve been watching a BBC show on Amazon Prime called Silent Witness lately. I think it’s probably where they got the idea for the CSI shows. It’s very good.
It’s been mostly cold and much wet around here lately.
The house in Maupin is supposed to record tomorrow and then will officially be ours. Wifey and her painting buddy are going over to have a quick look tomorrow and see what the seller has left. His family is supposed to be carting everything they want off this weekend.
I’ve got a craving for some kinda Thai food tonight. Maybe a curry.
Y’all enjoy your sonday.
Our trash comes twice a week and recyclables every week and yard waste once a week. I know y’all just needed to know that!
Blurfage. Lot of laundry today. Doing all the blankets, quilts, mattress cover and sheets. All day to get all that done. The big stuff will hang on the porch rail to dry. Cooking should happen today too. I never cooked yesterday so really need to today.
Red we do have a Bark Park but every time we go there except once there is not a single soul there. I think it’s just been too hot. Maybe if we ever get a cool down there will be other dogs to play with. I really need to wear him out every day.
Girl 3.0 has reached the age of preferring to stay home if I’m running a very quick errand, but she’s a little young for a phone of her own and we no longer have a house phone. So we set up Google Hangout accounts for her, me, college-aged siblings, and hubster. With that, she can message or call if something comes up. Possible solution for SariSon?
Also, Amazon Prime is the bomb diggity. Just the shipping makes it worthwhile for me, especially as both of my college kids use the account on the regular; plus I can ship gifts to my mom or aunt or grand-nephew, etc. Prime Video, Music, Books, and reading the WaPo are bonuses.
In unrelated news, Cookie Monster has made friends with one of the front yard kitties: Bot and Cookie
