Some of us enjoy flavors and textures beyond “sugar”. The frosting just adds too much sweetness for my taste.
They had a limited edition flavor pop tart that was some kind of mint.
My husband went nutso for them.
The Cinnamon ones for certain.
After that, the Blueberry ones.
I typically open a package of 2, break them in half and pull out the top halves so that I can fold over the foil and save the other two halves for later.
I voted for Frosted Chocolate Fudge because 1. I like it enough I’ll try any other flavor with chocolate in it at least once and 2. it’s been my favorite longer–it was the ONLY flavor for me as a child. But now that I’m an adult, it’s more of a tie between Frosted Chocolate Fudge and Frosted Raspberry; if I’m buying Pop-Tarts I’m likely to get a box of each.
Oddly, Pop-Tarts are about the only sweet I prefer with frosting. I’d rather have cake plain than heavily frosted (some frosting is OK), I don’t much care for frosted cookies, and I definitely don’t like frosted brownies, but Pop-Tarts, I like that extra sugar.
There are Gingerbread Poptarts??? Must track down…
Blueberry!
Shit. It is now my unceasing mission to find these, stale and borderline inedible though they may be, a.s.a.p.!
ETA: Yes!
I’ve found discontinued products in Big Lots. I’m going to keep checking out the bottom shelves for a crushed, crumpled box of Gingerbread poptarts. Sometimes Christmas Tree Shops carry such items, but I bought some odd flavor noodles there once and when they zapped the price sticker at the checkout, they said the record showed the noodles were past expiration date and they couldn’t sell them. Big Lots isn’t so fussy!
I haven’t had Pop-Tarts in years, but my favorites were always frosted blueberry and frosted cinnamon brown sugar. That said, what I really loved were frosted cinnamon brown sugar Danish Go-Rounds, the gorgeous short-lived cousin of Pop-Tarts.
Toasted or untoasted?
Growing up, my mom would never buy Pop Tarts. The first time I had one was in college from a vending machine with no toaster around. I often grabbed one if I missed dinner and had an evening class. Whenever I eat one now, it’s untoasted. The best flavor untoasted is S’mores.
I have no idea about how toasting changes the taste. Brown Sugar Cinnamon might be fantastic toasted, but it’s only passable untoasted.
I reall like both frosted strawberry and frosted blueberry, but my favorite, like most here, is frosted BSC.
Any of the frosted fruit-fillings Pop-Tarts are fine with me, but I like the strawberry ones best. All of the chocolate ones taste too dry and cloying to me.
A friend of mine spreads butter on her Pop-Tarts.
:: shudder ::
My favorite is fudge. Second favorite is smores. Third favorite is cherry.
