Sounds absurd, dunnit? Wheat Thins in a Dill Pickle flavor? Sounds kinda yukky, really, wouldn’t you think?
Dayum! These puppies are GOOD! I just wiped out the entire box in one sitting! They’re very “dusty” or “powdery,” so hand-washing is a necessity. But the Dill Pickle flavoring is super! Just the right amount. Not overwhelming, but strong enough to be unmistakable. A little “authority” but not too much.
Maybe not for everybody…but if you have any liking for dill pickles…and any liking for Wheat Thins…the combination is…yum!
I thought the flavor was good, but they have the same problem as all other flavored crackers have. There’s just too damn much flavoring. It’s overwhelming.
I agree with garygnu in that flavoured crackers in the US are overseasoned. I also find the actual cracker far too sweet. Which is a real shame, as back in Australia, these kind of snacks were among my favourite treats.
Where can one find Dill Pickle chips? I gotta try 'em!
Haven’t seen that one yet, but the instant I do, I’m all over it like ants on a cupcake!
Yeah, that’s a cultural thing. We Yanks like to believe we’re getting our money’s worth. Subtlety isn’t our strong suit. Also, some of us (me!) are getting up a bit in years, and so our taste buds are dying off. A flavor has to be stronger than average for me even to perceive it.
They should be easy enough to find in your local supermarket. Several companies make them such as Lay’s, Old Dutch (may be more of an upper midwest brand) and Uncle Ray’s.
Are you a monster? Wait–what do you combine them in, besides not pies? Because I, primarily of Central-European ancestry and born in Minnesota, am all about dill and rhubarb, when separated.
A woman of African heritage moved in behind us and it was a good thing she asked what these greens with red stems were that were growing in her garden before she boiled up a mess of them.
I think it might also depend on what you intend to do with the cracker or chip.
For example, my wife recently bought some Sour Cream & Chives Triscuits. If I’m eating the crackers entirely by themselves (without any toppings), I’d actually prefer the flavor to be a little stronger. (I guess that shows I’m an American.) But if I’m using the crackers to hold toppings like meat, cheese, etc. then I find the flavor to be overpowering and would really prefer original Triscuits.
I suspect the dill pickle flavored Wheat Thins would probably fall into the same trap for me.
Let us know what you think! If you hate 'em, mea culpa, but I dare to hope you’ll enjoy 'em as much as I did…and I wolfed 'em right down in one crunchy orgy!
Saw these last night and remembered this thread so I picked up a box. They are good, but not eat the whole box in one sitting good. Probably not something I’d eat all the time, but I don’t regret buying them.
