Sweet potato fries with garlic aioli dipping sauce!
I don’t often indulge in them but happened to be by the restaurant where I get them on another errand today, so why not! One to-go side order is enough for two lunches.

Ruffles brand korean sweet and spicy chili chips. I’m trying to restrain myself a bit until my craving for them burns out, but damn right now I love them far far too much.
On Fridays, my wife and I get a nice lunch. One of our favorites is to split the smoked salmon BLT for the deli near our house, it is amazing.
An Epic (big) corndog from The Corndog Company of Central Oregon, but without the catsup and mustard.
Failing that, a couple of tamales.
(We have a large Hispanic population here and good tamales are available.)
Grilled cheese sandwich with tomato.
It used to be French Onion soup, but since it now plays havoc with my digestive system, it’s a nice big cobb or antipasto salad, dressing on the side. I end up bringing home most of the toppings, enough to make sandwiches later.
You mean aside from things like a bacon cheeseburger with fries, a big bowl of chili topped with onions and cheese, or a deep-dish personal pizza?
A large stuffed burrito or shwarma, both with lots of beef.
All of the above served with a large ice-cold Coca-Cola.
Subway sandwich, either the meatball with added pepperoni and lots of black olives or the All-American Club with a big handful of pickles and enough mayo to make my cardiologist facepalm.
I don’t like sandwiches I make at home but there’s something about Subway sandwiches that I absolutely love. I only indulge a few times a year, but this Monday will be one of them: the power at work is scheduled to be out all day so I’ll have no way to heat up anything. A cold sandwich sounds perfect.
Thank Goodness for Chef Boyardee!!!
Particularly his Beef Ravioli!!!
Ok. You ruined my day.
I WANT an epic Corndog.
I had a cheese sammich with a decent cheddar and a mango smoothie.
Nothing better than well-made tamales. My former church, in California, was half Hispanic, and the Hispanic ladies would sell them after Mass as a fundraiser. I’d buy bags of six. Pork, chicken, and beef. God, they were good. I haven’t even tried to find tamales here in darkest New England.
Sushi. I’ll do the All You Can Eat thing; the chef knows what I like, and I don’t even have to order. It just shows up, I eat till I’m full and be done for the about a day and a half.
I used to do this every week back in the day. Now, I can only manage … rarely.
I like a can of sardines on wasa crisp.
I also like a chunk of grilled Arctic char (from the whole foods freezer section).
My husband doesn’t like fish, so i never have that for dinner, which is a shared meal. But i guess i indulge at lunch time.
Homemade cream of tomato soup with half a grilled cheese sandwich.
Sardine salad on crackers.
Anchovies on crackers with a schmear of tomato pesto.
To make it a sardine trifecta, although it is usually more brunch, a couple oh hash browns topped with Smoked Sprats In Oil With Chilli. Fish ‘n’ chips.
Coffee, mixed with hot chocolate, a full glass of cigarettes, most of which I shan’t smoke, a few books to look at, pen, and notebook. And none of some inane piped-in noise music people think is background. No thanks, I’ll listen to what I wish, or nothing.
And none of that jibber-jabber of deranged coworkers speaking.
A California Roll.
Soda. I don’t really drink soda anywhere else except at the office. I’ll buy a 20 oz soda from the cafeteria on Monday and I really only take a few sips with my lunch (they have cans but I buy the bottle so I can re-close it). That one soda will last the whole week, sometimes longer.
There used to be a sushi place near work that had a lunch special of 10 orders for $12.99. It was really good sushi too (and you can probably tell by the price that this was many years ago). I sometimes went there three times a week, but I could never eat that much for lunch anymore. Sure was fun while it lasted though.
If you lived closer, I’d treat.
If you wanted to have a go at it yourself, I’d think getting a good quality dog and putting honey in the batter would get you close. Like this recipe.
(Note: I have not tried this recipe. I don’t know if I dare ingest buttermilk or not. My allergy is really weird.)
