We had a smart-ass mouse last night. The salami was gone this morning but the trap wasn’t sprung. I’m really going to be sorry to kill this one.
Have to go to Wifey’s office this afternoon and hang art for Friday’s Art Walk.
The Maglite I just bought is going back to the store. I bought new batteries and put them in and it’s still just too dim to see anything. I’m disappointed.
Howdy Y’all! Mr. Frank’s service was really nice and well attended. At the end a bagpiper played “Goin’ Home” and toward the end started walkin’ away while playin’. Very effective! We had a great N.O.L. at Dawson Presbyterian Church and then went by to see Miss Becky. The Minister of DPC (who performed the service) did a shortened version so she could be a part of it all which I thought was a nice touch. He did the same thing for Miss Becky and Mr. Frank when their son died last year. I had myself a nice nap when we got back to da cave. Matter of fact OYKW is snoozed still as I post. Miss Becky, JDD, and Sis seem to be doin’ well. The rain held off but is now movin’ in as I can hear it startin’ up.
It says “Xenon ULTRA beam distance 206 meters”
B.S. I can’t even light up my back fence 50 feet away with this thing.
It’s going back.
Funny thing: while I was searching the car for the old yellow flashlight we kept at the cabin, I found the Maglite just like this one that I bought 30+ years ago. It’s pitiful even with new batteries too. Since I can’t take it back, I’ll look into a conversion kit for it.
I’m still full from the hyuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge church lady feedin’ this afternoon. Seems like a good idea to go lie upon the bed and watch teevee until sleepy time. Plus 'tis rainy and dreary out so yet another good reason to do so.
I was a slug today. Stayed home and layed around and napped all day. Feeling some better though. Back at it tomorrow to get a head start on end of month.
I have a friend in Houston who has lost everything on the first story of her home. How does one even begin to help?
**Butters **- I can’t watch any more stories about the flooding. It hurts too much. I made a donation to the Red Cross because I really can’t do anything else. Rather than buying and mailing things that are needed, I’ll give the money directly to those who will (I hope) buy and distribute what is needed.
I have a cat with a stinky butt on my lap - envy me.
Swampy, sounds like quite a nice service and a most compassionate minister.
Butters, sluggery is good (I’m working at it all the time these days).
Bumba, never owned a MagLight, and after your adventures, I’ll pass on the opportunity.
Well, my new doors are installed and awaiting the painters in a week or two. We got our dividend from Harvey, nothing at all like Houston but maybe close to an inch scattered over the whole day…enough to cancel soccer practice.
Actually got a fair amount done–paid my bill for the doors, got ready to switch service for Internet and Phone to AT&T, bought supplies at Staples, and ate way too much at Golden Corral. Nappage then occured, and I’ll go forage for something to eat in a bit.
Grocery shopping tomorrow morning, I think (more rain forecast).
We got some of Harvey’s leftovers today too with more called for tomorrow. Sis in Houston came out of the storm with no damage, but a few other friends didn’t. No one lost their homes, but a couple of them got some water damage on the first floor. Like others, I donated to the Red Cross, Second Harvest and a local animal shelter that is handling some of the storm refugees that are being trucked to Tennessee. I also volunteered to walk some pooches Saturday for them. It’s in my old town and I’ve worked with them before.
Butters I’m sure there are some things your friend will need. I’m guessing the first floor of her house is where the kitchen and dining room are. Maybe you could help out with replacing some of that? I hope that her house can be saved.
Swampy I’m glad the service went well. I’m partial to bagpipes myself.
